After earning a seat at Pop’s cool table under her tutelage, Ariana Grande joins ‘Republic Records’ in celebrating Wendy Goldstein‘s promotion to ‘Head of Urban A&R’ at the label!
What this could mean for future Grand releases?
Find out below…
After becoming the label’s Senior VP of A&R in 2011, Goldstein was tasked with boosting the label’s stock within the Urban arena, doing so successfully with the signing of ‘Red Nose’ rapper Sage The Gemini and collaborating with Grande to create her debut LP ‘Yours Truly.‘
Now, in acknowledging the part she played in turning the singer into Pop’s most celebrated debutante, ‘Republic’ have now promoted Goldstein, seeing her take on the title ‘Head of Urban A&R’ at ‘Republic.’
Set to strengthen Ariana’s standing as the label’s brightest star, Wendy’s new role comes before the release of the singer’s second studio album, and 21 years after she took on an A&R role at ‘Geffen Records‘, oft praised for signing Common, The Roots and Mos Def.
On the power player, ‘Republic’ founders Monte & Avery Lipman shared:
Wendy has worked with many of today’s most popular artists and is widely respected throughout the industry. She has overseen the production of many significant albums that have made a tremendous impact on pop culture. Her contribution to Republic remains invaluable. Her diligence, work ethic and prescient perspective contributed to establishing the label as a powerful force in the urban marketplace.”
Added Avery: “Wendy’s been a part of this family since the beginning. We have a tremendous professional history together. Her knack for helping artists realize their true potential is genuinely one of a kind. It’s an honor to build upon our legacy as a team.
In response, she explained:
I want to continue building the urban presence of Republic Records. Monte, Avery and Rob are the greatest. They encourage everyone around them to thrive. We all share the same mindset. We have a common goal to finish number one. It’s one of the best environments I’ve worked in. We all love music, and we want to build a legacy for the Republic brand.
