Shalamar‘s classic 80’s hit ‘A Night To Remember’ gets a royal revamp courtesy of Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige.
A funky affair decorated with clips from the film ‘Think Like A Man Too,’ starring Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union, and more, the song is one of 14 lifted from the official soundtrack of the same name. Led by the Queen herself, with help from Pharrell, the Dream, and others, the tune’s parent album is due in stores tomorrow (June 17th).
Giving fans just one more reminder why they should check out the MJB-heavy affair, tuck in below for the first official visual from the album. It all awaits:
I’m sorry but in general, with only a handful of exceptions, I hate remakes, especially when I happen to love the original. I like the duet aspect of the original with Howard Hewett and Jody Watley and it’s always been one of my favorite Shalamar songs so listening to any remake as opposed to the original would annoy me. Nothing against Mary, she did a nice job I just would much prefer to listen to the original.

Actually, I’ve been thinking about it for the past few minutes and the only remake that I can think of at the moment that I do prefer over the original is K-Ci’s version of “If You Think You’re Lonely Now” over Bobby Womack’s original. Bobby is naturally soulful but K-Ci’s version had more heartfelt emotion in my opinion and actually singing as opposed to speaking the song out like Bobby did a lot of in his version. K-Ci sang the heck out of that song!
Love it! Great edit. Looks like the cast all is apart of the video.
