Elijah Blake: ‘Rihanna’s Unapologetic Is Her Strongest Album To Date’

Published: Monday 3rd Dec 2012 by David

As the man behind Usher‘s ‘Climax‘, Keyshia Cole‘s ‘Enough Of No Love’ and many a cut on Ciara‘s ‘One Woman Army‘, Elijah Blake is fast becoming Pop’s most sought after contributor.

However, while his skills have already seen him win an ‘industry concentrated’ respect , it’s his work on Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic’ that has many a Pop fan foaming at the mouth, with some now hailing him as the male equivalent to Ester Dean.

Now, in an interview with That Grape Juice.Net, he has opened up on his friendship with the Def Jam belle and the inspiration behind his work for her.

Excerpt from our interview below…

On the album, he shared:

“It’s really a solid piece of work. First of all, just working with Rihanna was a blessing because she’s one of the kindest people I’ve met, if not the kindest- and then as far as the music goes…it’s the most honest album she’s done. We went for a sound that describes where she is creatively and emotionally.

Everything she says on it comes from her life.

The things she’s singing about are things she’s really going through and you can hear it in her voice. It’s funny because people think ‘No Loved Allowed’ is a response to ‘Deuces”.

“(Laughs) I definitely wasn’t thinking about Deuces when I wrote it, but I’m just glad the album’s doing so well. I really feel like its the strongest LP she’s done. It’s not a singles based album you know, it’s strong as a whole.”

Be on the lookout for the rest of Elijah‘s interview when it touches down this week, and his hotly anticipated ‘Bijoux 22‘ EP set to drop set to drop in the coming days. Until then…
