Capping off a week of aggressive promotion for new album ‘A.K.A’, diva Jennifer Lopez showed up and showed out at Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series today.
Backed by an army of dancers, the dynamite performer lived up to that billing – thrilling the thousands in attendance with show-stopping renditions of ‘Booty’, ‘First Love’, ‘On The Floor’, and the classic ‘Let’s Get Loud’.

JLo has always been a great performer. I wish people would stop acting so suprised about her sales, she hasn’t had a platinum album since 2002, that should tell you something. However, she is an extremely accomplished woman. I was watching a video of her dancing behind MC Hammer before they both were famous, she was trying so hard to get noticed and stand out, and she did. Why isn´t Sam shading JLo on a daily basis like he did with Mariah for months and keeps on doing? JLo is giving good performances, ok, it would be wonderful to only point that out and not her mega flops. But if you do that, do it with everybody. Mariah Carey released a great album, she gave you great music once more, a “fact” admitted by Sam himself, but he needed to bash her constantly cause of her commercial flop (her only flop album really and a smaller flop than JLo´s if anyway). Wow, this brightened up my day because Jenny puts on a damn good show! I’m not so big on J.Lo’s music as I was back in the 2000s but I will always have a soft spot for her because of the prowess she displays as a performer. Not only that, but like fine wine, she’s aged beautifully. I mean, look at her flawless skin and that body! Now, on A.K.A’s poor chart performance, I saw it coming but I did enjoy the album nonetheless and like @Dossome, I’m disappointed in the way TGJ handled the reporting (or lack thereof) of Jenny’s album as opposed to the frequent articles shaming Mariah. I love both women and it’s sad that today, we can’t respect older artists for paving the way for the new generation even though their commercial relevance may be waning. They did the best that they could during their peaks and frankly, have nothing to prove anymore. That being said, I just wish this obsessive and hateful stan culture would just die. It’s hurting the music industry more than we give credit for. Everyone’s on a ‘team’, is unwilling to support multiple artists and are so hell bent on ‘dragging’, ‘providing receipts’ instead of just enjoying the music.
That’s true, there was a time when we all supported the great ones regardless of who was our favorite, for example a Janet fan would buy a Madonna album and vice versa because they all were so good that you just had to have a piece of them all.
Exactly! It’s annoying because I remember what it was like when you went out and supported great music! I’m not a Madge fan (I have The Immaculate Collection, lol) but I respect her longevity and the way she’s impacted Pop culture. I love and support everyone from Legends like Janet down to Ciara who many deem an unfixable flop and gets ridiculed endlessly on this site. It’s sad tbh.
*Oh and I did take your recommendation to listen to Ray of Light. It was VERY difficult to get into at first so I had to read up on Madonna to see where she was at that point in her life. After, a few more listens, I get it and it’s a stellar, sonically innovative piece of work :)*
