With the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Drake sat atop its food chain, is there still room for 50 Cent in Rap music?
Well, with his business in order and a come-back in mind he certainly hopes so, announcing his return to the scene five years after the release of ‘Before I Self Destruct.’
Peep him dish on his long awaited Rap return after the jump!
Will ‘Animal’ be enough to see him reclaim his title as King of the Hip Hop jungle? Well…we hope so.
For, as difficult as this pill may be to swallow for any aware of his impact and influence circa 2003, the fact of the matter is that a new 50 campaign would see him have to tailor himself to fit into a ‘Jay, Kanye, Wayne & Drake‘ world.
What this means?
Well, while Eminem‘s consistent release schedule has seen him maintain his hold over the general public and thus keep his lane separate from others, 50‘s return will see him tasked with embedding himself in the Hip Hop’s current ‘eco-system’ to claim the same crowds who arm his new set of rivals with major numbers.
In short, unless armed with the finances to push a traditional ’50’ campaign and sound, the ‘Street King‘ may be forced to rework his positioning as to make him palatable for audiences who’d rather spin ‘Poetic Justice‘ than ‘Position of Power.’
