The X Factor 2013: Eliminations (Week 1)

The X Factor 2013 saw its 1st set of eliminations tonight. Find out who’s heading home this week…

{An international phenomenon, local versions of the show show now air in the US, Italy, France and beyond. The brain-child of Simon Cowell, The X Factor is responsible for birthing the careers of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, One Direction, Cher Lloyd and JLS.

Judging the hopefuls are Nicole Scherzinger, Gary Barlow, Sharon Osbourne and original panelist Louis Walsh.

Having fallen victim to polling lowest in last night’s “Flash Vote”, Shelly Smith entered this evening’s show knowing she’d be battling for her spot in the sing-off.

After registering the next lowest total vote of the contestants, Lorna Simpson was revealed as the act tasked with fighting for her place.

However, her rendition of ‘There You Will Be’ wasn’t as well-received by the judges as Smith’s take on ‘One Night Only’ and she was sent home – becoming the first act to be given the axed.

The X Factor continues on ITV1 next Saturday.
