That Grape Juice caught up with The Vocal Bible at VH1 Divas 2012 in Los Angeles last night; and ever keen to ask the questions you really want answers to, quizzed her about the next single to be lifted from her ‘Two Eleven’ LP.
Last month saw the singer present fans with a list of potential single options and with three tracks receiving most love, she’s now calling on the TGJ faithful to help whittle down to one.

LET ME GO!!!! All tracks are fire but LET ME GO has the most commercial appeal and will reach out to more than just R&B fans, thats a world wide club jam 🙂

My ultimate preference though, would be for her label to let her do a dual release. DYKWYH is my favourite off the album and would kill on urbn radio and let me go would just be that internationally smash, if marketed right.

I voted for “Do You Know What You Have?” because it is my personal favorite from the album and it’s very commercial sounding while at the same time true R&B. Mike Will did a great job on that beat, and Brandy’s vocals are great with it!
If not “Do You Know…”, the next single has to be “Let Me Go”. I agree with the comments above, the last thing she really needs right now is a slow R&B single like “Without You”. While “Without You” is truly perfect, right now she needs more commercial buzz and a song that can attack the Hot 100 and not just the Hot R&B 100. When things get back into the playing field, then I would love for her to release the amazing slow songs on the album, but for right now, it’s got to be “Do You Know…” or “Let Me Go”!

Without You to me personally is slower and doesn’t have as much bass as the other two songs do. Don’t get me wrong though, Without You is truly a wonderful song, it’s just I don’t see it performing as well as the other two. Do You Know? has this knock to it that is so hard to describe, but it’s just amazing! While it may be a little slow, the way the beat knocks with the bass just gives it this tempo I love! And Let Me Go is just pure fire! I’m hoping if she releases that the video will be on point! All in all, I just want the best for Bran. Would hate to see this lovely album go to waste because of lack of promotion.

The only ballad Brandy has released since Almost Doesn’t Count was Long Distance. I don’t count He Is because that song charted without a video or promotion. Ballads are a strength for her as long as it’s a good song.
NSTATL should be an option, although the only song that will revive this era is LMG. I can see DYK or WY on the radio, although after another bonafied hit like LMG.
TBH, it’s such a phenomenal album to just let go. I hope the fate of this era isn’t like Human’s. That album also had such potential but was poorly managed.

I’ve been riding with you for too long to stir you wrong Rayana! … I feel like Do You Know What You Have is the clear winner! Brandy need something that people will connect with (young & old). So many people are with someone that just don’t understand how good they got it. This will register with people. Besides that, it’s a very s*** song. It doesn’t feel like it’s too sexual though. This song made me pause for a minute when I was first going through the album. That’s why I suggest it because the casual listener is way more impatient than a stan and you must grab their attention right away. Brandy this is the brick to hit people on the head with! I’m not mad at Let Me Go as an option though, but the video MUST be fire. It’s a little bit of a gamble – but a good one. That is also a good track (just not my first pick)! If she release ‘Do You Know’ as a single I guarantee that the starz will get the other 2-3 singles that we deserve in this era (and it’ll finally lead to us being able to see her do ‘Slower’ by the Spring).

I feel like Brandy has something up her sleeve for this album. There is no way this is over. As far as gaurenteed radio appeal: “Do You Know…” and “Without You” are her best options.
“Scared of Beautiful” has so much potential be an interesting, and very different, single with international appeal with the right video because the message is very deep and her vocals are impeccable. Just look at the download success it is having in Asia and it’s not even a single. I could see being intranced into the right video concept with mirrors and such where she could reflect on the ups and downs of her career and possibly win people back over.
“Let Me Go” is the weakest song on the album, but I could see it being played on radio for a hot minute and in clubs.

“Do You Know” is a great song to roll to at night playing in the car. It has a great nighttime feel, or maybe even wintertime. “Without You” is the kind of song people would turn up when it comes on the radio and sing to their boyfriend, I think. It’s a love song.
Honestly any song from this album is single worthy.. Let me go and hardly breathing are my two choices though 🙂

She needs a single that will garner radio appeal and draw new fans, while getting her attention and pushing album sales. Brandy is doing her thing and Beyonce can do hers. There’s plenty of room. It’s not like in the 90s/2000s when there were so so so many R&B singers around at once. Theres room. Beyonce is not the highest selling singer BY FAR. She is not the richest R&B singer by far either…she is 200 million short of Mariah. And to be HONEST, the girl is not the best singer either, but screaming is accepted everywhere VISA is, so of course she will have a career.

Put it down got her half way back on the scene with great sucess Let Me Go will hit home .. She needs to win the new fans over and catch up with the Times … Do not release Do U Kno, Wish your love away … Not what she needs right now
Let Me Go does not have the same appeal as Put It Down. It will flop like pancakes on a plate if they release that song.
Please go with Do You Know. People who don’t even listen to Brandy will like that song.

I applaud Brandy for still trying with what she’s been through in the last ten years. She is inspirational, brave, and shows that quitters never win. Even if this album does not do as well as it should, I am confident she will not take clothes off and will stick with features, acting, and modeling. I am not worried about Brandy. She will keep going regardless of what happens. She has proven that. Go Brandy!!!

I think ” Do You Know What You Have” is best fit most girls can relate to that song, or it can help a female realize she’s worth more than who she’s dealing with. Also the song has commercial value in my opinion the beat is sick, and the song is catchy. It was one of the first songs that grabbed my attention on the album. It’s dope!!! Let me go is good but it’s a tad to much, and without you, too slow we got slow with wildest dreams. Do you know what you have is the perfect feel, and it’s one of those uplifting , women impowerment songs with a little sass

5. Hardly Breathing – I think it’s more listenable (than my next option) and just a really wonderful arrangement. It’s a song that will have a hold on people.

You are on point here. Slower would be huge right now (top 10 at the very least) had it been released in September or October.
Brandy needs a major song to wake people up right now and the only song that will do it will be Do You Know.
Radio programmers will only play a song they feel is not risky and will appeal to their audience. They will not take a chance on Let Me Go or any other song right now besides Do You Know.

Great point! LMG is cute, but the song is risky and that’s why it makes me a little nervous. It’ll either be hot for only 3 – 4 weeks and lose steam or get some play (because it’s similar to Put It Down) and become a hit. Still it is a GAMBLE. I do believe Do You Know is safe (not because the song is safe), it’s safe because it would be a home run on R&B radio. That’s the reason why I’m stressing it because it’s just a perfect hit song!
Then if she really want to show that it’s really not a game, Slower or So Sick can keep the momentum going. I promise that will get Bran 500 – 600K.

I am going to have to disagree with all of my “Do You Know” Starz and “Let Me Go” Clubbangers. People are looking at this all wrong. They are trying to look at what is going to push Two Eleven up the charts. In reality we should be looking at what is going to get to the next single. In order for that to happen we have to have another successful single.
By picking the most mainstream, catchy but yet still creative songs. You have to ask yourself what songs will people (child and teens) remember the instantly they here it.
For me those songs are:
Without You
So Sick
Wish Your Love Away
No Such Thing As To Late.
Brandy knows this. Before WD came out she was asked what song she wanted for the next single and her choose was “Without You”. Sean Garrett has been pushing “So Sick” since PID came out. After hearing the Two Eleven I agree with both.
Do You Know is the safest bet to be a single right now. Teens and adults can relate to it and the beat is so hot.
Radio Program Directors will not hesitate to play this song. Do You Know got early airplay at radio when the album was released.
Thats a sign of a hit in the waiting.
BTW, Do You Know is the 3rd most downloaded song from Two Eleven on iTunes. That should tell you something.

I love Two Eleven but I think Brandy went a little too urban with this album when you consider each song individually. Next itme she should show off her vocals more a la Tamar Braxton’s Love and War. Her and LaShawn Daniels need to hook up again!
