I usually have hope in the American Music Awards but the “Favorite Album – Soul/R&B” category is disgusting.

    • Marcus October 10, 2013

I Was Thinking The Same Thing ! Smh Ciara’s C.I.A.R.A. Album Could Have At Least Been Nominated & Kelly Rowland’s Also.

      • Janet October 10, 2013

I said the same thing. They can nominate Ciara but no Kelly Rowland….yea i wont be watching !!!

    • GoldenBoy J October 10, 2013

most of the nominations are jokes tbh

      • beyonce calendar is a hot mess October 10, 2013

they cant nominate kelly because she is lazy as f***.. she has an album which has already flop, despite she has very platform to promote it rather all she talk about on her facebook page is Get your s*** abs Girl pls.

  2. HaHa October 10, 2013

Ciara!!! For Favorite Female R&B artist

    • P*** IT UP FAIL October 10, 2013

  3. Lana the legend October 10, 2013

You know Rihanna or Alicia keys will win top r&b artist Ciara don’t stand a chance.

  4. Nai October 10, 2013

    Rihanna 4 norms yesss!!!

    • truth(the new and refined TRUTH. f*** icki she done now i just slay a b****…yew mad??) October 10, 2013

  5. Slaylor swift October 10, 2013

No Katy Miley or Gaga nominations? Lol but Ciara got one kiii

    Congrats to Taylor Bruno &Rihanna

Yall already know they’ll kiss Justin ass and give him all the awards

    • Mark111 October 10, 2013

Oh their albums dropped? No? Then why would they get a nom?

    • Stop the drama Start the music October 10, 2013

I’m pretty sure Ciara won’t win and those three haven’t had new albums or material.

  6. RICHIE_RICH October 10, 2013

    Damn what happen to Fantasia??????

    • Haw October 10, 2013

I am thinking of the same thing!!
      She should be nominated!

  7. B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 10, 2013

    Favorite Album – Soul/R&B

    Rihanna – Unapologetic
Justin Timberlake – The 20/20 Experience
    Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines

    They CANNOT be serious.

    • MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

Why not? These are the top selling r&b albums of the year.

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 10, 2013

LOVE Rihanna, but she is pop through and through.

Timberlake’s album is also nominated in the favorite pop/rock category. Which is it?

Robin has made R&B/Soul albums in the past. This one ain’t it.

I understand this is about sales but this category is just ridiculous. If you, and others, believe these are R&B albums, cool.

      • MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

I personally did not buy any of those albums but each one of these artists had huge hits at urban radio this year making them contenders in the r&b catgories. Rihanna with Pour It Up and even Love Song, Robin with Blurred Lines and JT with Suit and Tie.

Yes these albums all have pop elements but none of them are strictly pop. Maybe Urban Pop or Pop/R&B.

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 10, 2013

I agree that each album contains elements of R & B and so does Miley Cyrus’ “Bangerz.”

Again, I understand WHY they were nominated but that doesn’t change the fact that their nominations are ridiculous.

    • S. Gman October 10, 2013

      I know for a fact that Justin Timberlake’s album IS Soul/ R&B but Rihanna’s Unapologetic…that’s a pop album…not a R&B tbh…Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines…well it’s half R&B and half pop…idk but they should check these two nominees again…

  8. Lovebird (Prism – 10.22.13) October 10, 2013

If Rihanna wins artist if the year, I’ll LMAO because she’s not American.

    Anyway these norms are decent.

    • RICHIE_RICH October 10, 2013

She won’t win it so no worries, J.T will win that. Bookmark please.

    • FRESH NAVI October 10, 2013

      come on Lovebird…

      its the american music artist

Rihanna’s nationality is Bajan but she’s an american recording artist thats her domestic market which is essentially why she can be nominated in the category.

    • GoldenBoy J October 10, 2013

      she’s not an artist either!

  9. Jamie October 10, 2013

Having a hit record got Ciara a nomination Keyshia Tamar Kelly and the rest of the r&b chicks need to catch up.

    • BitchPlease October 10, 2013

Exactly not to mention her second single I’m out was #44 on the Hot 100 Body Party was in the top 10 on Bilboard Hiphop/R&b charts & Bilboard r&b charts Plus number #1 on the Bilboard Dance charts hell even Sorry was in the top 10 on that same chart. K michelle, Kelly, Fantasia, & Tamar think fans they deserve that nomination because they sold a few copies more than her but they didn’t have no hit records.

  10. BobbyJay October 10, 2013

Rihanna!!!!!! i wish chrisett Michelle was nominated how ciara get nominated over tamar, fantasia, and kelly.

    • Molly October 10, 2013

Ciara got nominated over them because she actually had a big hit this year.. She the only r&b girl this year to receive a gold plaque.

      • . : : h 2 o : : . October 10, 2013

“Bathroom Party” was a big hit ?

How much did it sell again ?

        Where did it peak ?

      • Molly October 10, 2013

Sold more than grown woman standing on the sun and bow down.

      • . : : h 2 o : : . October 10, 2013

“Bathroom Party” has sold more than “Slaying C-Error From The Throne” and “Grown Woman” ?

        The lies …

  11. joeybadass October 10, 2013

Yasss at ciara being nominated for favoirite rnb she might just win with the success of her rnb hit “body party” you never know . She’s been nominated for an award at every award show this year. Hopefully a grammy nom

  12. justme October 10, 2013

The awards are based off of sales so if your gave didn’t sale anything no nomination. . Also they have a cut off date so Gaga miley katy probably wouldn’t get one if they didn’t drop a million the first wk

  13. . : : h 2 o : : . October 10, 2013

Any nominees where “C-Error” is listed under “female” categories is pretty much irrelevant to me. I’m sorry.

    • Molly October 10, 2013

Mad Beyonce didn’t get any nominations this year kiiii

      • . : : h 2 o : : . October 10, 2013

That’s right she didn’t get nominations, she WON. a Grammy for “Love on Top”, which happens to be a bigger commercial success than C-Error’s whole new era.

      • Molly October 10, 2013

I don’t care… she had to exploit a fake pregnancy to get a grammy.

      • . : : h 2 o : : . October 10, 2013

She revealed her pregnancy in August 011, gave birth to Blue Ivy who’s now more famous, powerful, successful and wealthy than two C-Errors combined and that was in early 2012, and won a Grammy in February 2013.

So where’s the “using pregnancy to win a Grammy” part ?

You’re trying and struggling harder than C-Error’s career…

  14. bj October 10, 2013

Ciara though? What about kellys and k.Michelle album, or even tamar Braxton,
    This list is horrible

    • MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

Ciara has more radio airplay and singles sales than they did.

  15. Taylor Payne October 10, 2013

    Congrats CIARA!!!
This Year Is Only Getting Better & Better For Her!
First The #1 Urban Single In The US!
Then The #2 Album In The Country!
Then Gold Certification For “Body Party”!
    Now An AMA Nomination!
I AM SOOOO Happy Ciara Is Finally Being Recognized For Her Hard Work. This Is An Award Ciara TRULY Deserves. The “Ciara” Album & “Body Party” TOTALLY Embodies TRUE R&B! Side Note: It’s Funny How Rihanna Was Mocking Ciara’s Career Earlier This Year, Then “Body Party” Blew Up. Now, There In Same Category At TheAMAs! HA! #Karma

  16. MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

The AMA’s are based on sales and radio airplay from September 2012-August 2013. All of these nominations look right to me.

  17. Molly October 10, 2013

Congratulations Ciara.. you deserve this award… these Tamar and Kelly fans can stay pressed only place they get nominated is soul train awards and bet awards kiiiiii

  18. LOL October 10, 2013

    • Stop the drama Start the music October 10, 2013

Mad at what? She’s not gonna win and it’s just the AMA’s. calm down. Lol

  19. Jason October 10, 2013

WHAT?! That Soul/R&B nom area is GROSS. WHERE IS TAMAR BRAXTON, FANTASIA, CIARA, KELLY ROWLAND along with other incredible R&B singers who put GREAT albums out this year! Tragic!

    • MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

These awards are based on sales not quality of music. All of the artists you mentioned with the exception of Ciara undersold.

      • Savannah October 10, 2013

If that’s the case, Ciara shouldn’t be nominated either! Her album flopped horribly.

      • Molly October 10, 2013

But body party was a massive hit… i cant with you jealous hive b******.

      • Savannah October 10, 2013

Why would I be jealous? Beyonce has hella AMAs, Grammys, Billboard Awards amongst dozens of others. Don’t get cocky because your girl finally got some sort of recognition. She won’t win anyway. 😆

      • Molly October 10, 2013

Ok and let Ciara have her moment stop being f****** haters…

      • Savannah October 10, 2013

        You’re one to talk troll lmao. I can’t .

  20. MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

Justin T is definitely going to sweep the pop and r&b categories. Rihanna will win female r&b and Taylor Swift will sweep the country categories with Jay Z winning all of his rap nominations.

  21. islandboi242 October 10, 2013

These award shows are such trash!! what happen to Kelly, Tamar, Fantasia who release great albums…..

    • Molly October 10, 2013

Who cares for them… next Ciara got nominated that’s all that matters

  22. Savannah October 10, 2013

Smh at the female R&B category. Rihanna should not be nominated. Fantasia should be in her place.

    • Molly October 10, 2013

      Glad Beyonce isn’t nominated.

      • RICHIE_RICH October 10, 2013

Why would Beyonce be nominated thou? Damn King Beyonce’ stay on the girls mind.

      • Savannah October 10, 2013

She’s unbothered sweetie. She will be drinking Ciara’s tears when she loses to Rihanna from one of her 17 Grammys. 🙂

      • Molly October 10, 2013

Ciara could never lose to a goat like Rihanna… But why bey couldnt get a nomination for grown woman bow down or standing on a flop??????? lol Dont come for my queen

      • Savannah October 10, 2013

Ciara’s been losing to Rihanna for 6 years now. None of those songs were singles unlike Ciara’s 15 [literally] flop singles.

      • sl3 October 10, 2013

Because unreleased tracks don’t get nominations?
But yeah it’d be fun seeing SOTS shitting on Body Party at the AMAs…..LIFE

  23. Molly October 10, 2013

    So happy for cici….

  24. Molly October 10, 2013

These Beyonce fans are pressed wonder why lol…

  25. really October 10, 2013

why is it anything ciara get recognized for or accomplish people still wanna tare her down?? some of you just need to face the fact of yall are just haters! let ciara be great stop hating, find another hobby! CONGRATS CIARA!!!!

    • Savannah October 10, 2013

Why is it that you Ciara fans are always hating on more successful artists? I don’t usually indulge in the back and forth, but don’t dish it if you can’t take it.

  26. mekaela October 10, 2013

B**** what karma are u talking about stfu rihanna dont give a damn about he she and dont even come for bey on here either keep these two out your stinky mouth molly for you to call someone a goat cierra looks like a drag queen with p****

  27. KYLE October 10, 2013

Well I don’t see britney’s name so I’m uninterested lol.

  28. really October 10, 2013

i love them all but kelly, tamar, fantasia or k. michelle songs didn do any damage on the radio and none of their songs received a certification. they will only be nominated at award shows like bet or the soultrain awards.

    • Molly October 10, 2013

let em kno… Ciara actually got a gold record this year can’t say the same for other rnb chicks

    • parkerj October 10, 2013

Except Fantasia who is a grammy winner, and all of her albums get at Least 3 grammy nominations

  29. Molly October 10, 2013

First Mtv nomination then Ama nomination next Will be Grammy nomination cant f****** wait yas!!!!!!!!

    • . : : h 2 o : : . October 10, 2013

  30. EveRyder October 10, 2013

A lot of these noms in these catagories r sum b*******. I like justin, but how the hell he get put in rnb/soul and pop/rock catagories? How the f*** rihanna get noms for rnb/soul bcuz that b**** is pop/rnb……..fantasia,kelly,tamar,brandy,k.michelle,chrisette michelle all could’ve had that spot instead of rihanna.

  31. Brenda October 10, 2013

Yeesssss ciara you better werk!!!! Give these haters sum else to talk about #Gociara

    • Natalie October 10, 2013

This isn’t a Beyonce post so i suggest you stop posting things like this thank u

  32. Natalie October 10, 2013

People need to leave Ciara alone…. she’s doing her thing and slaying your basic favs. Its not Ciara fault Tamar Kelly and Beyonce didnt get any nominations its Ciara time to f****** shine. R**** she coming for that wig!!!

    • ROSEGOLD October 10, 2013

LMAO broad please. Ciara will forever be a flop. You C-Squaders kill me!!!!!!!!!

      • Natalie October 10, 2013

Can’t wait for her to snatch that award from riherepes.

      • Dray October 10, 2013

. .it will never happen in this universe

  33. Natalie October 10, 2013

    Ciara > Beyonce

    • ROSEGOLD October 10, 2013

This is why Ciara gets dragged

      • Natalie October 10, 2013

But its the truth im sick of seeing bitter Beyonce fans coming for Queen Ci

      • SLAY_HIVE October 10, 2013

And we’re sick of JEALOUS Z-Squad b****** coming for Queen Beyonce! It’s not our fault your fave is a flop..Blame yourselves 😉

      • RICHIE_RICH October 10, 2013

Lets be forreal. Beyonce >>>>>>Ciara all day. Ciara is good but not a better artist than Beyonce.

Just like you stated you’re sick of seeing bitter Beyonce stans coming for CICI, well I’m sick of seeing irate, and bitter CiCi stan coming for everybodys fav , due to her last 3 albums FLOPPING.

    • beyonce calendar is a hot mess October 10, 2013

no if cici can fraud like beyonce, lie like beyonce, sell s** like beyonce, afford to buy awards/titles like beyonce, fake like her, wear blonde lacefront trying so hard to be white, then she will def be more than beyonce.

  34. RICHIE_RICH October 10, 2013

Why would Beyonce get any nominations to the 2013 ama’s? Lets use logic people. I’m happy for Ciara, but can’t stand some of her Fans/Stans.

    • SLAY_HIVE October 10, 2013

They are all slow and filled with jealousy! Funny to watch kii

    • LeviLovesCiara October 10, 2013

They’re trolls, pay them no mind.

  35. SLAY_HIVE October 10, 2013

Won’t be watching this mess either! All the awards shows have sucked this year

  36. LeviLovesCiara October 10, 2013

Go CiCi! She deserves that award! Shame K. Michelle didn’t get any noms. Her album was one of the best.

    • MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

      K. Michelle’s album was not released in time to qualify and she didn’t have much radio airplay at urban radio for the year.

  37. beyonce calendar is a hot mess October 10, 2013

    am happy for cici.

    • Mwah October 10, 2013

Beyonces calender will outsell Ciaras album lol

      • beyonce calendar is a hot mess October 10, 2013

girl i dont stan for ciara, but i can see that cici is really keeping people like you so pressed.

  38. RoyalKev October 10, 2013

    Yesss Cici! Good Luck!

  39. Rice October 10, 2013

Ciara is the flop of tha mutha f***** century kii

    • FutureCIARA October 10, 2013

      The reach!

  40. KYLE October 10, 2013

Its the same people year after year being nominated for these award shows. Nothing new and no excitement smh .

  41. Ciara my everything October 10, 2013

Congratulations to my heart; the reason I breathe CIARA!!!!! She slaying your f****** faves so deal

    • FutureCIARA October 10, 2013

      Yas Mam,

Thats why these h*** stay mad!

  42. MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

I guess people forget that Ciara has had a #1 single at urban radio from every album she has ever released. I’m not her biggest fan but let’s give credit where it’s due.

    • Demolish my Hole October 10, 2013

What #1 from fantasy ride and basic extinct?

      • MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

Basic Instinct: Ride (Feat. Ludacris) #1 @ urban radio

Fantasy Ride: No #1 there but Never Ever (Feat. Jeezy) went top 10 at urban radio and LoveSexMagic (Feat. Justin T.) went top 10 at pop.

So I guess there was one album without a #1. My bad.

  43. KYLE October 10, 2013

Everyone nominated is average and boring . Where’s britney??

    • H2o October 10, 2013

      What kind of self-read? 😀

  44. Navy Nick October 10, 2013

this is ridiculus!!!!! no Kelly Rowland, no Brandy, REAL R&B albums! How is RIhanna is R&B/SOUL & POP/ROCK!? How is only Miguel the true R&B male? seriously??? love Robin Thicke, but this album was more pop than R&B, come on AMAs!

  45. IM A FREE B*TCH October 10, 2013

the “Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B” category deserves to be won by Alicia. GOF shits on both Unapologetic & Ciara.
however, i see Rihanna winning bcos of the sheer size of her fan base alone. i still think Alicia deserves the award over these 2 tho

    • Ms.Campbell October 10, 2013

People are over Rihanna and her antics….. This win will go to Ciara…..

Rihanna can continue marking up her body for all I care

      • IM A FREE B*TCH October 10, 2013

doesnt change the fact that both Alicia and RiRi’s fan bases are much larger than Ciara’s. even with her antics, RiRi still has a strong following, and im sorry but Ciara doesnt stand a chance against Alicia and Rihanna

  46. MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

They should create a new category- Urban Pop – for artists like Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Rihanna etc whose music isn’t quite r&b but not quite pop either.

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 10, 2013

    • Chic soul October 10, 2013

Beyonce is R&B. her only “pop” album was IASF.

    • Touché October 10, 2013

  47. MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

And before anyone confuses me with a Ciara stan please keep in mind that Brandy is #1 for me. But I have to point out:

Compare Ciara’s career to Aaliyah’s career. I’m talkin the first 3 albums and first 7 years for each. What more did Aaliayh accomplish that Ciara has not. Yet ppl are so quick to call Aaliyah a legend and totally dismiss Ciara. Just some food for thought.

    • Chic soul October 10, 2013

I’m not a Ciara or Aaliyah stan, but Aaliyah carved her own lane. She had three multi platinum albums before her untimely death. Idk how many #1 hits she’s had, but her catalogue is pretty amazing. Ciara was hot for a minute but she started to fade after dropping her second album. The only thing Ciara has over Aaliyah is her dancing ability. She’s much more rugged and intricate with her choreo. Aaliyah was smoother.

      • MUSICHEAD October 10, 2013

But if you think about it, Ciara is carving her own lane too. There is no one out right now you can compare her to.

Also, Aaliyah’s 1st and 3rd albums were not multiplatinum before she died. Her sales dramatically increased the weeks after she died. And Aaliyah had some hits but not many number ones.

Brandy and Monica completely overshadowed Aaliyah in the 90’s but it didn’t take away from Aaliyah’s artistic contribution as she was different from both of them. I think people should respect Ciara in the same way.

      • One in a million October 10, 2013

Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number was certified 3x platinum before she passed. Her self titled 3rd album was released a few weeks prior to her death yet it was selling well. Sales aside, Aaliyah was a quadruple threat. Singer/Dancer/Model/Actress. Sorry but Ciara’s music is forgettable crap compared to Aaliyah’s. Baby girl and Timbalands chemistry was unmatched.

    • Chic soul October 10, 2013

Brandy is my #1 too!! 🙂

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 10, 2013

That’s a really good question. I think it comes down to preference, really. I own all of Aaliyah’s albums. I’ve never bought an album from Ciara. Not that I don’t think she’s super talented, awesome performer, and gorgeous. She’s all of this. For me, it comes down to the music.

She needs to deliver a classic album a la “The Velvet Rope.”
I would argue that Aaliyah has a classic album.

Now the hate that Ciara receives on this site is completely unfair. She’s the go-to whipping girl.

    • ROSEGOLD October 10, 2013

IMO Aaliyah left more of an impact with her music. Even before she passed away, her music both old and new (at the time) was in heavy rotation. I own Ciara’s first album and I haven’t touched it in almost 10 years. I still listen to my old Aaliyah albums. Ciara can dance and she’s a pretty gal but her music has been lacking for quite sometime now.

Taylor Swift is Country since when?

Her latest songs sound as poppy as Carly Rae Jepsen – and I don’t see her being nominated for any Country awards

    Pretty ridiculous

Then again, this same Award show nominated a dance/techno record by Chris Brown and put it in the R&B category, so go figure

These awards are pathetic. Maybe in the 80´s and 90´s when mainstream music was in great shape they could offer some kind of fairness… but now, the nominations themselves are a joke, it´s like some MTV awards or something. We only have the grammys (and yeah they are not like a Bible and they got worse with the years too, but still, the only decent ones).

    • Touché October 10, 2013

I know right, you know it’s a sad era when even the Grammys (which are suppose to be regarded as the highest honor for a music award) is barely respectable anymore. I honestly think we need to wait either 10 or 20 years for change in the music industry because this is just sad.

Miguel is a great artist tho. I hope his status lives up to Usher’s someday.

If ciara is nominated you have something to say if she’s not you STILL have something to say. Whether she wins or not it’s still an accomplishment to be nominated and the haters will continue to talk no matter what. Why are yall so mad??? Lol

  60. Antonio October 13, 2013

Ciara flops, gets the haters, Ciara wins, gets the haters pressed. Whether she wins this award or not, she was still nominated. Why should any awards show nominate Kelly, K or Tamar when Kelly and Tamar did NOT promote their albums properly and K made a basic R&B album. Ciara proved herself an artiist with this album and has the biggest female R&B song/video of the year with Body Party and almost had the biggest female collabo with I’m Out except ppl were still stuck on Body Party when it was released and Blurred Lines, We Cant Stop and Get Lucky were dominating the sales and radio charts during July/August. The Favorite Soul/R&B Female category should’ve been Ciara, Alicia and Keyshia tbh. Keyshia is still promoting her album and is getting paid dust because she spoke the truth about Michelle’s tired, stiff ass. Tamar and K should mostly due their reality shows and Kelly had to drop a song about her relationship with Beyonce to sell TAGG. Ciara and Fantasia were the only female artists who sold off their name and promotional efforts. Stop hating and recognize what it is. Yeah, Ciara sales have started off slow but she and LA are still going to push this album at least til next summer with Overdose, DUI then Read My Lips and her album will sell a lot more. P.S. To the Navy, sell Rihanna to stop selling her album during Black Friday and let’s see how much she’ll without her album being 60% off…
