…and Nicki Minaj just keeps on winning!
Fresh from releasing the Hip Hop heavy ‘The Re-Up’ on Monday, this week has seen the ‘American Idol’ judge welcome news that will undoubtedly cement her status as Rap’s leading contender.
Details below…
This week, despite its non existent promo backing, her new single ‘Va Va Voom’ hit the Billboard Hot 100 at #26, helping the star claim her 19th Top 40 hit on the chart.
Indeed, after peaking at #16 on the Billboard’s Pop Songs tally, the single is now Minaj’s 9th Top 40 entry as a lead act, with the remaining 10 accumulated from her role as contributor to cuts which include Ludacris‘ ‘My Chick Bad’, Alicia Key’s ‘Girl On Fire (Inferno) and Britney Spears’ ‘Till The World Ends‘.
This feat makes her the only Rapper (male or female) to score this many Top 40 releases in the space of three years, and comes after she became the first Female Rapper to score a UK #1 album in chart history.
Available to purchase on the aforementioned ‘Re-Up’, the cut’s new peak position may confuse any following the Rapper’s recent career moves. For, in what is a testament to the public’s love for the number, its chart success comes without the aid of a single television performance.
Ironic, as her new single ‘Freedom’– which she performed at the 2012 American Music Awards peaked at #104 in the US and #107 in the UK.
