  3. Ju don’t even know October 7, 2013

Just Shutup…..it’s like no one can live there f****** life anymore without people judging. S*** just reminds me of how much of a biased world we live in. Smdh, and the hypocrisy , Annie’s done some risky things with her style that could of caused a hell of a lot of judgement, but she didn’t care and did her own thing, she did what she wanted without caring what people say and now she bashing others for doing the same?

And btw f*** you miley I’m not sticking up for you because your not trying to being original. Your trying to be mainstream.

  4. Peachciroc October 7, 2013

    lol Ciara is a flop

    • Super Cisus October 7, 2013

Her bank acct shits on yours AND she in the record books. How about yourself b****

      • FAF October 7, 2013

LOL @ the thumbs down .. FAIL TROLL 😆 Rihanna’s getting dragged. DEAL

    • LiveLoveLaugh October 7, 2013

LMFAO! Ciara is a singer, songwriter, dancer, producer, model, actress, etc. She sold records & she has talent, class, and money. Why are you so mad? cause rhianna and miley are s** puppets, gimmicks in the industry, with little to no talent that they have to rely on s** & exploiting themselves just to sell records and stay relevant…smh!

      • Stop the drama Start the music October 7, 2013

        Songwriter?….producer?…

      • XYZ October 8, 2013

actress? where? when? since when is every goddamn singer who played themself in some b-movie an actor/actress?!

and producer? of what? the same song she does since 8 years? gimme that, work and whatever it’s called…

and yeah, she sold records…with her first two albums – afterwards not so much

and to be honest, rihanna is a s*** – we all know that – but she can sing rihanna under the table anytime she wants to…and with relying on s**, the same does ciara

  5. Ms92 October 7, 2013

Rihannas twerking was such a fail in that video LMAO!

Sinead and now Annie? Whose next??? Cindy Lauper? These 80s-90s has beens are mad that the young girls are bigger than they were in their prime?

I’m praying to God that Rihanna claps back with some epic shade! Or at least the Navy.

    • Goppit October 7, 2013

Lol they’re not has beens, they’re legends. Rihanna & Miley don’t compare.

      • FAF October 7, 2013

        ^ Thank u

were there no Cyndi there would be no Madonna and therefore no Lil Kim Nicki Rihanna, etc

      • MuiMui October 7, 2013

        GOPPIT
Wrong everything about Miley & Rihanna has changed since
this H** was in the game.

Madonna did her thing when she was young, and many old cob webs has some shyt talk for her.
The more they talk the more Popular they get and it might not be what they want, but I am sure Miley, Rihanna will be able to handle their haters and the Women and men Preachers that hate their lives.

    • Get A Clue October 7, 2013

How would that happen ? She is an 80’s 90’s 00’s clone with bad music, all the really talented people would just laugh at her.

And who is the Rihanna Navy ? Pubescent chavs ?

Oooh, what a scary thought !

    • SLAY ME GODNIKA (ASBEENISH) October 7, 2013

Um tell me when Miley sells 80M records lol

    • Iceberg October 7, 2013

I doubt you were even born when these women were in ” their prime,” so how would you even know. People are still singing their tunes and mimicking their artistry now. I bet you all the money in the world NO ONE will be singing Rihanna or Miley in twenty to thirty years time! She is 100% correct. They are whoring themselves out while they have their youth. It means nothing in the long run, because they are saying nothing. There is no real message in their music. There are plenty of under 25’s living it up just as much as these two f****** idiots. They aren’t doing anything new, except for looking like dumb asses selling themselves out.
I hope these wannabe artists hang on to their money now, because their music won’t be lasting. While I’m at it neither will Beyonce’s, Katy Perry’s or Lady Gaga’s. Maybe on Planet Mind Numbing Fuckery somewhere in an unknown galaxy somewhere, perhaps.

    • Anne October 7, 2013

Okay trust me, I’m old enough to know. Cyndi is not Madonna’s predecessor. They came out at about the same time. Madonna’s debut album “Madonna” came out in 1983 but she had two huge singles in 1982 before the album was released with “Everybody” and “Burning Up.” Cyndi’s first solo album was released in 1983, “She’s So Unusual.” So to say Madonna wouldn’t be Madonna without Cyndi is inaccurate.

      • Anne October 7, 2013

My comment above is @ FAF

  7. Drag queen October 7, 2013

Rihanna and Miley have stinky asses

  8. Damo October 7, 2013

OK guys these women that your quick to tell shut up are, experienced professionals in the game who have lived this business, whether you agree with them they now what goes on behind the scenes and they are not wrong!

I’m a guy so the s** doesn’t bother me so much, within art there is plenty of Rebellion, sexuality it’s all a major part of it.

As much as i love Rihanaa and think Miley makes great music. They are rebels with out no cause, nehind flaunting there sexuality is nothing so it really is just taking your clothes off for the purpose of making money

Rihanna is a strong women so we except it as part of her strength but there is no meaning.

Even in Madonna’s most highly sexual period which was Erotica there was so much going on Artisticly.

A*** was ob the uprise and people were blaming all sorts of sexual misfits Madonna wanted to bring all of these people that we don’t understand into the public domain so that we are not ignorant and understand cos we fear and we blame what we do not know about.

There is always some artistic clear message behind the work and plenty of videos the work, these girls glorify drugs in interviews to sound cool and sell records, there is no purpose here, do i like there music and them, yes but are the prostiting themsleves for money yes!

Let your sexuality have a purpose even with Xtina’s stripped era, the message was sooo strong and visual it wasn’t just about taking your clothes off, these girls need to use there status and there art so its remembered and changes lives

These are the same people who were talking about s** drugs and rock and roll in their time

Now they talking s***.how many artists from their era OD on drugs. Dancing in skimpy outfit is part of Rihanna’s culture. She would be wearing the same skimpy clothes if she was not in the music business. That’s how people dress during carnival.
They wouldn’t go to Brazil and ring carnival and tell people to put on clothes
Miley in the other hand is doing it for shock value.

    • FAF October 7, 2013

Dancing in skimpy clothes is not part of west indian culture DEAD @ y’all letting her fill your minds up w/ that s***

many parents do not let their children attend carnivals its the same thing as West Indian day parade in NYC sometimes they turn very violent & theres drugs & alcohol there – its all in the parenting

Rihanna is a billygoat who was raised in an abusive home CLEARLY her parents did not protect her from the ills of the world thats why she’s the way she is, sis

What these artist are saying is where is the talent.. As superstars you should be able to tell the difference between a stripper and the star. In rihanna video who is the superstar who is the stripper.. Where’s the talent. even when Madonna did shocking videos she still was the start with the talent. She didn’t blend in. These girls are setting women in music back.. Yeah great video open my legs and sing um no.. where is the hard work. Look at Britney new video she is s*** but she’s not doing what the other girls are. Get real.. Then you have the fans of there saying let then live there life. But what is there career? We know katy p, Beyonce, lady Gaga, adele are singers ciara Janet j and Madonna Britney Spears are more performers .. what is miley and rihanna? If you have to tell ppl then they are not doing a good job at it. They get paid for this remember this ain’t for free

You are absolutely correct. Which means that certain (I don’t know what to call them b/c ‘artists’ is not the right word) uh, performers should be ignored regardless of how much they are shoved down our throats.

Mainstream pop music is abysmal and it doesn’t have to be.

  16. christinastherealtalent October 7, 2013

Truth hurts! And I am glad that the likes of Sinead and Annie are speaking it! Has beens are those who, Amerieetc… tried it and failed. Annie and Sinead’s talent, record sales, sold out shows, and amazing music catalogue speak volumes and speak for themselves. They are living proof that you can sell without selling s** but they are pointing out that the likes of Rihanna and Miley rely on s** to sell. They’ve sold their souls to the devil. If you took tht away, they’d be nothing and struggling like Fefe Dobson, Christina Milian

  18. Dray October 7, 2013

The reach, Sam, is ridiculous. Rihanna never marketed to a young audience so for you to infer that it’s directed at Rihanna is chhhh. . . .we all know she’s talking about Miley.

In that case, you must add your beloved Beyonce in the mix because that’s how she marketed herself as well–s**. Now say I’m lying.. . . .

I know you have to pay your rent but the reach is sad at this point.

    • XXX October 7, 2013

Just leave Beyonce out of it. She doesnt promote a notorious trashy, slutty image like Rihanna. Yes she been s*** because shes sensual performer. But theres a reason she does not get called out like Rihanna. And Rihanna knows damn well who her main market is regardless.

    • XXX October 7, 2013

Oh, and death at you blaming Sam like he tweeted it.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

No, I’m not blaming Same for what Annie said; I am blaming Sam who wrote the spin on the story and it wasn’t a tweet, there was acomplete interview but I excuse your comprehension level on GP alone. . .I think you know why. . . . Annie didn’t actually name names but inferred that is why I said it could be anyone she is directing that too but Miley most certainly banked off of a young audience starting with Hannah Montana. . .idiot.

      • XXX October 7, 2013

She mentioned recent spate of videos, key word being RECENT. Who else has an over sexualised recent video released thats caught everyones attention and caused controversy?

      • Dray October 7, 2013

. . here I go going back and forth with you which is probably a waste but she’s more than likely referring to Wrecking Ball which Miley licking hammers and swinging naked has clearly nothing to do with the song. As for Rihanna, what else type of video would you shoot for a “stripper anthem” besides. . .ding ding. . .stripping? Any parent that let’s their kid listen to Rihanna’s PIU when clearly she’s targeting an adult audience, then that’s a problem. . . performance for a wide audience, clearly it was the Blurred Lines fiasco so try again with your reach as well

      • XXX October 7, 2013

SPATE is a plural term. I live for the excuses though.

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 7, 2013

Nope, sorry. Annie actually named Beyoncé as one of her favorite singers but nice try though.

When are people going to learn that you cannot put Bey and Miley in the same sentence. It simply doesn’t work.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

. .Oh I won’t put Beyonce and Miley on the same level as much as I dislike Beyonce. Beyonce is miles apart from that “Try-Hard”. In the same token, Rihanna is not even close to being in the same lanes a “Hannah”. She’s light years ahead of this trvesty as well so I wish people would stop the comparisons as well.

  21. Arie October 7, 2013

Once again people are focussed on who is delivering the message instead of paying attention to what is being said. These younger artists are doing too much too soon, to be honest Im just waiting for one of them to give birth on a music video. i dont know why these older artists bother, this message just like all the others will fall on def ears.

  24. MsThing485 October 7, 2013

Annie, who was simply telling the truth, has the clout to be able to commentate on the silly antics of these frivolous pop tarts of today. And as ‘out there’ as some of Annie’s antics were in her day, unlike Miley and Rihanna, NOBODY ever questioned her talent. She had the skills to back up hers up, and wasn’t using her shock value to mask her lack of ability. Neither Rihanna or Miley can say the same.

  25. Micks October 7, 2013

Annie told nothing but the truth. They rely on controversy to gloss over what they lack.

  27. Blue Ivy Carter-Rodriguez October 7, 2013

How is Miley and Rihanna setting back women if women in all aspects of life use their sexuality to get what they want? Feminism is also about pro choice right? For individuals that are for women’s rights they are so narrow minded and judgemental, yes not every girl should be able to get naked to sell but if a girl chooses to get real comfortable within her own skin and shares that with others then there should be no judgement. Our societal views are not always what’s best for the world.. Remember Slavery? Homophobia? Sexism? Get off your high horse realize that the world will always be screwed up because we were taught to judge and not love others for who they are.. Embrace that every person is different, embrace that change and you might see things differently.

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 7, 2013

I don’t think the exploration of sexuality is the problem. Annie, herself, has pushed her own share of boundaries in her own work. However, the difference between Annie and Miley is Annie was not trying to commodify her sexuality. In other words, it was never been “s** for s**’s sake” with her. There was a purpose. It was never gratuitous.

Miley can swing completely naked on a wrecking ball, pose for the latest round of pictures for Terry Richardson, etc…but let’s not call that “art.” Let’s call it what it is and Annie has done so.

Put it like this, if Miley was able to pull off what Madonna did in her “Justify My Love” video, for example, there wouldn’t be a problem. With Miley, it just looks so forced and contrived and most importantly, it’s not saying anything.

      • Blue Ivy Carter-Rodriguez October 7, 2013

I understand your point and to be honest, I am not defending Miley at all because I didn’t understand the message she was conveying through that Wrecking Ball video either. However, as I grow older (21) I start opening my mind more and understand what it means to be human. My point wasn’t just based on sexuality but our identity, gender roles and societal views on women who are in this case ‘over sexualized’. As feminist oriented, I believe a woman has a right to express herself in a light she sees fit because women also have choices on how they want to be viewed and how they want to live. Being a woman is more than just being able to have the same rights, equal treatment and pay. I just don’t want some members of TGJ making out all women as Christian role models when chances are they’re not.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

        I agree

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 7, 2013

I totally agree with you. Whether we’re talking about sexuality, gender presentation, societal roles, etc…women should have the right to present themselves as they see fit.

In the world of art, however, there is an invitation for the viewer to take notice, critique, and engage with the artist. On the one hand you have Miley’s fans who are loving her work. On the other hand, you have critiques like Annie’s. For me, I find this healthy.

I don’t think Annie is trying to police Miley’s or Rihanna’s behavior. I think she’s asking us to consider whether or not there is TRUE power in presenting ourselves in an oversexualized manner? Just because I directed my own video or i ASKED Terry Richardson to shoot me this way, is that really power? I think it’s a great question.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

Good question and would make for a great discussion.

      • Blue Ivy Carter-Rodriguez October 7, 2013

Yes. you make a valid point. Now if only other Navy members, hell, all stan groups can have discussions like this… Smh

    • Tisha October 7, 2013

“Feminism is also about pro choice right?”

This is the generic idea of feminism, the kind a lot of teenagers (no shade) have today because they have a very basic idea of what feminism is grounded in. Feminism is about choice but TRUE choice. These girls have male managers, male producers, male directors and PR agents. It’s silly to think the people physically signing their checks and controlling their careers don’t have influence.

We’ve seen plenty of artists quit their contracts and leave their agency because they wanted them to change their sound, be more generic, appeal more to a mass audience. Rihanna slapping around twerking on water while a man nods in approval isn’t feminism.

WHY are the people behind these girls encouraging them towards more and more sexual images ignoring their talent and ability? Basic songs, no choreography, limited singing range, no direction. I mean come on…

      • Dray October 8, 2013

The thing is. . men were the ones behind Rihanna when they were trying to make her a Beyonce clone when she first came out. . .when she took control, she became the RIhanna we know. I don’t think her image is controlled by a man, at all. . . . .now, Miley. . .when we see her some years down the road and she’s still this way and not on breakdown alley. . . .

So the Rihanna you see is the real Rihanna. . .the one when she first hit the scene was contrrolled by men’s strings. I’m glad she found herself and her voice at such a young age. She’s astrong individual diespite what people try to say about her because she has accomplished allthis at a young age and dealt with a lot of things many young people never will experience. I’m proud of Rih.

Secondly can people leave Miley and Rihanna alone, they are not the first nor will they be the last to take their clothes off.

Beyonce, Janet, Madonna started and continued the wave of taking your clothes off, hell even Mariah did it at one point. Stop the double standards and let the girls live.

  31. Lovebird (Prism – 10.22.13) October 7, 2013

. .I’m justr curious as to “who” you deem s*** and confident. . .I’ll wait

      • I Stan For Myself October 7, 2013

Majority of the people irrelevantly dragged into the above comment.

  33. Lovebird (Prism – 10.22.13) October 7, 2013

Nope, no difference. TAKING YOUR CLOTHES OFF IS TAKING YOUR CLOTHES OFF.

    No sugar coating.

  34. HOWYOULIKEIT October 7, 2013

Rihanna gave birth to Miley. Did y’all really think Miley would be an angel? Chiiile!

  35. I Stan For Myself October 7, 2013

There is easily a difference. The proof is in the pudding and Rihanna and Miley are the ones always being complained about. Why? Trying to shift the bad press onto legends and other artists is not going to take Rihanna and Mileys issue away

    • Dray October 7, 2013

      . . but she didn’t name names so . . . .

      • I Stan For Myself October 7, 2013

Before you stalk my comment know who Im addressing first.

    • Dray October 7, 2013

I read your comment and you stated Miley and Rihanna. . . .and I assumed you said their name referencing the article. . right? And I stated that Annie didn’t mention any names so why did you distinctly call out those two. . . . I think you see the logic here? I hope. . . .

      • I Stan For Myself October 7, 2013

No im addresing Lovebird. Now Bye!

      • Dray October 7, 2013

. . do you know what the @ means. . .and I was addressing what YOU wrote like people do on a messageboard. . . . . . toodles

      • I Stan For Myself October 7, 2013

So the f*** what! A and B conversation… You know the rest. Go tell Lovebitch who did exactly the same.

  36. Super Cisus October 7, 2013

    Miley has talent

  37. How October 7, 2013

N**** please, their are more crotch shot of beyonce on stage than any other artist. For Rihanna it’s a cultural thing for Beyonce and Miley it’s a business and promotion thing.

    • Ms92 October 7, 2013

So much delusion. So much b*******.

    • Dray October 7, 2013

Truth. . .I guess they conveniently forgot the crotch shots at the Superbowl in the dominatrix outfit . . .chhhhh. . .sigh

    • Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

Being from the Carribean myself, this comment is total B*******.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

. .so they don’t have sensual and sexualized dancing as well as dress provacatively during the festivals, etc. in the islands? I’m not saying everyone but it is a big part of that culture. . .denial is a bad thing.

      • Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

Yes buts that NOT the reason Rihanna does it. Considering she was more clean cut in her days of making reggae/pop albums and marketed as an Island girl in comparisn to now! Total b*******. Her music is not dancehall, its pop and the way she promotes it in her photoshoots, choreography etc is not because shes from the Carribean. If thats the case why arent all Carribean singers like her? They’re not.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

First of all, you’re not a RIhanna fan because you would know why the change which I am not about to go into. . . .second, she doesn’t have to ONLY do dancehall music to display parts of her culture in the work she does. . . . .what sense does that make?

      • Dray October 7, 2013

. .not all Carribean singers are the same. . .what sense would that make to even think that?

      • Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

Im addressing the persons original comment, blaming her over sexualized image is because shes from the Caribbean. Thats not the reason. She markets an over sexualized image along with her bad b**** persona. Why she changed is besides the point no Im not a fan so I dont care. Some of her moves yes, are part of Caribbean culture but thats not WHY Rihanna is over sexualized. I used her old music as an example because if it was because of her culture, she would have been that way from Day 1. When she was practically the opposite. Im Carribbean, if I suddenly became a pop star (never lol) I would not portray myself the way Rihanna does. She can do whatever she wants, but her patting her p****, doing photoshoots of herself taking pictures between her legs and making songs about strippers is not because shes Caribbean.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

No. .Rihanna was not and nor could even have been in control of her image day 1 in the industry. . .she did not have enough power. You don’t come into the industry telling them how you are going to be until you 1) gain power 2) don’t care and come in with a short shelf life. . . .hence why a lot of artist choose to go the indie route–to have more control. Rihanna was and did what they told her until she had gained enough–ENOUGH–power or influence to change and be who she is today. Plus, Rihanna has been in the industry quite a long time–she’s evolved. Who stays stagnant. No one is the same person they were nine or ten years ago. . .at least I hope not.

      • Yeah I said It October 7, 2013

And the fact remains Rihannas sexual behavior is not because of culture.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

        . . uh huh. . ok. . . .chhhh

      • Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

Glad we agree on that one!

  38. mahalo October 7, 2013

old farts thinking on old lanes. but looks things have changed. yeah good and bad ways. if they don’t like it they should stay off the mainstream. *shrugs*

    • CzarM October 7, 2013

      Be quiet.

  39. Rellz October 7, 2013

They’re both a mess and do it all for attention, these legends are right but they are giving them exactly what they want.

  40. Lovebird (Prism – 10.22.13) October 7, 2013

Oh and whilst your exposing your double standards on Miley, don’t forget to buy Daniel De Bourg’s album London Bread.

  41. pat October 7, 2013

wasn’t she in the same error as Madonna and grace jones…..this shyt aint nothing new.

    • pat October 7, 2013

      *era

    • Common Sense October 7, 2013

Difference is those women had undeniable talent unlike Miley’s nasal ass.

      • pat October 7, 2013

        that’s debatable…ijs

    • Dray October 7, 2013

      Kiiiiiii. . . .

  42. Lovebird (Prism – 10.22.13) October 7, 2013

It’s like people are mad s*** only works for certain artists.

Madonna, Xtina (stripped era), P!nk, Kelly Rowland (see motivation), Beyonce (so many stage crotch shots), T***** Caca (running around naked in the forest) just to name a few and you want to complain about Miley, f****** bye.

    • Dray October 7, 2013

. .I agree Lovebird, the only problem I have with Miley is it feels forced as if it is all for show and publicity. I read her interview when she posed semi n*** at 15 and said she felt the photographer forced her to do that and that wasn’t her. . . .JMO, I feel like she is doing things which are not really true to who she is because she has people pushing her in this direction despite what she says. Now, she may prove me wrong and I hope she hits that “Rihanna” stage where she just forgets what the “team” wants and becomes true to herslef before she crashes and burns. . . . .but shrugs. That’s the same reason I don’t like Gaga. ..I feel she contrived her whole image for publicity or a gimmick. Gaga has talent and could go further is people actually felt she was such a minstrel show. Same with Miley because I like her singing. . .I like WB but gowrl. . . . .stop with the buffonery.

I have nothing against nudity, etc. . . .but it has to be YOU.

  43. B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 7, 2013

What is going on with all of this deflection? Bringing up Legends Janet, Madonna, Mariah, Beyonce, and Grace (a true genius) to justify the actions of Miley? No. There is a stark difference between them and Miley, sorry.

And you wonder why NOBODY had anything to say about Gaga’s work with Marina Abramović. Think about it.

  44. Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

You can disagree with what shes saying but the kids ignorance on here is just too much. Before saying ‘I dont know her’ or ‘shut up’ like a bunch of 12 year olds, do your research to avoid looking ignorant and uneducated and take into these are legends who know the industry, been it for years and have probably experienced the dark side of it aswell.

    • Dray October 7, 2013

. .so true and back during their time, Annie knows the crop all had their distinct images–Annie–androgynous which was controversial all on it’s own; Madonna raw s**; Cyndi–valley girl; etc. . . I do somewhat agree with some of what she said because I really think she’s referring to just Miley but s** has always sold in the music industry. Always have and always will.

      • Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

Its so terrible reading the comments. Ignorant little kids. But why would she not be talking about Rihanna? Shes referring to more than just one video. And unfortunatley, PIU fits the critera shes talking about. And it made headlines in UK (where she is from).

      • Dray October 7, 2013

PIU was directed, marketed and made for an adult audience. What type of video would you have suggested she do for that specific song. . . I wedding dress and banquet table on the lawn? That’s like watching a rated R movie and complaining it had nudity and cursing in it. Wrecking ball was not catered to just an adult audience and there lies the diffrence. . . . .

      • Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

But this isnt about me. The video fits perfectly for the trashy song. Its about strippers so thats what shes giving. Annie is talking about Rihanna aswell doll, it wasnt marketed to any specific audience because Rihanna and her team know that she has young fans who will still watch it. Majority of her hardcore fans are under a certain age. Many being teens. You know it, I know it, Annie knows it, Rihanna knows it. But Rihanna and her team choose to ignore it, which is their perogative. But thats where the debate stands.

      • Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

        Where*

      • Dray October 7, 2013

Any parent who let’s their child listen to some of Rihanna’s music without discretion shouldn’t be parents. She does not market to a young crowd. She stated that numerous times. . .and how do you know who the majority of Rihann’s fanbase is comprised of? Hannah Montana–was specifically designed for children. My niece watched her religiously and she grabbed from that fanbase to market what she’s selling now; she started promoting songs and marketing them on that show so she DID and does have a young fanbase. Same with Selena. .their Disney days have them where they are now. Rihanna was never Disney.

      • Yeah I said It October 7, 2013

Parent cant troll everything inpressionable teenagers are doing. We wouldnt have many online trolls if they could Rihannas audiencd is still young. Its not rocket science where im coming from. Im not the one holding Rihanna responsible. But it is how it is and thats what Annie is addressing. The RECENT spat (meaning more than one).

      • Yeah I said It October 7, 2013

        control*

      • Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

        Excuse the typos

      • Dray October 7, 2013

. . see that’s the problm with some parents today. . letting celebrities raise the kids instead of them doing it themselves. . . . .any parent who let’s their child “troll” the internet without having parameters in place . . .I don’t know what to tell you–it’s nothing good. . . . . .Rihanna’s job is not to raise your kids by portraying a Disney Princess image for mass consumption just to appease the people who kids have no guidance or direction. . . .she is who she is and does what she does and does it very well. No she is not marketed towards a young audience. . . .no more so than that soft pron book, “Shades of Grey”.

      • Yeah I Said It October 7, 2013

I agree with you to some extent. You’re going off topic though all I was asking is why wouldn’t it be about Rihanna. Rihanna is marketed to a general audience no specific age. And that audience includes a lot of young people, which is Annie’s point. They dont really have a choice. I don’t believe Rihanna is responsible like that. Its not my debate. I was just pissed off by the lack of respect for a legend.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

The thing is. . first, Annie didn’t state names when she said this so we are assuming. . .Sam is definitely assuming she was addressing Rihanna because she hates herrr. . but, based on what was said, I and other messageboards took it to mean Miley. . . .Sam threw Rihanna’s name in the mix and people ran with it. . . .but I disagree. . .Rihanna does not market to a young audience. Personally, she sounds good and her music is very popular BUT that doesn’t mean it’s for every age group. I guess I’m trying to figure out why you say she’s marketed to the general public?

      • Lou October 7, 2013

I see you’re having the same argument. But its ok to assume its about Miley? Oh ok. Double standards.

  45. Twerk 4 Miley October 7, 2013

No who the hell is this w****??? Sick of all these hasbeens tryna get shine off of Miley.

    • Common Sense October 7, 2013

Don’t worry Miley will be joining true hasbeens (see Jonas Bros) soon enough. Meanwhile legends (like Annie) will continue to inspire careers.

  46. Twerk 4 Miley October 7, 2013

People act like girls are now just acting slutty… No one called Gaga out for being naked in those magazines or called Beyonce out for always popping her p****

    • Dray October 7, 2013

. .the double standard is sad. . . .I remember the Beyonce Baby Boy video with her rolling around in the mud and gyrating yet the same people called it amazing art. . .the hypocrisy

      • Lou October 7, 2013

LOLOLOL! Thats nothing in comparison to PIU hence why theres no explicit versions of any of Beyonces songs. The Navy and their reaches.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

The Hive and their pressedness. . . . .but with that said I have no problem with either video. . .both were fine with me–PIU and BB. ..

What gets me is no one had a problem when Prince was walking around with exposed ass in chaps but let women flaunt their sexuality, it’s a crime. Chhhh. . .the hyprocrisy again.

  47. Twerk 4 Miley October 7, 2013

Why she didn’t have problem when Madonna showed off her boob?

    • Common Sense October 7, 2013

Probably because it wasn’t in a music video? It was in a concert where I’m sure people would be forewarned of adult content when buying tickets.

  48. Lou October 7, 2013

Why cant Rihanna and Miley fans just except the backlash your favs were after and stop crying about why they dont come for Beyonce, Janet, Britney etc. The f****** thirst.

    • Dray October 7, 2013

Reading is the key. .Annie didn’t come for Rihanna. . .Sam did

      • Lou October 7, 2013

Shes coming for Rihanna and Miley she doesnt need to mention names. Deal.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

I feel like she was coming for “others” as well since it was a blanket statement.. . . deal

      • Lou October 7, 2013

Others like who? Who else is recent?

      • Dray October 7, 2013

        . .smiles. . should I even go there. . . . .I’m bored this morning. . .I might. . . .kiii

      • Lou October 7, 2013

        Yes please do.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

. . in recent. . .she could be referring to any of the other pop gowrls besides the two Sam wanted to shade such as –Gaga, Beyonce, Nicki, Ciara, Britney; etc. . . . .and I could go on but you get the picture. . . I know you do. . . smiles
but saying Rihannas name pays the bill so I can see the method behind the madness. . . . .kiiii

now, one may be questrionable because really. .what has the one in question done recently? Oh yeah, a calendar and snippet.

      • Lou October 7, 2013

Britney -Possibly (although hers is just a typical music video).
Gaga- Possibly but the video wasn’t really selling s**, just weird.
Beyoncé- Erm. What video has she released of recent? Is this coming from the same fan base on tiptoes about when she will finally release?

And if you believe she could be talking about these girls, why cant she be talking about Rihanna? Rihanna is more likely. Accept it. Her and Miley are the only ones making headlines for this s***. And since shes talking about more than one, its clearly about her.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

. . now. . if Britney’s video which protrays the BDS&M lifestyle with chicks on chains wearing bondage gear while having that a** whipped with a flogger isn’t sexual then. . .lawd

Gaga walking through a forest, bukked nakkid yodeling at the frogs in the pond and the birds in the trees, if that wasn’t. . . . .ratchet. . .chhh

True Beyonce is not recent but let’s pulll crotch shots from the Superbowl performance. . . . .

      • Lou October 7, 2013

This is about who Annie is addressing and you stay deflecting from the fact Rihanna is 99.9% one of those people along with Miley. More so than the others.
        The most recent? Check.
        The most Sexual? Check.
        An actual video? Motherfucking check!
And part of the SPATE (key word). Check.
One of the most controversial? Check.
        Whats to question?
Btw Annie loves Beyonce so shes not talking about her, especially since she has no recent s***.

      • Dray October 7, 2013

You are so not comprehending. .what makes you so sure she’s addressing Rihanna. .. . you pointed out WHY you THOUGHT she was referring to Rihanna. . .I showed you where you was wrong and you still saying the same thing. . . .were you in Annie’s mind when she said this because I swear, I see no names. .that’s the only way you 100% know who she was referring to. . . . .maybe Sam told you. . .chhhh

      • Dray October 7, 2013

Are you buying that calendar? Kiiiiii. . .it’s art

      • Lou October 7, 2013

The same reason you’re sure shes addressing Miley!
Yes I will be buying, a fine example of how not to look like w**** but still be hot!

  49. Blue Ivy Carter-Rodriguez October 7, 2013

Sam you shade so much but your TGJ layout looks and acts like it has a Kelly Rowland budget. Why do you have so many problems with your site? If you need help with web designs then please call @Rosie as she stated previously that her Tumblr page looks much better and operates more smoothly as well.

    • Iconic cici October 7, 2013

      Lmao Kelly Rowland budget

  50. christinastherealtalent October 7, 2013

If you’ve never heard of Sinead or Annie before today, then you have no room criticizing artists who do not fit the social norm of what’s popular right now.

First Celine, then Elton, Sinead and now Annie. They’re only spilling the truth baby.

    • mahalo October 7, 2013

it’s legit not to know them. 23 years, 30 years, elton? when they released their known things. that’s quite some time of life to be grown out of this time as a t*** of these days. 😉

      • Avenger October 7, 2013

        Um, what?

  51. Iconic cici October 7, 2013

Weak shade try again d***… Not my fault majority of us dont know who this hasbeen is.

      • Tisha October 7, 2013

D***??? LMAO so you’re a hypocrite like your fav too?

I thought Mother T***** said love the gays? I know you’re mad the majority forgot who Gaga is 3 years after she came out.

  53. Tisha October 7, 2013

Take note that the folks condemning the style these girls perpetuate are individuals who were stars when there was nothing to make you successful but the actual ability to SING. To know your instruments, to have artistic direction, to be something special.

If one wasn’t paler than the other what would distinguish Miley from Rihanna?

    • Dray October 7, 2013

Quite a lot. .tha’ts like saying what is the difference between Miley and Madonna. . . actually to make it easier, the only thing that Miley and Rihanna have in common is that they are both controversial and that where the similarities stop.

  54. LiveLoveLaugh October 7, 2013

I agree with Annie….Its sad how we as females came along way wanting to be treated with respect, and not degraded. And when we have females like rhianna and miley over sexualizing themselves, and their delusional stans calling it classy its beyond shameful. There is nothing classy and s*** about miley and rhianna. They both are trashy, they have no class, or self-respect.STFU about entertainment, there is nothing entertaining about females like rhianna and miley who degrade themselves…A real female artist can show skin and be classy/s*** while doing it, so stans need to learn the difference between class and trash.

    • Dray October 7, 2013

Presssed much? In other news, Beyonce just released a calendar for you guys to run and buy. . . . .

      nope, no single yet

    • Rellz October 7, 2013

      Exactly.

  55. barb 4 lyfe October 7, 2013

    WHO????

  56. barb 4 lyfe October 7, 2013

Theres more important things in world to worry about other than Rihanna and Miley being whores.

  57. JER October 7, 2013

I love Eurythmics but Annie STFU. All these b****** from 30 years ago getting ff someone’s name. Let’s just go down the line and ask every female artist ever what they think about Miley and Rihanna. Pebbles, yer first. Then Jody Watley, then Sheena Easton. SMH

    • UMo October 7, 2013

Be quiet. It’s not as if Annie and Sinead are the only ones who’ve critiqued the desperate and ridiculous b******* that Miley and Rihanna are contaminating the world of music with as of late. They’re basically repeating what’s been said for months, if not years, regarding those two talentless, attention-seeking trollops.

And when you’re as accomplished and respected as Annie, you can call out idiot flavor of the moment pop stars who won’t be around in another few years, because chances are she’s seen cartoons like them come and go before. She know what she’s talking about.

  58. JOHNVIDAL October 7, 2013

Well she´s obviously right and also said back in 2010 when Mariah Carey released her second Xmas album that Mariah´s voice is like the most exceptional thing she´s ever heard. So I love this woman.
Let me replay “Sweet Dreams” and enjoy true talent-music.
So is it for real that some kids in here don´t know who this woman or Sinead are????? Really??? Do you enjoy making a fool of yourselves in public or what? Do you think anybody with a brain will take your opinions seriously in the future? When you stan for the biggest disgrace in music? Problem is not nudity or controversy. Problem is talentless puppets.

    • Blue Ivy Carter-Rodriguez October 7, 2013

I think it’s about time TGJ bans you. You’re like 90 years old and you keep arguing with children. Your comments are just hate masked with undertones of ‘kindergarten shade’. Enough is enough out of you already; biased and pressed, I dislike people that can’t just find the positive out of everyone’s artistry. SMH… Move along Benjamin Button.

      • JOHNVIDAL October 7, 2013

LOL and that´s reason enough to ban a person? Supporting huge talents no matter their age? Ok.

  59. POP ROYALTY October 7, 2013

I’m a Huge Navy, But the PIU music video is a “NO”, I already never was a huge fan of the song in the First Place.

To make a long story short,I agree With Her to some extent.

    • ~The Arcade~ October 7, 2013

At least you’re not so delusional, compared to others on this site and can admit it!

  60. BEYHIVE_MINAJ October 7, 2013

I didn’t know who she was either, but I actually looked her up and her music is pretty good. And she wasn’t lying either

  61. kingBeyBitch October 7, 2013

I love Miley but she’s 1000% right no lies detected. Its not rocket science that she was referring to both miley and rihanna

  62. me October 7, 2013

In the era of Annie Lennox there were 1.Madonna doing Like a Virgin etc 2. Sheena Easton doing My Sugar Walls etc 3. Vanity Six doing Nasty Girls 4. and so on …so being sexual as a talent is nothing new
