Our friend Miley Cyrus has certainly capitalized on the rump-shaking phenomenon – a tactic that has landed her affront many-a-publication and on top of many-a-chart.
With hits ‘Wrecking Ball’ and ‘We Can’t Stop’ from her #1 album ‘Bangerz’ (in addition to feature on hit songs for other artists), Cyrus’ tongue-and-tail wagging ways may not have won over any fans at the Grammy committee (hence its snub from nomination), but the folks at MTV must love it…
For this, they have crowned the pop princess their 2013 ‘Artist of the Year’. Beating out the likes of Katy Perry, Lorde, P!nk, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Eminem, and Lady Gaga, the announcement accompanies news that Cyrus is also a finalist for Time’s ‘Person of the Year’.

It’s sad that it’s so easy these days to obtain that kind of title. Even worse when Miley Cyrus is crowned it even though she has added no substance or quality or anything meaningful to music.
Mtv has been kissing her ass ever since the VMAs and i find it pathetic.
It will be interesting to see if she’ll fall off next year or maintain her status.. i think her antics will get old fast just look at Flopga for example.
Artist of the year is laughable. Entertainer of the year is arguable whether you like her or not.

No offence to miley but this makes no sense, miley has only been relavent for 3-4 months. Her album sales nothing special and has had only one major hit and that is still a long away from the top 2013 songs.

Music gone to the dogs now its sad to see that girls and boys especially girls trying to go to music and performance arts school to see what it takes to make it in music all u have to do is sell p**** on stage and be naked soon they will close Juliard school its sad to watch what music has turn into a non prostitution of girls.
Wow, all these award shows are losing credibility fast. Seems like they’re just handing everything to anyone. Its sad because there are some really great lyrically amazing artist out there that put some much craft into their work but are overshadowed by the try hards of this generation.

You mean the girl that caught the attention of the media the most this year, right? And not in a good way. She´s not even being that successful, how many copies has she sold from her album? Sure a little bit more than her previous disaster (300,000 copies).
Don´t know what´s worse nowadays: MTV or the AMAs. Grammys are not what they used to be, and one would easily make a few changes in their nominations, but for the most part they are pretty acceptable.
I’m not surprised, she gave MTV what they wanted, she promoted the award show which was boring since Britney’s last performance in 2007, they didn’t have a performance to talk about, MTV is about the music as much as Rihanna is, in the recording studio.
The girl completely overhauled her image and pulled as many obscene stunts as she could and all she got for it was an an MTV award? How sad for her. Those things are like meaningless paper weights these days.

I have nothing against Miley. I think she looks good and she actually has an ok voice. But in no way, shape, or form should she be given the title artist of the year. Smh.

Wrecking Ball is great and all but Miley has yet to prove herself as a true artist. She’s currently just out having fun. There’s no legitimate artistry behind her actions.
