Now, almost three years after teasing fans with her forthcoming album ‘Braveheart‘, the singer/actress has announced the launch of a new Christmas EP….just weeks before the big day itself.

While the star is yet to confirm a date for its release, the EP is likely to arrive after the December 7th airing of her new ‘Lifetime’ movie ‘Christmas in the City‘, in which she plays a store consultant named Teanna.
We can’t wait to hear it!
However, we’re sure we’re not the only ones worried about the current state of Ashanti’s career.
For, while many an R&B royal has kept their brand alive by high visibility even in the face of low album sales, the ‘Only U‘ singer’s absence from the scene has done quite the number on her core fan base, forced to watch her former rival Beyonce rise to icon status while a new batch of R&B lasses eat into her share of the market!
With this in mind, here’s hoping Camp Douglas thinks long and hard when selecting the material that’ll make ‘Brave’s final cut, even if that does mean scrapping what’s already there and calling on the likes of Eric Bellinger, Elijah Blake, Dev Hynes, TC, Harmony Samuels and Jerry Wonda to hand her the radio ready R&B jams her career has been calling for!

You forgot to mention that she sold more than all of the aforementioned (excluding Beyonce) combined from the first week of April 2002 to May 2002 alone. She’ll be fine because no matter what state she’s in at the moment one thing you can’t take away from her is her success and history. She has had ONE album of four that is not platinum certified. ONE. Two #1 albums and has been moderately successful in film. Give credit where do. She’s done it before, when the time is right she’ll stand again. It may not be her prime but as an artist she’s at her best now.. best we’ve seen her anyway.
