Janelle Monae & Ciara Impact British Charts With New Singles

Published: Friday 3rd May 2013 by David

It may be miles away from their usual stomping grounds, but that hasn’t stopped Janelle Monae and Ciara from feeling the love in the UK this week…thanks to their brand new singles.

Want to know how?

Chart check after the jump!

Thanks to the momentum generated by the number online, Monae’s ‘Q.U.E.E.N‘ has whipped up a transatlantic storm and made its way to iTunes Urban UK, currently perched at #8.

Quite interestingly, the cut would have earned a higher position had it have been for the British leg of Beyonce’s ‘Mrs.Carter Show’– which saw jams from her debut album ‘Dangerously In Love’ soar and stay in the Top 5.

Meanwhile, Ciara‘s scorching new single ‘Body Party’ slow grinds its way to #12, while perched at #9 on the French Urban spot, three places below ‘Q.U.E.E.N’, which features ‘Apple Tree‘ songbird Erykah Badu– whose last album ‘New Amerykah Part Two’ debuted on the Billboard 200 with 110,000 units.

Congratulations to all!

I don’t even like Rihanna but its a shame Ciara can’t chart without the Rihanna “beef”.

She has two multiplatinum albums, 8 top tens and Ride charted. so wheres ur logic?

How’s Rihanna tour doing? she barely doing for herself..

    • Ballsy May 3, 2013

I find it suspect that Ciara release 4 singles and non went on to chart and Rihanna gave Party Body a side eye and it charted. I think La set this whole fued up to help her since T Paine 2.0 was not enough!

    • FUTURE-Ciara May 3, 2013

Yeah, kinda like how Rihanna can’t chart without sucking JZ up behind closed doors. We all know she’s not pulling her own strings so have a seat. I mean the queen is one of her bosses. At least Ciara manages to still stay relevant without getting f***** up by her ex. She is a survivor and only time will tell.

      • HALF AMAZIN May 4, 2013

One of her bosses? Last time I checked, managers work for the artist and not the other way around. If Rihanna has a boss it’s somebody at her record label which is Def Jam.

Go perch yourself atop all the seats!>>>>>>>>>>

But she can’t beat the Rihanna Reign. She’s no 1 on Itunes

    • speechless May 3, 2013

she doesnt have to. rihanna has no reign if she did it would take her so long to go platinum.

I wish people would just give credit when its due. But no, people on this site have to cause an argument on everything.

Kudos to them both, but no-one lives for the R&B chart. It be like you sell 15 copies and you’re number 1. Hail! I don’t even live for the real charts.
