D.Woods On Danity Kane Reunion: “I Will Not Be Part Of It”

Published: Wednesday 15th May 2013 by Sam

The ‘net was set ablaze this week following news that Urban Pop group Danity Kane are reportedly reuniting.

Yet, while almost all of the ladies were present during the carefully calculated press shot, one member was notable in her absence – D.Woods.

Speculation has been rife as to why the singer was not snapped with her former band-mates – who reportedly have new management and are piecing together a tour and new material to support it. Yet, keen to set the record straight, Woods has released a statement declaring her status in the reunion many Making The Band fans have been waiting for.

Her words after the jump…

Talking to our friends over at Freddy O, Woods offered the following:

“It has been brought to my attention that my former group members of Danity Kane will be reuniting and while I will not be a part of the reunion; I wish the ladies blessings and much success on their endeavors.”

Presently working on several projects including stage play ‘Rebirth! The Musical’ (set to kick off at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA on May 30th),  Woods cited other opportunities as her reason for not reprising her role in the x2 Platinum ensemble.

“My focus is on the future and all of the exciting opportunities it holds, I thank you all for your continued support and I cannot wait for you to hear my new music and see my theater and film projects. Please visit my website for news and updates on my upcoming projects www.missdwoods.com Blessings and Love.”

As integral as Ms. Woods is to the DK brew of brilliance, we also respect the fact that she has her focus vested elsewhere and ultimately wish her the best of luck with her endeavours.

That said, the cynic in us feels there’s more to the matter than the reason she provided. For, in our last interview with her, she appeared genuinely crushed at being “fired” by Diddy on live TV. A sentiment we “get” in earnest. After all, it’s folk like D that are left to deal with reality of what makes reality TV so compelling — drama.

In any case,  we’ll be following this Danity Kane reunion with vested interest.
