Justin Timberlake is VMA bound!
The Pop maestro will not only be taking to the stage to perform at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards next Sunday, he’ll be taking home one of the night’s most coveted Moon Men.

As well as taking to the stage in support of new album ‘The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2)’, the former NSync’er will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award – an honor bestowed on Madonna, REM, and The Beastie Boys in prior years.
The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards will also feature live showings from the likes of Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Robin Thicke, and Miley Cyrus.

In keeping it 100, we’re struggling to see why JT (at this point of his career) is being touted in such a legendary context. A megastar he may be, but his solo impact still needs more mileage to be granted such a hefty honor. Especially, with icon Michael Jackson’s named attached to it. Still, “congrats” are in order, we guess? This will no doubt serve give quite the boost to ‘part 2’ of ‘The 20/20 Experience’ when it arrives on September 30th.

I could care less of the award, i’m here for him, why are people mad, because he’s white, get over it, he’s a Pop Icon, something that Usher and the rest of the MJ wannabes (which JT is too) failed to become.
This has nothing to do with him being white or a “so called” pop icon. I’m black and me personally I don’t think Usher deserves it either so that whole race issue is irrelevant to me. The Vanguard award is for artists who have changed the music video medium (MJ, Madonna, Janet) and have influential videos that have been replicated by other artists. Where does Justin Timberlake’s videos fall within any of those categories? Did any of his videos change the way videos are made? Did any of his videos have influence on other artists? If no, then he shouldn’t be given the honor. I’m not hating on the guy cuz I actually enjoy some of his music. But in terms of a video artist he is extremely mediocre.
Well, if that’s the case the award should be erase from the lits cause i don’t think anyone can’t be compared to those legends you mentioned in terms of music videos, the show must go on with mediocre or not music videos.

Janet has already been given the Vanguard award in 1990 and she was tributed by MTV in 2001. Justin does not deserve this award tho. None of his videos are memorable or groundbreaking.
