One day before the world parts ways with 2013, Gregory Mead‘s ‘Musicmetric‘ have used data pulled from BitTorrent to compile a list made of the year’s most illegally downloaded entertainers.
Featuring appearances from Justin Timberlake, Flo Rida (pictured above) and ‘Thug In My Life’ performer Rihanna, the list sheds fresh light on industry’s ever-present ‘piracy problem‘, and reveals which of Pop’s contributors is deemed most popular by ‘illegal downloaders.’
Surprising statistics below…
Downloaded over 64.5 million times when their individual figures are grouped together, the acts on the tally above were led by Bruno Mars & Rihanna, whose material found itself ‘pulled without purchase’ nearly 6 million times within the last year.
Interesting, as both entertainers got through the year without birthing new albums, but were still downloaded more times than Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake and Kanye West, three acts who did release new LPs this year.
