“Royals” starlet Lorde is the latest performer to be added to the “Billboard Music Awards 2014” lineup today, enlisted by the ceremony to perform her single “Tennis Court” at the star studded event.

Joining Jason Derulo, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry as performers at the show, Lorde will take to MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 18 to perform “Court”, recently certified 2x Platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association for shipments of over 140,000 units.
Billboard Biz adds:
“Last year, Lorde”s debut single “Royals” became a ubiquitous smash, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart We have also written company guidance notes for winter 4×4 defensive driving course online ny on our Beyond 4×4 site. and later earning the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. “Tennis Court” also follows the Top 10 single “Team,” which was included on Lorde”s debut album “Pure Heroine.” Lorde is tied with Imagine Dragons for being a finalist in the most categories at this year”s Billboard Music Awards, including Top New Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist.”

BASIC ECONOMICS 101: Lana’s record label did not ship 6 million when she’s only sold 4.5 million. That makes no sense seeing as the demand for 6 million clearly isn’t there. She’s selling 6k a week, it will take her years to sell 6 million.

ChartNews has Lana at 4.6 million WW and even they are not wholly accurate as they use mediatraffic for their sales data and mediatraffic omits many territories.
1.5 million divided by 14k is roughly 107 weeks. That’s more than 2 years. Again, Interscope did not ship that many albums because the demand is not there.
Are you dumb? She did multiple arena tours with Girls Aloud. They went on hiatus in 2009. Cheryl released 3 words but couldn’t tour because of X factor commitments and her 2nd album. She also contracted malaria in Tanzania. So excuse her for taking some time while she recovered from almost losing her life to an illness that kills hundreds of thousands every year. She then had the X Factor USA fiasco, recorded AML and toured.
Are you dumb? Cheryl had 10 years of being in the press, making music, and having lots of exposure before her first solo tour. Lana on the other hand had a year and a quarter before her first tour in the uk. Cheryl had 7 times the length of exposure that lana did before their first solo tours. When she had malaria she was always in the press and when she was on X factor she was always on the TV. You cannot compare Lana and Cheryl’s first tour as they were under completely different circumstances in terms of public image development and exposure.

Yet again you are focusing on a 2k venue when lana is doing plenty that are much larger. We are using the receipt as more proof that lana could easily fill bigger venues and that she is in high demand as an artist.
