This year, music lovers can look forward to new LPs from a number of Pop gems, with the likes of Rihanna, Ciara and Nicki Minaj sharpening their swords for chart battles in the months to follow.
However, before they ladies mentioned above impact the charts with a new sound, Lana Del Rey and Mariah Carey are given good cause to celebrate the impending launches of their new projects, after both welcomed new radio and sales achievements recently.

Perhaps the light at the end of her iTunes tunnel, Adult Contemporary radio formats kicked off their support for her new single ‘You’re Mine (Eternal)’ this month, weeks before the May 6th unveiling of her new album.
Thanks to their support, the single made the greatest debut on the format this week and arrived at #26, and now-if received by well the format’s listeners- should see the song follow suit on all of the formats it’s being serviced to.
More interestingly- and a more lucrative tip- her success on AC stations may see her new album exceed current expectations and win the support of ‘older’ audiences, who usually opt to purchase LPs over singles.
Elsewhere, the release of Lana Del Rey‘s ‘Tropico‘ went a long way to push sales of the New Yorker’s music, with sales of her ‘Born To Die‘ debut now well over the 719,000 mark in the UK.
As if that wasn’t enough to silence those in doubt of her ‘pulling power’, the starlet now has three US Platinum singles to her stage name, after both versions of ‘Summertime Sadness‘ joined ‘Young and Beautiful’ to greet the Recording Industry Association of America’s Platinum hand, for sales of 1 million units…each.
