Alas, it would seem Pop royal Rihanna cared little of ‘Girls‘ success when she declined the chance to feature in its second season, deciding to opt out of the opportunity it has emerged today.

After seeking permission to use her Ester Dean-penned number ‘Talk That Talk’ in the HBO series,its producer Manish Raval soon found himself met ‘no’, given no explanation as to why the Grammy winning performer had declined his offer.
He told Radio.com:
“You know, honestly, I don’t know. The scene that she denied it for was the Icona Pop scene.They didn’t give a reason, we didn’t ask for a reason. So I can’t speculate as to why, but you know, it’s a happy accident. She said no and we happened to find the Icona Pop song.”
One possible reason as to why Rihanna rejected the offer?
Cocaine.
For, in the scene Manish had hoped to use the song in, Lena’s character is seen snorting lines of the dangerous drug before partying with boyfriend ‘Elijah Krantz‘, portrayed by ‘The New Normal‘s Andrew Rannells.
Raval went on to share:
“The Icona Pop scene was something I was really proud of. You know after we had shot it and edited it, I was just waiting for it to come out. People responded so much to the Robyn song [“Dancing On My Own”] in season one, I knew people were going to have the same response to the Icona Pop thing.
‘And also because, they were an unsigned band and no one knew the song. It was going to be an inherently original moment. Even when I hear the song now I think of the scene.”
