Life, as far as sales are concerned, must be sweet for Bruno Mars.
Sending his second LP ‘Unorthodox Jukebox‘ to #2 on this week’s Billboard 200 tally, sales of 187,339 have ensured his chances of suffering’sophomore slump’ slim to none.
However, it is with heavy hearts that we report that not everyone fared so well on the charts this week. Yes, much like her vocals delivery at 2011’s ‘Rock In Rio’, Rihanna‘s ‘Unapologetic’ continues to fall flat.
Bad news below…
After several weeks of under performing on the chart, tonight saw the Pop piece face further shame when it drop a further 14% since last week, forcing it to reside at #15.
Unfortunate, as it is only spot above Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe‘ which debuted seven months before but was less than 2,000 copies away from outselling the album this week.
Moving 50,965 copies, its continuous sales descent will come as a surprise to any following its global chart run which will see it hit the 1 million units sold mark by the week’s end.
However, this will come as little consolation to the Pop sensation of her loyal fans, who could have been forgiven for expecting higher sales this time around, considering it marked her first US #1 since her arrival in 2005.
At this rate, it will be sometime before ‘Unapologetic’ enjoys the sweet taste of 1 million US units sold. Problematic, because one only has to frequent message boards and forums across the net to see what might happen if Rihanna‘s closest rivals, Beyonce & Lady GaGa, hit Platinum with their respective 2013 releases before she does.
