The ‘Bleeding Love’ singer’s third body of work ‘Glassheart‘ hit stores this week to ample acclaim and much fanfare. As such, we were ecstatic to catch up with the songbird in London to discuss the project.

When people say boring refering to this talented girl is not about the fact she is not showing skin and all those things. It´s about her music, voice, presence. It seems boring. Her voice is amazing for some things but it lacks versatility to really do different things. Kind of always sound the same

Yes @Sam, Mariah MAY have now lost her voice after 20 or so years in the business, but prior to that she was amazing and has left a body of remarkable work, we don’t know how Leona’s voice will be in that amount of time so its a really bad comparison, but like for like she isn’t touching Mariah in tone, range or ability.
And yes, i find Beyonce post Destinys Child & Dangerously in Love screechy. She seems to think singing in a higher pitch and shouting is power… its not
@Jeff you didn’t listen to most of her songs in which she shows how good her low range is: Disappear or Dance For You for example. How about Fever the slow version? is that shouting?

I like the fact that Leona has not allowed herself to be whored out by the industry. I’m more than certain that stylists, producers, etc in the US would line up to change her image. She is a pretty girl with a killer bod so yes, they could present her in a certain way to make her more “edgy” and appealing to children who buy singles based on how bad-ass someone is as opposed to whether that person can sing. I hope this album is successful – whatever that means anymore, I’m just looking forward to hearing songs from a chick who can actually sing.

This is the most animated and expressive i think i’ve ever seen her. I personally don’t think that Leona is as great singer that everyone says she is, i still find that she lacks range, sings all her songs in one pitch and makes them sound the same. I’m not going to say that she isn’t talented, but she isn’t all that.
I find it interesting that Simon Cowell clearly supports the acts he likes afte thr show regardless if they win or not, and always opens doors for them (Leona, One Direction, Cher Lloyd and Ollie Murs) which is clearly unfair considering the nature of the show. I don’t think that Leona’s will continue her success until she finds a decent vocal coach.
She lacks a low register, not an upper register.
Her upper register extends to the F#6 above soprano high C. That’s plenty high.
But her low register is lacking. Whenever she sings low, she wobbles out of control and out of pitch (like in “Hurt”…that s*** was dreadful).
I prefer she stays in a range more suitable for her soprano range, as in “Bleeding Love” and “Better in time”.
Leona lacks range? Sorry not everyone possesses a manly voice when I think range, I think being able to change vocally & transition through octaves

I really like the album! Though there are some weak tracks, and for the most part they don’t really show her vocals, I think it’s a step in the right direction to move away from the Mariah mini-me s*** that her label tried to pass her off with her debut.
But, no Leona…Alicia does NOT sound better live…she’s often flatter than a 3 day old can of soda.

Wow, I used to not give a flying you know what about Leona, thinking she was a prissy British ice queen…I watched the whole interview and now I just find her so lovely. I will definitely pay more attention to her music from now on now that I had a chance to see her bubbly yet introspective personality.
