My tweet, a joking one at that (though I write critical, in-depth tweets and essays on the colourism, racism, anti-Blackness and White supremacy as well as misogynoir that shapes how beauty politics impact Black women, something sites like this don’t seem interested in) was about everyday people consistently attacking Blue Ivy. I’ve sent many tweets on the topic for years. When you sloppily tweet stalk and call that “research” a “quote” or an “interview” this is the mess you create. This not journalism. This is yet another example of the sloppy plague of snatching tweets and calling that writing and research. While tweets are public content, for some reason journalists think this means that ethics no longer apply. Consent no longer applies. Respect no longer applies. If I was responding to any of these women, I would have mentioned their name or @ them directly. Do not involve me in your games for page clicks. At least have the decency to ask so I can have the opportunity to say NO. Thank you.
