The song “Bubblegum” is terrible. I do not know one single person checking for this album. He would be better off releasing singles or 2-3 song EPs. People can hate on Chris Brown all they want, but he puts out a completely different caliber of music compared to Jason Derulo. Chris puts out the club-bangers also but just something about the quality of the production is miles ahead of this mess. No coins for a single one of these songs will leave my purse.

I kind of agree with Yorkel. This is the first time I’ve even given his album a chance and questioned whether I should buy it. His body is a plus too. But right now, I’m still on the fence about it and would have to check it out on spotify before I can say I would want to have it in my car or in my ears when I workout.

I have to laugh at how all the sudden Jason wants to be black. 2 years ago he was trying his hardest to be a male version of Gaga/Katy.

    • OrangeJuiceInstead April 15, 2014

What exactly qualifies someone to “be black”? I mean…. he is in fact black.

      • XoMoDe April 15, 2014

Don’t play dumb. You know what he means. Derulo went from being a tight pants wearing, skateboard toting hipster type who made vanilla dance/pop ala Kesha and Pitbull to now hanging out with rappers while trying to channel ol’ school Usher. The change-up is glaring.

      • OrangeJuiceInstead April 15, 2014

So what? He was still black then and still he’sl black now. I don’t think what you do should determine whether you’re “Black” or not. its just stilly.

People change, and if he wanted to switch up his style thats fine, but to say he was any less black for wearing tight pants or having a skateboard is just crazy.

        Be yourself. not a race.

yng black ppl (25 and under) in general are acting “whiter” these days then they did 10 yrs ago and i dont like it.

      • OrangeJuiceInstead April 15, 2014

I can someone act a race though?? lol.

People can hate all they want on jason but he’s really the only black
male pop act thats having success on both sides of the atlantic. KARMA SUTRA FOR NEXT SINGLE

Pretty much, most of what’s worth hearing on this album has already hit the charts, but there was an additional track or two here worth a listen (Fire, Stupid Love). But what I admire is this man’s hustle. And I will admit, I didn’t really like Talk Dirty until I saw the video.

And . . . Kudos to whomever put up this streaming album video with each song highlighted as it plays!

I wasn’t expecting a hip-hop album with rap features, but if Justin can morph from NSYNC into someone who is celebrated by black audiences and wins BET awards, why can’t Jason be embraced too? If you want to go deeper into the subject, applaud Jason for actually staying black while other African American artists are lightening their skin and wearing unnatural blonde wigs/weaves or dying their hair (think Chris Brown).

    Bubblegum sounds like Trey Songz.

  11. Navy Commander(WEST COAST) April 15, 2014
