R&B veteran Usher is to be awarded with the ASCAP Golden Note Award this summer, in honor of his tireless contributions to the world of entertainment.

During its 26th Annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards on June 27th, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers will honor the R&B veteran for the extraordinary milestones he has achieved in his career- one of these being the funds he has raised with and for the ‘New Look’ organisation, which affords young people the opportunity to change their lives through the power of education.
Another, being the role he has plays as one of R&B’s strongest heartbeats, boasting global sales of over 65 million albums sold worldwide, and the example he has set for a number of his creative heir apparents….Justin Bieber, Elijah Blake, Omarion, Miguel and Chris Brown to name five.
On his career, ASCAP’s President Paul Williams said of the star:
“Usher’s musical evolution over the years clearly proves his versatility and longevity as an artist, performer and songwriter. The world has moved to his music for nearly two decades. Happily for the rest of us, from the sound of his latest work, it’s clear that the beat will go on and on. Usher is the perfect candidate to receive one of our top honors — the ASCAP Golden Note Award.”
When quizzed on the honor, Raymond revealed:
“I take the art of songwriting and music-making very seriously, so to be given the ASCAP Golden Note Award from an organization of my fellow music creators is a huge honor. I’ve been blessed to have such a wonderful career, working with some of the most talented people in the business, and I am just getting started!”
