New Video: Katy Perry – ‘Unconditionally’

Published: Tuesday 19th Nov 2013 by Rashad

She has already ‘Roar’-ed onto charts with the 3x Platinum-selling lead single of her latest album ‘Prism’, but now Pop force Katy Perry is readying (what she hopes will be) an equally successful follow-up with the cinematic video for ‘Unconditionally’.

The Dr Luke produced cut, which has thus far peaked at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, sees its Brent Bonacorso-directed accompanying visual visit familiar territory for the pop princess – dramatic and graphically intense.

We’ve shown you the preview here, but was it worth the wait?  You tell us.  Watch below:

Absolutely stunning!  This visual is just another testament to how Katy Perry – love her or loathe her – may give more shaky live vocals than a Aaron Neville on a rollercoaster, but her videos rarely read “recession proof”.

In an era where artists are microwaving music and their accompanying videos (*cough cough “What Now” cough cough*), we have to at least tip our hat to Perry who – like Lady Gaga – refuses to fit that mold.

This slays. Katy is telling all the basic broads to bow down. Killer Queen, slay Katy Slay.

The only basic around here is Katy’s live vocals. However, the video and the song is nice.

  4. NT November 19, 2013

Great video – I hadn’t listened to the song much before watching this (I bought Prism) but I really like it! People have a lot of negative things to say about Prism but I have enjoyed it thoroughly – I have no doubt this Katy Perry era will be a long one with lots of hits. She can’t sing that well live, but who cares? She still puts on a decent show, and her vocals on certain songs live sound just fine – her deeper, more emotional songs are cool and then she’s got the hits like Roar that get the coins from iTunes as well.

I would say Prism slays. Cuz it doesn’t but this is a nice visual. ARTPOP slayed me more than PRISM.

I can´t believe any person can say “Prism is the best album of the year” with a stright face. I mean, come on. Do you even listent to other music at all?
About Katy: I don´t know, she reminds me of Taylor Swift more and more everyday. Basic, can´t sing to save their lives and try to appeal to teens (sad thing is Katy is almost 30 years old).
