Not since the arrival of ‘One Direction’ two years ago has the X Factor UK seen a boy band generate as much support and momentum as ‘Union J‘ have done this year.
Now the only group left in the competition, today has seen the group’s lead vocalist Jaymi Hensley announce news that will undoubtedly force the group’s star even further into Pop’s stratosphere.
Find out why below…
Speaking to ‘The Sun On Sunday’, the vocalist revealed that he is gay and was encouraged by on screen mentor Louis Walsh to share the news publicly.
He explained:
“Every boyband has got to have a gay one! And Louis just said: “Do it!”‘
I didn’t want to do it in five year’s time when I have a career. I don’t think anyone should have to hide who they are. I don’t want people to think I have hidden this to gain votes because I am so proud of who I am.
If I can help just one kid out, that’s enough for me.”
