I have to admit, i was kind of disappointed in Beyoncé’s vocals. She usually has power in her voice, but she sang that song so flat.

People will always find something to complain about. I thought she did a fantastic job, “XO” is not a song that needs big time vocals. I loved the arrangement of the song, she sounded great vocally and she dedicated to the song to her fans. Also, she looked breathtaking. It’s funny to see people who stan for individuals who are vocal disasters try to shade.

Too late. Lana was the hot new “indie” artist in late 2011, well before her album was released, and her first single was one of the most acclaimed of that year.
However, many said her career was over after SNL in 2012, although it didn’t affect her at all outside of the US. Now she’s bigger than ever there, her album is platinum after selling only 77K first week (that’s near impossible these days), and her album sold 5 million worldwide with little promo. The only reason the remix was released was because of Interscope needing some money for Fadga’s massive (failed) promo. And her album is about to spend its 107th week on the Billboard 200, and if HDD is right, it is still top 40 after all this time.
Praise Lana, her staying power. Anyone doubting her longevity at this point needs to take a thousand seats.

And guys admit it, like I siad before: Beyonce had some problems singing this, and it´s not like it is Whitney, mariah or Celine´s type of songs. It´s a pretty simple song. Not every performance needs extra runs and melisma to be great. Beyonce did a good job, one of the few ladies that did. Katy Perry sounded throaty and painful as usual but Lorde had to be the worse. The girl has no talent at all. Now that was a flat performance. Her voice needs preservation. I don’t know how you can judge her octave range on a song like XO were there are like no key changes! The song requires her to sing in a lower register. Her previous Mrs Carter show performances shows she still has plenty of range.

I can’t understand the hate towards her vocal performance. Is XO anything like Resentment? or Pretty Hurts? or Love on Top? or Rocket? Hell, is it similar to Listen? Don’t think so. I’m sorry, but she did an amazing job with the type of song that it is. She can sing whatever she wants, and her voice is as versatile as it was when she began her career. Stop hating just to make yourselves feel better about the artists you support, Beyonce has vocals for days, she proves it with her recordings and her live performances.
This was mediocre for her but Bey seems so laid back these days like she’s saving herself or something.
And Bey is not a smoke and mirrors performer. If you believe that you seriously need to do your research or quit the selective memory because yes, she can be extravagant like many other legendary performers, but she has proved throughout her career she can slay stripped back sets also. She is one of the few performers who can do both and give variety in her shows at a high standard. Amazing Hugh energy performers and big vocal ballads with one spotlight.

Her voice was off, but it was still good, not great, but good. Bey always been a belt/growler, she was never good at falsettos. She can hit them short, but never long like Aaliyah and Ashanti.

XO is low register song. Its quite difficult because its very much one tone sometimes that can be even harder. Theres are no high notes. So I don’t know what people are talking about with that one. Beyonce has a nice falsetto she can sustain, she is a mezzo soprano. But of course its not going to be showcased in this song

I just read that this Brits Award show was the lowest TV viewing show in the 21st century (since 2000). That’s interesting considering they had Katy, Beyoncé, Lorde and One Direction performing.
Last years Brit’s was the highest rated show in over a decade. They just had local Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake performing. I wonder if Beyoncé will get over 27 mil Youtube views like Taylor did for performance that night or 16 mil views that Justin T got.
Twitter was up but it was because of some contest they had and it was open to the world.
I have to admit, in the beginning I thought that she sounded a bit flat. However, towards the end with all of those runs, she sounded angelic. Overall a beautiful performance.
