A$AP Rocky: ‘I Respect Men More For Coming Out’

Published: Friday 3rd May 2013 by David

It would appear ‘Swim Good‘ star Frank Ocean has found a supporter in ‘Fashion Killa’ chart topper A$AP Rocky.

For, in a recent interview with KYSDC, the Rapper slammed closeted gay men and praised the entertainer for the bravery he showed when he revealed he had been romantically involved with a male friend before rising to notoriety.

Rocky’s support below…

He explained:

“That’s his business. I respect men more for coming out. People joke on Frank Ocean a lot but at least he’s not out here fronting. It’s a lot of people, a lot of motherf*ckers be out here, they be the closet motherf*ckers, you know? I don’t respect them. I respect gay men who identify it and who are out with it. I don’t have a problem with gay people at all. So it’s like, that’s his business. It don’t concern me. Number one, I barely get to watch basketball like that as it is. Number two, I don’t even know who this n*gga is that you talking about. Dead a**. He probably has ten times more money than me but I don’t know who he is. We got the Frank Ocean of the NBA now who came out and did what he had to do. Shout-outs to him.”

With his comments mind, let us know…

Do ‘closeted’ public figures have a duty to ‘come out’?

I really do think he is a gay too

    • Nivea May 3, 2013

im patiently waiting for ‘asap’s’ release papers >side-eye<

99.5% of the men in the industry….no i take it back, majority of the men in the industry are guy!!

it's 2013, people could really care less anymore, unless, you don't have any personal business of your own!

–but kudos to the QUEENZ, who were able to make it into the industry, and make their COINZ!!!

  2. JARED (WHITE DUDE) May 3, 2013

If that’s the case, why doesn’t he “come out”?

He’s cute… But he does “scream” Gay to me.

    🙂

  6. DOSSOME May 3, 2013

Cheering on gay people from inside the closet…hmmmm…

  7. Kim Kardashian Stan May 3, 2013

Dont be surprised when asap comes out the closet

  8. JOHNVIDAL May 3, 2013

Well he´s comments are nice. Nobody should be pushed to come out if they don´t want to though.
Why are all of you saying this man is gay too? It doesn´t scream gay to me 🙂
Plus, if it were for you everybody would be gay: Trey Sons, Miguel, NeYo, Chris Brown, Jason Derulo, John Legend, Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon, etc, etc. I mean it´s not possible lol

To answer the question, I think no. It’s nobody’s business how you live your life as long as you’re not hurting anybody and do good things. Half the industry’s men have dabbled with the dong and Asap is one of them but that’s his business and he doesn’t need to share it

it amazes me how everyone thinks he is such a great example for coming out but why did he have relationships with women though and was engaged? i know they are born that way, so he was using women and spreading illnesses, then when he comes out, he’s a role model???…

A$AP rocky, like most new rappers, relies on shock value because he is a mediocre lyricist.
Kendrick Lamar never needed a gimmick to be successful.

Well, I agree with him, and I’ll check out his last album A$AP.

    • LA LA May 3, 2013

Well now you will. Same like F*G Ocean, no one was checking for him until he came out the closet. Asap is GAY too.

    You’re very beautiful!!!!!!!!! 😀

I respect A$VP for his constant praise on homosexuality and wanting people to be who they are, but I feel it’s becoming a bit much.. What other rapper you know get asked questions like this in damn near EVERY interview they do? Not saying its any of my business what or who A$VP is doing (Cuz trust, if I get that man in my bed…..Nevermind) lol, but he as a rapper does not need to be known as “The straight rapper that only talks about embracing homosexuality ALL the time” because then that’ll effect his appeal to straight men and more so, people who aren’t so welcoming of homosexuality. I love him tho. =) Call me A$VP!

  15. Carpe Diem. May 3, 2013

I would respect you more if you came out Mr Rocky!!

I don’t agree with this “out of the closet” thing unless you are pretending to be or sleeping with women to fool people. If you’re famous and living your life and you already identify who you are to the people you know and the person you love, who’s business is it really? And why does it have to be national business? Rocky didn’t come out as a black man he came out as a rapper who happened to be black. The basket ball player only needed to be a basket ball player and frank ocean only needed to be a singer. The coming out I feel should only be relevant to the situation otherwise no-one should care.
THJ, why did you have to find the most homoeroticism picture of Rocky.

    • Movida May 3, 2013

Frank Ocean is about as good at being gay as he is a singer…. And he ain’t a good singer

    • KNUCK May 3, 2013

      I agree with this

  17. HOTSTUFF May 3, 2013

what is wrong with you gays ???? just because he is showing his support to the gay community doesn’t mean he is gay ! then yall are the first to scream this is homophobic, that’s homophobic blablabla…

    • lol May 4, 2013

      ^ True

  18. S****** Blonde May 3, 2013

No one should be forced to come out, i’m not interesting in anyone’s s** life. Matt Bomer is my LGBT hero, he’s gorgeous, he’s desire for millions of women, he’s career hasn’t peaked yet and he is proud to be a Gay man, he has a relationship, some kids, although that won’t last much, he’s gonna be mine. On Topic, i don’t know who this guy is, never hear of him, he looks like a b**** tho.

There seems to be a growing trend amongst straight and ‘supposedly’ straight celebs *side-eye* lately claiming support for out and open gay people, while condemning everyone who doesn’t choose to be out and loud with their business. There is a big difference between someone who is private about their sexuality and someone who selfishly sleeps with and lies to the opposite s** while cheating with the same s**. This recent trend of attempting to Cattle-Prod people Out The Closet seems to miss this fact.

What I’m finding especially ignorant is that hate crimes still happen; in certain cultures gay people are still executed yet a media that 5 minutes ago was slating and condemning homosexuality as sissy boy sin is now attempting to use Hiphop as a means to bully and force the more Masculine BLACK URBAN demographic (let’s not pretend otherwise) out of the closet with the bare-faced lie that the LANDSCAPE is different and it’s suddenly ALL LOVE in the hood. I’m sorry but there is a world of difference between someone who is so flaming they couldn’t hide it if they tried and thus the world accepting what’s in front of them and someone with a less obvious demeanor who may well lose friends, family and the support of their community for being open about it. I think it is better to be out but people should be allowed to be out on their own terms and not targeted by a witch hunt media that has no interest in protecting you once it has exposed you.

Still trying to figure out which stunt Frank Ocean is gonna pull when his next album comes out since he is not the only Black public figure that came out.

  21. lol May 4, 2013

He is SOOOOOOO UGLY and stupid … But i’m glad he has an open mind, as everyone should have.
Oh and the queens above me wishing on a star should stfu for real. He ain’t gay.
