As the May 6th release of Mariah Carey‘s new album draws closer, her fellow record breaker Celine Dion continues to push her latest album this month, joining Andrew Ross Sorkin on ‘Squawk Box.

There, the glass-shattering vocalist detailed her thoughts on the changing face of Las Vegas, the evolution of the music industry and how she believes it has affected her recording process.

As if that wasn’t enough to keep her fans in the loop, she also took the time to offer them advice of the real estate persuasion.

    Being able to sing isn’t enough nowadays. With shows like X factor American Idol the Voice etc we can see there are thousands of people with fantastic voices but make redundant music.

  2. christinastherealtalent March 14, 2014

    the music industry changes every 5-10 years. Give or take. When most artists reach their 10th year in the industry, fresh faces are already on board and all the attention is focused on them leaving all the veterans out to suffer. That’s why so many talented artists reach an all new low by selling s** because that’s what’s in now.

    Just because you are a great vocalist does not mean your gonna be a success in the music industry.

    Millions of people can sing. But you have to bring something more to the table when you are trying to have a career that most of the successful people are Madonna & Rihanna (who cannot sings in the traditional way)!

    This is why all those people on XFactor & The Voice will NOT have a successful career because the industry dont care if you can sing anymore.

    The SANGING era ended once the Celine, Mariah & Whitney era was over. Around 1998 is once people got tired of the shouting & screaming from big vocalist!

    I true-ly believe Celine was the last big star with SREAMING like vocals to have huge success. After, the whole TITANIC era people was turned completely off by big vocalist…

    79K; FLOOloaded selling more copies than flop me back to retirement.

  5. Stephy Tha Lambily March 14, 2014

    Ugh, Mariah was so pretty when she was young WTF happened!!

    Also, Celine Dion always looked like a horse. No shade tho..

    But unlike Mariah, Celine can still scream on the top of her lungs but nobody cares anymore!

  6. Stephy Tha Lambily March 14, 2014

    Hey, LoveBird…

    I would love some Mariah Carey & Celine Dion Lip Syncing/bashing videos!

  7. mr.m March 14, 2014

    I totally respect this woman. SO CLASSY.
    Such a legend.
    She stayed true to herself and her beautiful music
    NOT like Mariah who still act like a 21 year old h**.
    Well, I still like Mariah tho …
    But Celine is just a world class diva.
    BTW, her album sold 2 million copies ww and she didn’t even shoot one single video for any song.
    She might not sell singles BUT she will always sell albums effortlessly 🙂

  8. MC!!! March 14, 2014

    ummm stephy mariah is 44 of course shes not going to look like how she was when she was 20 weight gain babies etc like GET REAL! Shes human and change like the rest of us do over years! one of the worst “lambs” i came across!

  9. Lena March 14, 2014

    You have to have package now. Not just sing. Its rare you get people like Christina, Beyonce and Gaga who can perform, have charisma, have the looks (Gaga is debatable there lol)AND sing well. Those popstars are rare. You either tick one or two of those boxes. Thats why the industry is full of Rihannas and Katy Perrys.

  10. Lena March 14, 2014

    I respect Celine though, shes not trying hard to be young and keep up with the younger stars.

  11. DIGGER BEY March 14, 2014

    Sam u are to funny lmmfao. You know darn well MooMoo is going to push that album back or it will be shelved. I needed that laugh though. Anyway i luv me some Celine! One of my favs. She still has the Supreme smooth big voice! While others don’t kiii

  12. JOHNVIDAL March 14, 2014

    Goddess Celine always speaks the truth. I don´t even need to see the video.

  13. DIGGER BEY March 14, 2014

    MC…Gurl Bye. Plenty of stars look better in their 40s than they did in their 20s. Stop trying to make excuses for MooMoo morphing from a skiny women to an 1800s Built all kinds of ways Circus woman.

  14. JOHNVIDAL March 14, 2014

    @hatebird (aka proffesional bandwagoner)
    Celine Dion sold more albums in two months in the UK in 2013 from Loved me Back to Life than Milye´s album, Katy Perry´s album (one of your laughable faves) and Lady Gaga´s album. That, at 45 years old, 6 year break between album, not even caring and promoting only for like a month so that she can return to Vegas and her family is an achievement in itself.
    I repeat, this is in 2013 and at 45 years old, without radio support or anything, imagine those other girls careers under 30 when they reach Celine´s age. Celine slays them commercially, so badly. So stay quiet. You don´t know a damn thing.

  15. XoMoDe March 14, 2014

    Millions of people can sing? Yeah, and millions more can’t. What’s your point?

    How are you the “total package” if you can’t sing for sh*t? Those non-singing acts like Rihanna and Katy don’t have a “package,” what they have are petty gimmicks designed to COVER UP what they lack in obvious talent. If they COULD sing like Celine, they’d do it. But they can’t, so instead they get naked and resort to tacky rhetoric on social networking sites.

    That being said, I will say that those reality show singing competitions DO trivialize real vocalists, and should all be cancelled. Maybe once American Idol/The Voice, etc. get axed, people won’t be quite as jaded towards singers with natural talent and gravitate toward smoke & mirrors acts who lack it.

  16. S****** Blonde March 14, 2014

    The problem with artist like Celine Dion is that they can’t reinvent themselves.

  17. JOHNVIDAL March 14, 2014

    @stephy
    Wow you complain about TGJ hating on Mariah non stop but you have such hurtful words for legendary people like Celine or Mariah (or any people legendary or not) about their looks, decisions or personal stuff?
    I agree with @MC´s comment. You are starting to look bipolar hun. Wait till you turn 45 and let´s you what you are doing or behaving or looking, or probably right now. Sorry but what a disappointment. The best people on this site went long ago 🙁

  18. JOHNVIDAL March 14, 2014

    @s******
    No problem there. They do what they want. There are different type of artists.

  19. Rosie March 14, 2014

    Celine’s not doing bad. 1.3 million worldwide with no hit or radio support is great. I don’t see another rival doing that much.

  20. Lovebird March 14, 2014

    Blah blah blah a FLOP is still a FLOP.

  21. Lovebird March 14, 2014

    I bought her album for $3.49, and I consider that overpriced considering what a garbage CD it is. The seller on Amazon agrees with me.

  22. Skyfall March 14, 2014

    @Rosie

    Lana looking cute in that pic boo!

  23. Skyfall March 14, 2014

    Celine has always slayed Canada i knew she would do good there with ease but im surprised she sold as much as you guys are saying, thats amazing considering she only had like one single, a very few tv appearances or radio support.

  24. jillian March 14, 2014

    u America F***** UP THE MUSIC INDUSTRY WHILE SUPPORTING B****** LIKE KATY AND SELENA AND BY MAKING IT ALL ABOUT THE PACKAGE.

  25. Stephy Tha Lambily March 14, 2014

    John, I was just thinking out loud! Mariah does look nice for her age but I was just saying she could look alot better if she kept herself up.

    Anyways, Celine Dion last album was terrible but it did sell almost 3 million copies globally so GREAT for her.

    Opps I mean for her writers & producers! Cause she aint really gonna see that much after they get their fees from a 2 million album seller! But she is already worth like 600 Million so who cares…

  26. Legendtina March 14, 2014

    How is 1.3 million worldwide a flop when the woman is over a decade past her prime, no promo, or hit single? LoveBird have several seats. Celine Dion sells on her name alone. She is a true legend. She never needed to reinvent herself or keep up with a younger generation. She’s not a commercial pop star, she’s a world class vocalist. The problem is that those typed of artists don’t find success anymore. Adele is a rare occurrence. I have faith in Ariana Grande though. She’s no Whitney but she is vocally superior to any girl on radio today. She has a young following that will grow up with her like Miley did. She just needs to find an image that works for her and find a better team. If Ariana got the same promo as Miley I’m sure her album would be at 700k by now. I do believe people care about real singers, they just need the right packaging. The Voice, X Factor, and Idol winners don’t go anywhere anymore because they are all boring artists with no personality. Personality sells.

  27. SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) March 14, 2014

    It seems as if there can’t be a JLO, Celine, or Ariana post without Mariah’s name being mentioned or hinted. Like wtf did the woman do to you bxtches? WHAT?!? Leave her alone. Mariah still remains the highest seller of Nielsen Soundscan while Celine is perched behind. And don’t let me pull out receipts on the amount of today’s musicians who were influenced by Mariah. Celine barely ever gets mentioned. DO NOT TRY IT!

  28. SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) March 14, 2014

    Death @ the pressed Beyonce Stan clinging to Celine. Celine’s voice has struggled many times. 85% of her Vegas shows are LIPPED honey. Yes I said it, LIPPED. Unlike Mariah, Celine actually mastered the art of lip synching which is why she gets away with it more. Mariah is still superior…

  29. SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) March 14, 2014

    “Legendtina”

    I don’t even bother to read those essays when i see ridiculous names like that. Lol

    More like “ButcherTina”

  30. JOHNVIDAL March 14, 2014

    @slayriah
    I agree TGJ is doing the most. But leave Celine out of this. At the end of the day both s*** on all these people´s faves.

  31. SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) March 14, 2014

    @JohnVidal

    You’re right, I got a little carried away. But I hate to see someone who has done pretty much everything in the industry get such harsh treatments. Most of these people (including Sam) who are hating know that their faves were influenced by Mariah. Nonetheless, I wish both Celine and Mariah the best.

  32. JOHNVIDAL March 14, 2014

    @slayriah
    They are so much bigger than all of the rest usually mentioned in TGJ. Like it´s hilarious seeing them trying to call them flops? For their releases at 45 years old? And even so, still outperforming many of them… now, in 2014? I mean, come on. Sam is having mental problems or something.

  33. SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) March 14, 2014

    @JohnVidal

    Lol right? Their accolades, sales, impact, etc makes all of them look like garbage. They have to do everything to stay in the media while Mariah and Celine used their god given talents. These people worship gimmicks and barely talented. Honestly, who will be checking for any of these people 16 years from now? Who will be saying “when I heard Daiomds and We found Love, I knew I wanted to become a singer.” These people are just here now selling singles but won’t have that much of a legacy later on.

  34. DOSSOME March 14, 2014

    Loved me back to life is amazing…i love this woman.These “flop” comments are getting boring,get creative or do us all a favour by shutting up
