After winning the second season of ‘Fox’s ‘American Idol’ ten years ago, today has seen Ruben Studdard announced as a forthcoming contestant on NBC’s ‘The Biggest Loser‘, in a fresh and inspiring weight loss bid.
Billed the ‘Velvet Teddy Bear’, the ‘Listen To Ya Heart’ crooner will embark on a new weight loss journey on the 15th season of the hit tv show, hitting US screens in the fall and set to see the performer shed weight he gained following his divorce in 2012.
On his weight, People report the star to have shared:
“I’ve never had an issue with my weight, but my family has a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart-related issues – things I didn’t have to deal with yet because I’m young. But I don’t want to be worried at 40, and if I don’t fix things now, I will be.”
Marking a bold step in the right direction for Studdard, his joining of the show will see him compete with other weight loss hopefuls, all hoping to shed significant weight one year after a Mr. Jeremy Britt won the show’s 13th season, who lost 199 pounds during his time on the series.
