However, the 43-year-old was in incredible form this week during a “festive” moment with fans after a taping of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
On the taped segment of the show, Mimi surprised her supporters by walking in mid-way through their exclusive listening session of her new single ‘The Art Of Letting Go’ (click here to watch the video).
Yet, the real fun took place in this behind the scenes footage taped by camp Carey.
The songbird, along with a pianist and backing vocalists, thrilled the elated Lambs with an impromptu jam session – fusing together the instrumentation of one of our favorite cuts (ever) ‘Fly Like A Bird’, as well as new single ”Letting Go’.

It’s so warming to see that beyond the backing tracks, clever pre-records, and so-so material, Mimi can still sang! She sounded phenomenal and, in the process, potently reminded that she has an alien, other-worldly gift versus a learned-talent.

I mean, slayage. Imagine if radio could leave the trash behind and support these ladies. They would still sell albums a la Adele, like they did so many times before.

Although i may never get another emacipation i am happy to be getting bits of good music. People on her say flop, fat and other names but at this point Mariah has nothing to prove as she is already a living legend, and although may now focus on sales and itunes charts and youtube i remember the days when you used to line up outside a record store for Mariah, M.J and whitney albums like people do now with iphones. Legend. She is flawless. TBH these are the best live vocals I’ve heard from her in YEARS. She sounds well-rested and all. I am so here for this. I was underwhelmed by “The Art of Letting Go” (still annoyed she didn’t release “Almost Home” one of her best ballads of the past 10 years…it would’ve SLAYED the charts if she gave it the official single treatment I’m sure). Regardless, even though her voice has changed a lot, this proves to any naysayers that she’s still got it!!!

Lol loving that the Haters are GHOST right now.., you can’t come for her stats or her songwriting ability but up until now it has sure been easy for haters to stay circling around the topic of her ‘declining voice’ like rabid vultures. I have suspected that Mariah’s vocal issues are seasonal and that despite the phenomenal ability that her voice is very susceptible to allergies and hayfever and a lot of other factors. This clip right here is proof that Mariah’s voice is far from damaged and that likely when she sounds off there are contributing factors imparing the sound.
