For many, music royal Prince is so much more than that. Indeed, for fans the world over the 54 year old is a legend, a hall of famer, an icon.
Billboard agree – especially with the latter – and have today announced that the Purple one will be honored at the Billboard Awards 2013.

The eclectic superstar is this year’s recipient of the Billboard Icon Award and will be presented with the prize at the industry bible’s annual extravaganza live at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand on May 19th. What’s more, the singer will also perform at the show – which last year saw Stevie Wonder receive the same tribute.
