At this point, the messiness of the campaign for Mariah Carey‘s new album precedes the project itself.
From non-charting singles, to endless delays, to a surprise roll-out that never came to pass, it’s been quite the roller-coaster for ‘Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse’.
And with the LP experiencing more lows than highs, all eyes are on how it’s set to fare in the one region it has actually been promoted in — the US.
So without further adieu, Mimi’s first week figures await below…
According to Hits Daily Double, ‘Me. I Am Mariah’ will open with first week sales of…
56,605
The numbers see the LP on course to chart at #4 on tomorrow’s Billboard 200. However, as Mimi sold just 500 copies more than nearest competitor ‘Frozen’, the album could actually chart lower at #5 depending on how the raw numbers are rounded up.
Standing at this junction, all that’s needed to be said has been said already. It’s a sad state of affairs, but it happens.
In Mariah’s own words, let’s hope she’ll ‘Shake It Off’ and begin working on a plan to redeem herself. She’s proven her comeback queen once, it’ll be interesting to see if she can do so again.
