Honestly, the industry is looking for a cleaner, fresher Chris Brown. They thought they could pull it off with Jason Derulo, but his sound is too Pop/Generic for the Urban lane.
And before the haterz jump on me, Chris was a goldmine before The Incident. He was the boy next door. The media capitalized on that, which was about to bring him endorsements, multi-mogul projects, and cross-over appeal with fans. But after Chriannagate occurred, it tarnished his brand. Even though the Bad Boy image worked to some degree, it will never get him back to the status he was about to achieve.
