Google Launch Spotify Rival: Google Music Play All-Access

Published: Thursday 16th May 2013 by Sam

Streaming has become such an integral aspect of the music industry these days. Indeed, from deciding chart positions to more recently being awarded its own Gold and Platinum certifications, online play of music is redefining the market at a rapid rate.

Naturally, then, more and more corporations are eager to make their presence felt in the streaming arena. The latest? Google.

The internet juggernaut this week drew the curtain back on their new streaming service – Google Music Play All Access. A direct rival to similar-themed services such as Spotify and Pandora, read more about what the platform will have on offer after the jump…

The US launch of the service took place at the I/O keynote in San Francisco yesterday and comes following news that the online giant has cemented licensing deals with music forces Sony, Universal, and Warner.

Like its rivals, ‘Google Play Music All-Access’ is a subscription-based service and aims to make a splash with its competitive price point of $9.99 (£6.60) a month. What’s more; launched with a 30-day free trial, users who sign up for the service before June 30th can subscribe at the discounted price of $7.99 (£5.25).

Billed as a “uniquely Google approach to a music subscription service”, users will be able to listen to songs on demand, stream radio, search through categories, and alter pre-set playlists.

Available as both a desktop and mobile application, Google’s Chris Yerga said of the service: “Music unites us. It’s universal. With ubiquitous mobile devices, there’s the potential to bring that joy with us wherever we are.” {Source}

 With Apple reportedly set to unwrap their own streaming service soon, competition is heating up. Who has your support?

    damm rihanna is really the queen of the digital age. she’s like what madonna did for pop music to what she’s doing for music digitally. streaming is gonna be the new thing, plus i heard itunes will be doing this too. more competition the better.
