In an era where artists are making fast food music just to jump from point “A” to “B”, there’s increasing premium attached to songs and albums with long-lasting impact.
Just ask Beyonce.
For, the ‘Single Ladies’ siren is enjoying renewed success with ‘B’Day’ anthem – ‘Get Me Bodied’.
It’s been seven years since the Swizz Beatz cut had the clubs snapping for the kidz and Naomi Campbell Walking. However, the track has staged a remarkable rebound on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 – acheiving a new peak on the tally in the process.
All a bit random, right? Well, find out why after the jump…
Last week saw a viral video of a Dr named “Deb” dancing to the track (along with surgeons) as she prepared to undergo a double-mastectomy. Haven’t seen it yet? Check it out below…
Currently sitting at 7 million views in less than seven days, the clip clearly renewed interest in ”Bodied’ – as digital sales and streaming have seen the dance-floor jam jump to #46 on this week’s Hot 100. The placing represents a new peak for the track, which had previously climaxed at #68 in 2007. (Note: Much like ‘Upgrade U’, the track has never received a “formal” release and was instead an integral component of Beyonce’s ‘B’Day’ re-release – which included a video anthology)

As one of our favourite King B cuts, it’s great to see the the song back in the spotlight – and because of such an inspiring cause. Good stuff.
