Alexandra Burke is making major moves.
Much of the last year has seen the vocal powerhouse cooking up her third studio album in New York with the likes of Rico Love. Yet, pre-serving up the hotly anticipated LP, the 25-year-old has announced that she’ll be showcasing her talent on blockbuster West End musical – ‘The Bodyguard’.
Details below…
The hit show, which is based on the Whitney Houston movie of the same name (as well as the icons many hits), will welcome Burke for a Summer stint starting on June 2nd.
She has been tapped to replace Beverley Knight in the lead role of Rachel Marron on the critically and commercially successful production.
The show’s producer said of Burke:
“We saw her, and our creative team met her, and she was fabulous and knocked the songs out of the park.”
And we don’t doubt him. Performing on That Grape Juice’s The Splash, Alex proved that she is more than capable of tackling Houston’s hits. Case, point, her spine-tingling rendition of ‘Saving All My Love For You’:
According to Broadway World, Burke will star in The Bodyguard through the end of the musical’s run on August 30th.
We imagine, thereafter, it’ll be album mode. In the here and now, though, we’re loving the versatility Alex is showcasing.
Oh I thought it was going to be “Alexandra Burke lands new record deal”, I wonder what Simon Cowell is doing right about now.

Good for her she’s still a Ciara knock off to me.
The biych has an incredible voice but i dont think she’s gonna happen
Never heard of this broad
Well she can without sounding a mess unlike Christina.
Have yall noticed Miley has almost become completely irrelevant lately? like no one talks about her anymore was she really a fad?
Amazing news for her! She’ll be flawless!
This heifer needs to shine on an album.
That voice would slay so many but the UK industry heads as per usual are clueless on how to market her right.
This is good but I’d prefer hearing those vocals that won her x-factor be globally recognised.
Then again look at all those failing nowadays after winning US TV talent shows.
Such a waste, while one direction, cher lloyd and Leona have success she was left to rot
I hear a less forceful voice when I think of Whitney’s music. Tamyra Gray, Tamia, and maybe Tarralyn Ramsey–just for starters–would handle it well.
They really f***** up her career.
