What to do when your album isn’t selling? Try giving it away, almost. Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP has been such a dud that amazon.com has been deep discounting it like crazy. The CD sells for $6.99 and the M** download goes for $4.99. Albums cost $6.99 back in 1975, if you’re keeping count. By comparison. Amazon sells Katy Perry’s “Prism” CD for 15 bucks, Britney Spears’s new “Britney Jean” for $11.99, Eminem’s hit “MMLP2″ for $16.88, and the new One Direction collection for $19.46. Lady Gaga’s $4.99 download isn’t exceptional, but it’s about as low as you can go without just tossing the albums in a recycle bin. Meanwhile, iTunes has left ARTPOP at a full price of $14.99. It’s dropped to number 20 after three weeks.

I bought ARTPOP, both copies, at the discounted price. The economy in America is s***. Even ppl with the best occupations are underpaid in some way. Even if I’m a Fan and wanna support artists I like, I’m trying to save money. So I’m not gonna buy ANY album full price unless I like EVERY single song which is unlikely. Cuz I’ve never sat through a CD where there weren’t album fillers. Even in the days CD’s use to sell. People stop fighting! What an obsession with numbers. The important thing here is that this is what happens when you let a not very talented girl be so successful (t*** boom and all that, pure marketing product with no talent for music, only for performing and for just a brief period of 5 years). The girl will be happier living her life. It´s obvious, she wants it and there´s no reason for her to stay suffering cos she knows she doesn´t have it.
Also, so tired of those discounts s*** when everybody does it, even the currently very successful Bruno Mars did it last year so he could say (well his label) that he had a #1 album (when he didn´t need it at all). Mark, I already admitted it flopped cuz it wasn’t that great. I would have saved money to buy it full price had it been a little better. But since I’m a fan, I still bought it. And yeah the other artists u named selling their album full price cuz there is higher demand for their music and a better target audience for their type of music. Combine that with they are what’s “in” at the moment. Pretty soon someone will take their place too when a better act comes around.
