Having provided a taste of ‘Fine China’, stage blazer Chris Brown continues his ‘X’ campaign with a brand new single.
Little is known about the track, however fan-footage from the shoot for its accompanying video yesterday has yield some interested tidbits – the most notable being its seeming feature of an Aaliyah sample.
Details and video below…
Sources say the shoot took place in Compton, California. Peep the clip below which sees C. Breezy lip-synching to a new song that features part of an Aaliyah cut titled ‘Don’t Think They Know’.
Already floating around on Youtube, the version already out sees the late songstress serve as a feature (with Digital Black as the main act). Yet, the Aaliyah vocals present in the clip above aren’t actually performed by her in the version of the song already doing the rounds. Put simply, Brown appears to have landed himself a much sought-after unheard Aaliyah verse which arguably a major coup as the July 16th release of ‘X’ draws nearer.
That said, besides re-opening the debate about whether the fallen diva’s unheard material should stay just that (see: unheard), Brown’s new track is super ironic. Why, you may wonder? Well, color us cynical, but we doubt there any coincidence in the fact that rival Drake has (up until now) been the main name attached to Aaliyah’s musical “revival”.
What’s more, with the ‘Rock The Boat’ singer being a soft-spot of sorts for Drizzy, it’ll be interesting to see what -if anything- he will have to say about this. For now though, we want to know…
