Report: Jennifer Lopez Departs Def Jam / Signs With RedOne Label

Published: Thursday 25th Apr 2013 by Rashad

‘Goin’ In’ singer Jennifer Lopez is goin’ to a new label if newly surfaced reports are to be believed.

Shortly after sending fans into a frenzy with the announcement of her new RedOne produced, Pitbull-assisted single ‘Live It Up’, now the rumor mill is spinning stories indicating Lopez’s already extensive resume with the producer just got one more notch…

Via HitsDailyDouble:

With RedOne helmed hits ‘On the Floor’ and ‘Dance Again’ largely attributed with the resurgence of Lopez’s career, word has it the songstress has moved to his imprint at Steve Barnett’s Capitol Music Group.

The move will mark the third label shift the hitmaker has had in the last three years.

We can’t say that this was all that bad of a decision.  For, like Gaga, the RedOne sound has ultimately been what’s kept Lopez’s name afloat on charts and immeasurably contributed to her musical resurgence.  Nevertheless, as ‘On the Floor’ has had its moment in time, here’s hoping the duo work to craft a fresh, new sonic approach and not try to recreate that magic that was.

Hopefully with the talent the two possess, what lies in waiting is something just as good or better.

NEW YORK — PepsiCo is selling more its snacks and drinks around the world, even as the maker of Frito-Lay, Tropicana and Quaker Oats tries to figure out how to sell more soda in the United States.

For its beverage unit in the Americas, however, revenue was flat as price hikes offset a drop in volume. Soft drink volume in North America declined in the mid-single digits.

“The cola category continues to be a challenge,” CEO Indra Nooyi noted in a conference call with analysts.

Over the past year, PepsiCo has significantly stepped up marketing for its namesake drink, including an endorsement deal with the pop star Beyonce. But it’s struggling to win back market share from Coca-Cola Co. at a time when Americans are continuing to cut back on soda in favor of water, sports drinks and bottled teas.

PepsiCo, based in Purchase, N.Y., offers a variety of drinks in all those categories, including Aquafina, Gatorade and Lipton. But Nooyi noted that the company has to be careful about investing more heavily in one brand at the expense of another. Soda, for example, is generally more profitable than bottled water and still makes up the bulk of its beverage sales.

Look I love j lo but I don’t know about this… She obviously has a big name but red one’s label? I’m nervous about this… Maybe he’ll devote his time to the one big act he has… I’m rooting for her all the way but yikes. And is this true about her replacing Mariah?! Good lord.

    • tom April 26, 2013

She can’t get anyone else to sign her on a label, so she has no choice, besides, no one is going to sign you up when your music doesn’t sell? Did anyone buy her last 2 albums??? we guess not, because they were both glops, How long has Jlo be in the industry?? and with no Grammy’s in 25 years???? no one is going to waste their money on someone that can’t sell their own s***? Would you waste million on Jlo??? I guess not????

  12. ReDDs April 26, 2013

She (JLo) should NOT come back to idol she tend to send

  17. Gerard April 26, 2013

Sources in the music industry are stating Jlo is a big risk in the music industry because of her history of poor volume sales of latest 2 albums, so bad that her latest records company took a big lost, and refuse to negotiate any new contacts because of her track records, it look like Jlo should get out of the music business since everyone knows of her history in the music industry.?
And their also stating story in her movie career after poor sales ratings in her last 3 movies, JLo needs to find another career?

  18. Ted April 26, 2013

As they say, 3 times and you’re out??? that’s how many time Jlo has change record companies in the last 3 years, maybe after this failed attempt, she’s quick, we hope finally after 20 plus year in the industry??????
