The Urban music world is in mourning this morning. For, it has been sadly confirmed that Kriss Kross star Chris Kelly has been found dead. He was 34.

According to TMZ, the rapper was found unconscious in his home and was pronounced dead around 5:30PM EST at the south campus of the Atlanta Medical Center.
As part of Kris Kross, Kelly shot to superstardom in the ’90s with following the blockbuster success of the group’s mega-hit, ‘Jump’. Beyond music, the duo were also impacted Pop culture with their trademark practice of wearing their dungarees backwards.
Most bittersweet is the fact that Kelly and Rap partner, Chris ‘Daddy Mac’ Smith, were last seen rocking Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def 20th Anniversary back in February.
In a joint press statement released today, Kelly’s mother and So So Def said:
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Chris Kelly has passed away on May 1. To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music. But to us, he was just Chris – the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party. Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him.”

RIP CK. A vital part of my childhood. I was introduced to SOSO DEF, Brat, Xscape, Jagged Edge, etc. all from the start of Kris Kross. It was rumored years ago that he had leukemia, but no one knows for sure just yet. May his soul rest now. So sad considering they were just reunited for the SOSO DEF reunion show. Thankfully, he was able to reunite with everyone one last time!
