That Grape Juice A&R: Christina Aguilera’s 8th Studio Album

Published: Saturday 30th Mar 2013 by David

As much as it hurts us to admit it, Christina Aguilera has pulled the plug on the ‘Lotus’ era (sheds lonely tear).

With this in mind, it’s safe to say work on its follow up will already have some of her staple collaborators wondering just how to up their creative game in preparation for it, as to ensure it surpasses ‘Stripped‘s standing as her strongest project to date.

Now, it’s time to have your say.

Find out how below…

Listing 13 songs from any genre or period of music from any artist out there, we want you to create the ultimate Christina album made up of cuts you feel would serve to win over the buying public and critics alike.

Maybe you feel Rihanna’s ‘Drunk On Love’ is just the song she needs to help to force her into higher chart ground or is Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black’ just the kind of sound she should be going for if it’s critical acclaim she desires.

It’s completely up to you!

If you’re struggling to whip up a list, peep one we made earlier (geared toward the Adult Contemporary listener),for inspiration:

1. Bruno Mars – ‘Treasure’.

2. Paloma Faith – ‘New York

3. Carrie Underwood – ‘Two Black Cadillacs’.

4.  Stooshe- ‘Black Heart’

5. Aloe Blacc – ‘I Need A Dollar’

6.  Amy Winehouse – ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’

7. Jennifer Hudson – ‘Think Like A Man (ft Adam Levine)’

8. Lisa Stansfield – ‘All Woman’

9.  Miguel – ‘Use Me’.

10. Misha B – ‘Do You Think Of Me’

 Bonus:

1. Jill King – ‘Three Months, Two Weeks, One Day’

2. Everything But The Girl – ‘Missing’.

3. Adele – ‘Cold Shoulder‘.

Remember, if you consider yourself a Christina fan, it’s really important that get you involved…as someone from her camp may come across your ideas and -if impressed- use them.

So, are you ready to get creative?

    lmao. Bored much?

    • Music Soul Harmony March 30, 2013

that was at H20 that had his/her comment deleted.

  3. J March 30, 2013

She just needs to be original like back in the Stripped/Back To Basics eras

  4. Likica March 30, 2013

I think she need sto release a poweful ballad as a lead single, something similar to Beautiful/Hurt because she is the queen of ballads among other pop girls. Plus so big big promo like Justin Timberlake (he was everywhere and it worked) will definitely be convenient. Back To Basics was a perfect album and I would like her to do an album like that one again.

    • truth(icki is a KMART, NO GRAMMY NOD, PFRR FLOP, SQUID EYED b****) March 30, 2013

I looooove her back then but can she still sing like that? All indications say she caint

      • Likica March 30, 2013

Unfotunately no :/ But she was slaying with her performances back in the day. I guess you hate Xtina for making a song with Nicki – Wooho? 😀

  5. Music Soul Harmony March 30, 2013

Has RCA dropped her yet? They should. She’s becoming a waste of space and their priorities. Either that or something else is wrong…if she was going to focus on raising her son and spending time with her hubby or whatever she should have never released an album during that time cuz you are letting your fanbase down. Some of the material and Lotus has potential. So now whenever she decides to drop another album, her fanbase will alienate her since she doesn’t seem to care about her career either. Sad but true. Had a lot of faith in her last year. Britney has a chance to make a comeback now than she ever will.

    • irene46 March 30, 2013

no matter how lousy a cd or performance she puts out britney has one of the greatest pr teams and all of the media rooting for her. they love her and will they’ll create everything positive to keep her from a brain short. the media gets off wrecking christina.

      • Common Sense March 30, 2013

Probably because Britney still comes across as a nice humble girl while Xtina comes across as an arrogant b****.

      • irene46 April 15, 2013

britney may come across as you say “sweet and humble” but hasn’t a drip of talent left. if the media started wrecking careers because of bitchy attitudes, there would quite a few less in the industry.

  6. eric March 30, 2013

I don’t want her to sound or look like anyone else. I think she could take better care of her voice, follow fewer trends, and spend more time developing a complete theme and visual concept like she did for Back to Basics. No more random songs and performances, because that only creates fleeting interest among listeners/viewers.

    • tony March 30, 2013

I what trends ? xtna’s been the only pop star after madonna to have an amazing artistry, bionic is a masterpiece and lotus is a pop album like her debut album, so I don’t really see where you’re saying she’s following trends….

      • Common Sense March 30, 2013

You need glasses then. Bionic was CLEARLY an answer to the new Gaga sensation that was taking over. Lotus was an answer to the dancy microwave pop that Rihanna has been releasing to dominate the charts.

Xtina did very well when she released a unique sound that was perfect for her voice with Back to Basics. It was a great album and she succeeded because she didn’t follow any trends.

      • gritty April 1, 2013

        @COMMON SENSE

how was Bionic an answer to gaga when a) xtina worked on it since 08 and b) it sounds nothing like her?

and how was Lotus trying to be Rihanna’d dance sound when there’s only ONE dance song on the album?

        please, MAKE SENSE

      • irene46 April 15, 2013

        @ common sense…

on one of her first releases (i think maybe it was ‘poker face’) gaga sounded so much like christina in parts i thought it was christina.

  7. my forehead tho March 30, 2013

She should just retire and start a record label or something. Clearly, she’s no Beyonce, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, or Usher. Nobody is checking for her. The sooner she realizes that, the sooner she’ll stop wasting everybody’s time.

Unless she’s prepared to take vocal lessons and go Jenny Craig, she could kiss success good bye.

    • Hive March 30, 2013

EXACTLY THESE GIRLS NEED TO KNOW WHEN TO JUST GIVE IT UP AND BOW OUT GRACEFULLY

    • HOWYOULIKEIT March 30, 2013

      wow that forehead
      lmao

    • Nippy March 30, 2013

She is the voice of our generation

    • DNNY March 30, 2013

sweetie you must be rootin’ for some basic b**** don’t you? that’s the only thing that I can figure since you’re suggesting she takes vocal lessons… yeap she needs more control over those amazing pipes (altough she controls ’em more now) other than that she’s just fine… and she’s losing the weight, lbr… you just don’t like her right? It’s ok I won’t condemn your ignorance for not likin’ her…

      • Common Sense March 30, 2013

Delusional. She DOES any vocal lessons. Any vocal coach will tell you her vocals are a complete mess these days. She struggles with the simplest of belts and strains more than sings. She is not doing just fine, and the obvious deterioration of her vocals is evidence of this. Unlike Mariah she hasn’t struggled with nodules all her life, so at 32 her vocals should be flawless and they’re far from it.

    • hsmfan007 April 3, 2013

Are you serious? Christina has the most beautiful voice that I’ve ever heard! She’s my favorite singer and I am so tired of people criticizing her! Christina may not have a ton of record sales like other pop artists but she tries her best to make her music sound how she wants it to sound instead of just doing some random songs that will top the charts. That’s how her career started and she did not want to be a doormat and let people walk all over her career. Christina has stood up for herself and I respect her a lot for doing that. You must be tone deaf if you think she needs vocal lessons. I love the way she sings and if you don’t then why are you on here? I will be a fan of her forever because she is so inspiring and that’s what makes a true artist. An artist can be very successful but it won’t mean anything if they didn’t inspire at least one person to change their life for the better. I am so grateful to God everyday for all of the amazing music artists who inspire me everyday to make my dreams come true and to not give up no matter how hard life gets.

  8. Hive March 30, 2013

There’s no need for another album the world is obviously over her fat funky ass…

    • irene46 March 30, 2013

christina is selling more than jlo who is constantly cranking out flop cds and movie too and she still gets hyped as a major.

  9. . : : h 2 o : : . March 30, 2013

Why would we want another Christina Aguilera album when we have “Lotus” and “Bionic”?

What kinda, yawn-infested songs list!!! Like, the only song that I actually know is probably “Cold Shoulder”!!

    Who’s Mishka B? Who’s Carey Underboobs?

    Who’s Jennifer HoodSongs?

    What is Mingle doing here?

Samantha baby, you are a FLOP honey!

    A
    F L O P P P P P P P ! ! ! !

    • BionicGlam March 30, 2013

Adele’s 21 is the biggest selling album of all time, is that boring too?

      • . : : h 2 o : : . March 30, 2013

“21” is the biggest-selling album of all time?

        LOL . . . Thanks for the laugh 🙄

      • It Takes One… March 30, 2013

Sorry, but the last time I checked MJ’s “Thriller” was the best selling album of ALL TIME w/ 65 million in sales. Adele’s “21” has 26 million in sales. A great feat for Adele, but don’t get it twisted.

  10. Hive March 30, 2013

    GET A VOCAL COACH XTINA!!!!!!!

  11. HLove March 30, 2013

    I will suggest the following:

    1. Adele – Set to the rain
    2. Rihanna – Diamonds
    3. Kelly Clarkson – Stronger
    4. Britney – Criminal
    5. Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love
    6. Beyonce – Love on top
    7. Bruno Mars – When I was your man
    8. Cee Lo Green – Forget You
    9. Ellie Gouldin – Anything Could Happen
    10. Pink – Try

    Bonus
    11. Paloma Faith – Picking Up The Pieces
    12. Taylor Swift – I Knew You Were Trouble

    ps.. vocal lesson

    • . : : h 2 o : : . March 30, 2013

      “Set Fire to the Rain”.

      What a FLOP Adele stan.

      • mr.m March 30, 2013

        DEAD!

    • NickiSaidDis March 30, 2013

I like your list but I’d replace Criminal with Trouble by Leona.

  12. JARED (WHITE DUDE) March 30, 2013

In my personal opinion, Christina Aguilera is an extremely talented woman who with-holds no particular direction in musical terms…

BACK TO BASICS IS THE ERA THAT MADE XTINA SHINE AND SHE NEEDS TO REVERT BACK TO IT; QUICKLY!!!!!!!

For one, she doesn’t have great delivery when it comes to Pop music. She has a strong voice but doesn’t really utilize it in a unique way. Singers with less powerful voices, like britney or rihanna, can make a Pop/EDM/Dance/Electronic Pop-hook sound like candy without a booming voice; Britney and Madonna in particular have recived a lot of s*** for their monotonous, nasal cooing, but her delivery is usually spot on when it comes to her House- orientated songs/music.

She needs to showcase why she is an ARTIST and not just a musical
Trend-Chaser. The days of Whitney/Mariah and Celine- based Power-Balladry have surpassed us (unfortunately) therefore she needs to amend her voice in a way that is current and commercial yet creative and expressive in an artistic way – along with the correct marketing and promotion.

    ORIGINALITY IS KEY.

    • Likica March 30, 2013

Nope girl, right now ballads are slaying. Look at When I Was Your Man, Stay, Just Give Me A Reason… Hurt and Beautiful are among her most commercially successful songs and they are ballads. Ofc she shouldn’t do just ballads, but they are the most important part of her discography. Dirrty kind of songs are welcome too, she looked fierce back in the day.

    • Music Soul Harmony March 30, 2013

She needs to stick with a theme. While Lotus coulda been a good idea the album cover was gross, songs mediocre and not as great as B2b and stripped.

      • Teflon Boy March 30, 2013

^This! Love Christina when she’s on point but Lotus’s campaign was extremely unfocused. In comparison to Stripped and B2B it was completely lacking of any discernible ‘point’ aside from the vague ‘being comfortable in ones own skin’ tag……, i.e. nice idea in theory but actually makes more sense as the concept of ONE song within a grander thematic project.

  13. my forehead tho March 30, 2013

    My song choices for her:

    1. Flop this way

    2 Rolling in Butter Beans

    3. If I were a skinny b****

    4. What’s my name

    5. When I was relevant

    6 Try (and failed)

    • CiCi Slaaaaays March 30, 2013

      b**** you are a hater

    • Likica March 30, 2013

B**** don’t be evil. Christina Aguilera and Stripped have outsold Beyonce’s/Rihanna’s album (SOLo) discography, plus she had successful Spanish albums.Even though Bionic was a flop, it is still remembered and it’s the most iconic flop album of all time. Even though if Xtina flops, she will never be irrelevant.

    • It Takes One… March 30, 2013

LMAO! I’m done w/ you. I like Xtina, but I just don’t see it for her anymore. She will always be remembered for being able to sing her ass off, but she should’ve stayed w/ “The Voice” and stacked them coins.

      • irene46 March 30, 2013

        @ likica…

i agree. no matter how much she flops she will always be relevant because even though the media hates her personally and constantly beats her down; they never deny her talent.

  14. CiCi Slaaaaays March 30, 2013

I need another back to basic album it was everything…

  15. Music Soul Harmony March 30, 2013

Also, it isn’t the slow, midtempo, or umtempo songs that’s the problem because with her voice she could easily sing anything. I think Sia could write her really great songs. I think pretty melodies like “Blank Page” are befitting for her style. She shouldn’t be pigeonholed with one genre. What helped her to succeed were her range of different types of songs. She should stick with that and just promote, imo.

  16. Music Soul Harmony March 30, 2013

AND we all know she’s needs voice lessons.

    • irene46 March 30, 2013

i’m a fan but i agree! her high notes are getting raspy!

  17. CiCi Slaaaaays March 30, 2013

    Body Party-Ciara

    Sorry-Ciara

    Drunk on Love-Rihanna

    Beautiful Liar- Beyonce

    Hello Hi Goodbye- Rita Ora

    Superman- Keri Hilson

    Someone like you – Adele

  18. . : : h 2 o : : . March 30, 2013

Dislike if you want a big Black d***.

    (Samantha don’t delete this)

  19. Likica March 30, 2013

    I’m here for Dirrty 2.0!

    Rowdy
    Gonna get a little unruly
Get it fired up in a hurry
    Wanna get dirrty
It’s about time that I came to start the party
Ooh sweat dripping over my body
Dancing getting just a little naughty
    Wanna get dirrty (oh, oh)
It’s about time for my arrival

“Dirrty” was iconic TBH.. And the MV……….

  20. my forehead tho March 30, 2013

    Bonus Track

    1. Love on muffin top

  21. HOWYOULIKEIT March 30, 2013

She’s been very lazy these years. Not involved in her own projects. What a shame

    • Likica March 30, 2013

Not involved? Gurl Xtina wrote almost all songs on Lotus. She seems as if she doesn’t care about promotion/sales but she is seriously involved in her music.

      • HOWYOULIKEIT March 30, 2013

Yes. She’s a good writer fo sure. But she barely performed your body, like the rest of the album. It’s time to get it together already

      • DNNY March 30, 2013

girl I see what he means, sure she’s involved and all that, but she does not back the album up… had she given full on performances for YB and JAF like JT did for Suit & Tie, the Lotus story would’ve been a lot different..

  22. Kent March 30, 2013

I will love her to do an upbeat rnb song like love on top without screaming but she seems to be only one to have really fell off out of the late 90s and early 2000 act bey, alicia keys, britney, pink, are still showing this new h*** how it should be done.

    • IDK March 30, 2013

Yea, I know she probably thinks her screaming is hot but its really not. I like her a lot and I think she should “Do her” this album a few ballads, a few clubs, lil rock/ R&B. And lose some weight! Im rooting for her tho because even tho Ive never followed her until I started coming on this site. I was really shocked by those sells. Im still shocked smh. But anyways goodluck Christina!

  23. AzealiaBankable March 30, 2013

Took me a minute but I got mine.

    1. Madonna Lucky star
    2. Rihanna Diamonds
    3. Nelly Furtado Man Eater
    3. Madonna Hung Up
    4. Kelly Clarkson Stronger
    5. Britney Everytime

  24. Kim Kardashian Stan March 30, 2013

I love riris drunk on love…. but Christina needs to take this next album seriously promote the hell out of it & choose the right singles babe i would like songs like these on her next album

Taylor Swift -I knew you were trouble
Rita ora -r.i.p. /she should also do a song with Drake
    Rihanna- Stay
    Keyshia Cole- I Choose You
    Rihanna- What Now
    Beyonce- Halo
    Britney Spears- Criminal

  25. Realest March 30, 2013

She’s had like 3 albums since 2002 and it’s safe to say Miss Aguilera peaked at “Stripped”. Her cocky ass attitude and sense of “I’m the best” has stunted her creativity and vocal growth at her second album. B2B was ok but it wasn’t stripped and the the other two just were, not bad, but forgettable. Shoulda stayed on “the voice” Hun!!!

  26. cake like lady gaga March 30, 2013

Bionic was Christina’s peak, she will need a comeback bigger than Mariah’s EOM to redeem herself!!

I can’t believe she is abandoning Lotus already though, there are a few songs on that album that needed to be released. Sing For Me, Let there Be Love and Army Of Me were gonna give Lotus the push it needed!!

    • Ever.Green March 31, 2013

AGREED!!! Let There Be Love is the most sadly, un-promoted song on the album!! If that hit the club, it would have been hot.
She will need a Mariah EOM style come back. Two under performing albums in a row… plus the gaps she takes between albums. She’s resting on her laurels, yet it’s been years. She’s almost pulling a Madonna (hasn’t had a number 1 since 2001), but at least Madonna created this “see my live”/concert act fall back, and can still make a splash despite any new hit songs. Christina hasn’t established that in the least. She does have the potential tho when she tries.

      • MAD-ON-HER March 31, 2013

Since 2001 Madonna has had four number one albums , several top ten hits and has sold about 30 million albums. The noughties weren’t all about touring for the queen, she slayed across the board..

  29. Tiffany22534 March 30, 2013

This b**** is a FLOP with her nasty asss attitude fat b****! Ugh… My legendary queen Mariah Carey can’t stand this cracker. Lets be real this b**** has not slayed since her FIRST f****** album that came out in like 1999! When my queen Mariah came out with her hit album Rainbow! Which by the way sold 10 million copies and gained 2 number 1 hits!!!!!!!!! Hahaha and that was mariahs 8th album!!! LOLOLOOL FLOP FAT ASSS B****!

    • Ever.Green March 31, 2013

Don’t be a mean Lamb. Mariah’s incomparable, and we know Christina is no Mariah (although she’d love to think she is); but Christina is talented … she just needs to get out of her own head and stop thinking she’s the Sh*t because she’s not at the legendary status she thinks she is. She’s not a flop, but she’ s defiantly not a Mariah, hell, she’s not even a britney spears!
She needs to humble herself and be an artist not a hot young thang chasing hits.

    • scent April 1, 2013

Xtina – Your Body, peaked at #34

      Mariah – Triumphant, peaked #115

      WHOS THE FLOP NOW LOLLL

      • Generation2000 July 17, 2013

Ok. The problem right now is her image she needs to realize that by coming off the wrong way she is going to drastically affect her sales she needs to change her attitude and better herself. Staying on The Voice is a great move to make as it will keep her relevant until she releases a major hit single along with being a better judge and really focusing on her strengths she has what it takes to dominate music but there has to be a GREAT amount of effort something she is seriously lacking

  30. FentySoSnatched March 30, 2013

    1. Diamonds.

  31. Tony March 30, 2013

I think something like Back To Basics Disc 2 but bring back Matt Morris for the songwriting. And Linda Perry as producer/songwriter.

  32. H01 March 30, 2013

Cheryl Cole – Call my name – Lead Single
Cee Lo Green – Forget you 2nd Single (before album)
Katy Perry – The one that got away

Bruno Mars – When you were my man
Keri Hilson – Pretty Girl Rock (2nd single)
Stooshe – Slip ft. Macklemore (Lead single)
    Rihanna – Half of me
    Emeli Sande

  33. DOSSOME March 30, 2013

She needs to do a world tour ASAP to remind fans why they should keep supporting her music..XTINA knows exactly why she’s underperforming,SHE’S JUST NOT PROMOTING..If she promoted all her albums like she did BACK TO BASICS,BIONIC would AT LEAST be 4million worldwide & LOTUS 3million ww (at least) in the current climate..I personally don’t see anything wrong with her music but she needs to take vocal lessons

    • Common Sense March 30, 2013

There’s no demand for her. So unless she wants to perform in an empty theater, she shouldn’t bother with tours.

  34. DNNY March 30, 2013

I truly adore this woman, and I expect and wish she does whatever she wants, if she wants to go EDM again, do it! if it’s AC this time, go for it, hell even if she wants to do a Metal album go for it! But it has to be properly promoted! Go to The Voice, Flop-Factor, The Grammys, AI, go to Japan, UK, Germany or wherever you need to, just promote the goddamn album! JT’s masterpiece would’ve pass overlooked by basic fans hadn’t he promoted the s*** out of it… it’s all about promotion girl! Other than that I have no complaints, she gives good music and I know she’ll be giving us something to sink our teeth into…

  35. King B>Rihanna March 30, 2013

i want a beautifully restraint ballad from Christina like Beautiful. She did not do all the tricks but it was perfectly executed.

i want a upbeat song like Dirrty.

and a dance track because her dance tracks are really good.

if she had not given up on Lotus…Let There Be Love would have been a perfect summer dance track.

  36. Sunshine March 30, 2013

Bruno Mars’s Treasure is one funky song. A funky sound for christina might work as long as she keeps it soft in the vocals.

  37. Clab March 30, 2013

She could start modeling for a fake plus size girl agency.

  40. Nichole March 30, 2013

Find a new label, and go “back to basics.”

  41. POP ROYALTY ( RUDE BOY) March 30, 2013

b****** be like ” go back to stripped/back 2 basics” but Xtina’s main problem is :

She doesn’t have an audience/hard-core fanbase !! they have moved on from her to the other girls !!!
she need to find a formula first to attract an audience to her !!

  42. kevin March 30, 2013

she needs an album written 100% by her and Sia.

  43. Just Saying March 30, 2013

this woman can sing anything. I jus think POP writers are a bad choice for her, they’re too simple. I think she needs to focus on what fans like. SOULFUL BALLADS and feel good pop songs. Her pop songs come off age inappropriate at times.

    Soulful pop album
    Pretty wIngs by Maxwell
    Baby Doll by Mariah Carey
    Sanctuary by Madonna
    Strawberry bubblegum by Justin Timberlake
love is a losing game by Amy Winehouse

    Running by No Doubt
lively Up Yourself by Bob Marley
    Lazuli by Beach house
Video Games by Lana Del Rey

I think her voice fits well in rock with some electronic influences not DANCE.

  45. Maestro J March 30, 2013

Christina needs to go HipHop Soul ala her Stripped album. Simple I’m not going to give examples of songs because Christina Aguilera is like no other singer in the game right now or ever. She needs to stick with that soul stirring base driven music that can carry her voice. Although she started out a ‘Pop princess’ Christina’s voice overwhelms the production a tad bit. Christina needs to get with the urban producers and song writters to craft her an album that we’ll never forget. THIS MESSAGE SHOULD BE SENT TO HER AND JORDIN SPARKS AS WELL… POP is ‘cute’ R&B is where its at… GET FAMILIAR

  46. S****** Blonde March 30, 2013

She does not need the kind of songs that other people are doing, follow the trend could be dangerous, her main problem is that she is not interested in her career, she lost the ambition she once had just like Britney, she wants to record music but not wants to carry out or promote it, another thing is that she don’t have the strength to make a solid album, she don’t have to respect herself but at least she should try to make a better album, she shines when she shows her talent to the world which is not doing the kind of album that Britney does, Madonna, Kylie and Britney are the masters or should i say combined they are “Pop at its finest”.

    • S****** Blonde March 30, 2013

“repeat herself”, sorry folks, long day.

  47. Charlie March 30, 2013

Christina worst issue is that people don’t like her and the media doesn’t care about her. Her image is damaged. Stop it with the s** already cua that doesn’t fit her, I don’t think straight men think she’s s*** and gay men like Britney and Madonna way better when it comes to s** songs. Girls don’t like her cuz they don’t feel a connection with her. Ok so, after cleaning her image and learn how to not scream the songs this is the album she should be making:
    1. Stay – Rihanna
    2. Ride – Lana del Rey
    3. Ray of Light – Madonna
    4. Like a Prayer – Madonna
    5. Some Nights – Fun
    6. Diamonds – Rihanna
    7. Sorry – Madonna
    8. Serious – Gwen Stefani
    9. Open Your Heart – Madonna
    10. What’s My Name – Rihanna
    11. Fighter 2.0
    12. Someone Like You – Adele

    • Common Sense March 30, 2013

You probably hit the nail on the head as to why she is flopping so hard. Her music is all over the place so she has no set audience. To add fuel to the fire, no one connects with her because she is neither s*** nor sympathetic. People love Britney/Madonna/Rihanna because they’re s***. People love Adele because she has an amazing personality. Xtina on the other hand has neither and alienates audiences in the process.

      • irenhttp://thatgrapejuice.net/2013/03/grape-juice-ar-christina-aguileras-8th-studio-album/?replytocom=2608062#responde46 April 15, 2013

unlike britney who is “sympathic” (pathetic is more accurate), christina is highly talented and has much “s***” potential if she would pull her look together.

And yet Beyonce could release an album and still push more than 200K in the first week based off of her name. If everyone thought she was the voice of the generation then she would sell. Only her delusional stans call her that.
Tina even knows beyonce is better than her. She has said so her self, so take a seat and go buy tragic and low point…

  50. christinastheerealtalent March 30, 2013

  51. Common Sense March 30, 2013

Vocal lessons, exercise, and a personality check bundled with an album with restrained ballads and catchy mid-tempo pop songs would bring her the sales her fans want to see.

  52. Xadax March 30, 2013

    I expected a rock album (sort of the main ingredient) after —{Bi~ON~iC}
as what Linda said in 2010 so: (She could even collaborate with these people!)
    1. Tuna In A Brine – Silverchair
    2. Disappear – Hoobastank (She could do this with Ladytron)
    3. Disappear – Hugo
    4. Everybody’s Changing – Keane
    5. What’s Up – Linda Perry
    6. Promises – The Cranberries
    7. I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing – Aerosmith
    8. Imagine – John Lennon
    9. Who Want’s To Live Forever – Queen
    10. Love Just Ain’t Enough – Patti Smith

  53. BionicX March 31, 2013

She should do songs that are mainstream pop but executed in a more modern way.

It’s the way Stripped was. It was pop but it had hints of latin, rock, RnB, and genius ways of sequencing, vocal arrangements, and beats.

She should to of course, ballads, the kind that are epic ala Beyonce’s Listen. SHe need not release those but album buyers will see those as gems in her portfolio.

She should do more up-tempo ballads such as Pink’s Just Give Me a Reason, dance pop with house elements like Let There Be Love and Feel This Moment, RnB/urban similar to WooHoo and Can’t Hold Us Down, and the usual addicting type ala YOUR BODY.

    • JOHNVIDAL March 31, 2013

      Beyonce´s Listen is epic???
It´s just boring, never was a hit and her voice doesn´t have the Wow quality for a real ballad

    11. Voice Within
    12. I’m OK

I think you get my point.

  56. t00 March 31, 2013

Christina is very talented. Is her voice the same as it was during her peak..sadly no it is not.
IT has become courser and raspier, however if she tones it down and realizes her vocal limits then she will be fine.
Also i’m not sure why people keep saying back to basics, that was the album that brought about her decline, ala Beyonce with 4. She doesn’t need another stripped either, She just needs to know her limits, act like she cares about her career and stop being a catty ass diva. Christina will be fine.

  57. lola March 31, 2013

Christina Flopuilera needs to give it up already. I’m tired of TGJ posting about her. Her last albums didn’t even go GOLD in the US and or sell over a million worldwide. Even if she sold 2 million worldwide, she would still be a flop. Nobody is checking for her anymore. I think it’s time for her to just raise her son and settle down. Her problem is that she tries too hard to fit in with this generation and her fans aren’t buying it. A lot of her newer material isn’t original. Even the ballads she released off her Bionic (forgot the name) and Lotus, “Just a Fool” flopped so I don’t agree that she needs a strong ballad. Her voice is damaged, she’s fat and unattractive, and she’s too arrogant and a b****. No matter what she releases, it will flop.

    • irene46 March 31, 2013

bey, britney and even madonna’s last album have sold 2 million or less ww. so it’s just hating to say that going from less than 1 million ww to 2 million ww would be a flop. anyway, no matter if christina does flop she ain’t going any where because she’s an icon from the late 90s and her talent gives her staying power. the music industry would be short a few less females if all the arrogate b****** were kicked into retirement.

  58. irene46 March 31, 2013

    1. ‘unbreak my heart’ toni braxton
    2. ‘all the man i need’ whitney houston
    3. ‘grenade’ bruno mars
    4. ‘dirty’ christina

  59. gritty April 1, 2013

it shouldnt be that difficult, she just makes it that way by releasing these mediocre-ass singles and then not promoting them. cant no one be successful doing what shes been doing with her last two albums….. she just needs to get it together, she hasnt had a song on radio in foreeeeeeeever… the girl can sing anything she just needs a good catchy song and PROMOTE it, its not rocket science.

  60. R&BTina April 1, 2013

Since she can’t sell Pop Records anymore, why not finally go the R&B route? R&B is not selling anymore, so it wont make a difference, but it would suit her voice much better! I’ve been waiting for that since Stripped. She should listen to Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, John Legend, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Robin Thicke, The Roots, Miguel, Mary J., old school Usher / Destiny’s Child /R Kelly….and do a record like that! I’m not here for more “Not Myself Tonight”, “Your Body”, or f*ck u haters songs…..just something with depth (like the stripped lyrics) and no oversinging. but well i guess i can wait for that forever…

  61. Tee April 1, 2013

After Bionic AND Lotus, I am really hoping that both Xtina and her record label finally realise that she should NOT be making dance pop music. There is a reason that Stripped and Back To Basics are the most respected and critically-acclaimed albums in her discography. Not only are they her most urban-influenced records to date, but they also play to her greatest strength; THAT VOICE!! They are the most genuine/organic of her records, and every song on them is beautifully crafted and produced. Lyrically, they both come from a very real, very honest and quite often, very dark and introspective places (see I’m OK).

In my opinion, Xtina’s next album needs to be rooted in the same honesty and integrity of Stripped and Back To Basics records. As a lyricist, she is an AMAZING storyteller (see Walk Away) and although she is a pop artist, her vocals are rooted in soul and R&B. These are the genres where she TRULY shines. The ‘playful’ and often cheesy dance pop of her last 2 albums is a HUGE step back in terms of the quality and evolution of her artistry. I still don’t understand how one manages to go from tracks as exquisite, mature and beautifully written as Walk Away, Loving Me 4 Me and Save Me From Myself to the dire-pop of I Hate Boys, Army of Me and Glam on Lotus and Bionic.

For her next album I would LOVE to see Xtina make an adult contemporary album that is heavily-influenced by 1990’s R&B and soul. Sophisticated, smooth and sensual tracks, with a mixture of hazy, low-key electronic production in the vein of Jessie Ware and Frank Ocean on some songs, and harder hip-hop beats on others, with her vocals always taking center stage; almost like a modern reinvisioning of Mariah’s Butterfly record (see The Roof). On the production front I would like to see DJ Premier make a return. They created pure magic on Back To Basics, and he would be the perfect collaborator for Christina on this kind of record. As for new blood, I would love to see Xtina collaborate with Dev Hynes, Shea Taylor, Noah “40” Shebib, Malay, Balistiq and Raphael Saadiq. I would also like to see Linda Perry return as a co-writer as she and Xtina create lyrical magic with one another.

Musical references would be made back to the work of Lauryn Hill and the Fugees, D’Angelo, Sade, Prince, TLC’s CrazySexyCool record & Mariah Carey’s Butterfly. Modern influences would include Jessie Ware (Running, Night Light, Swan Song and Sweet Talk), Delilah (Inside My Love, So Irate) and Frank Ocean (see Thinkin’ Bout You, Sweet Life, Bad Religion and Pink Matter). Production queues would also be taken from Drake’s Take Care record (see Shot For Me, Take Care, Doing It Wrong, The Real Her) and Beyonce’s album 4 (see I Miss You, Rather Die Young, Dance For You) and Amy Winehouse’s Frank record (In My Bed, Take The Box, What Is It About Men). Reference would also be made Christina’s own Stripped and Back To Basics records, specifically tracks such as Walk Away, Loving Me 4 Me, Impossible, Understand and On Our Way.

    Just my opinion. 😛

voice lessons and her old glam look back or drop the s*** pretense. why she’s fighting against these is a mystery.

  63. Dajomo April 7, 2013

I think it’s unfortunate that the world’s outlook has come to this negative point concerning Christina. I really just want to press a “rewind button” for her. I think she started out right at the time of her debut. I mean even to be Britney Spears’ opposite at the time, you have to be doing something right. I think she was smart following the bubble gum pop era with her first record. I do think her marketing her spanish album did benefit her latin fan base, although she never played it up enough for her to be considered a latin music artist. Stripped caught my attention the most. Bold, thoughtful, with a “F*** it” attitude. She looked great, acted her age. I consider Stripped to be her best body of work. I regret not seeing her live during that era. I think she did something good and bad with Back To Basics. Vocally, I think she was at her prime. The concept was cool, and really lived up to it’s name and had a depth that Stripped had. However, I think it aged her somewhat. Back to basics took her out of the mainstream to come. I think she also took too much time to “live life” in between projects. Although I think it’s important for anybody to take time and experience life, she should’ve experienced life while still grinding on the music scene. Doing a music theme’d movie was a bad choice in my opinion. And then to immediately come out with the futuristic/experimental Bionic ( which I actually liked ) right after just didn’t make sense. Esthetically she looked a hot mess. She was vintage one day, futuristic robot the next, meanwhile dipping her toes into perfume sales. She did too much in one chunk of time and it probably threw people off. Her promotion for the last two albums blew. Her marketing probably got too consumed in what was happening in music current day, and as a result she got lost. She again tried to be too many different personalities with Lotus. She’s still somewhat young in actuality, but she’s at the point where you can’t go “too young” and you shouldn’t go “too mature” either. I would like for her to get her s*** back together, figure out what works for her voice nowadays. We all know her voice isn’t what it once was, but no one’s voice would be after years of belting while touring. She should just neutralize her look. Trim down some. Stick to one gimmick if any. Just be a pretty girl that sings! Why has that idea not crossed her mind yet? If you compare her and Britney, Britney would obviously be the pick for someone who is doing things right, or her management anyway. Looks wise, Britney is seemingly more youthful in her fashion choices and music alike. But comparing their actual looks, Christina really still looks young in her face, crazy clown make up aside. When she’s more neutral she could pass for mid 20’s which could give her a huge advantage if she played it right. Britney, hate to say it is actually looking old, and could benefit from some minor plastic surgery of some kind. Christina still has a shot with the right strategy. It might be one last shot, but a shot non the less. I don’t even want to give her a list of songs other’s have already put out. I think she should come out with a clear vision/focus. She’s been through so much, it’d be hard for me to believe she doesn’t have something to sing about.
If she does indeed flop again, there’s always JOJO… FREE JOJO.
