Im a huge fan,but I’ll be honest. The problem in reality is Mariah, herself. she has become extremely unrelatable, her diva attitude has hurt her big time. Her lip syncing is also a huge turnoff, it is apparent that she only possesses a fraction of the talent she vocally once had. With that said, she should be more humble/grounded. and lastly she should musically Explorer out of her comfort zone. at this point for music has become predictable and a one trick pony. Regardless of your taste in music, you should be able to see if an artist is talented or not, for example: Michael Jackson does nothing for me as a lyricist, even as a performer, he was a great dancer but even the art of dance is full of variety, so to say that he was a better dancer than Fred Astaire is just a matter of taste and vice versa, that being said, i can deny the man was very talented, even if his works are not essential to me. Another example: would you say Whitney Houston was more talented than Janet Jackson just because of her voice?, the answer is no, like Madonna, Janet’s strengths are not based on her vocals, there are plenty of things you should value when it comes to know what talent is and who possesses it. It’s all about what kind of music genre/performer and artist you are attracted, but when it comes to talent not only a good voice or being a good dancer counts, some people are obsessed with Mariah’s type of singing and Janet’s type of dancing, if you don’t sing like her or dance like the Jacksons, there’s no room for you in the book of certain people.

I love R&B but I tthink the song is weak. She needs stronger material. Her voice has weakened but if she had better lyrics and melodies or unique material to work with her vocal ability would be more than sufficient. I disagree with the whole idea that the music is solid but something else like the industry climate, management, or her attitude is to blame. R&B is clearly making a comeback but you have to come correct no matter who you are. With this recycled sound Mariah is falling short imo.

The album could have been released and already sold 200-300k copies. And these new songs could be on a re-release or even a new album. An EP. Whatever. Same thing with poor Ashanti.
