As history has shown time in and out, success always comes with a side-helping of backlash. Just ask Iggy Azalea.
The ‘Fancy’ femcee has become the aim of many a jab since hitting the scene – with fellow artists and their fans swinging at her with equal ferocity.
All came to a head at the BET Awards this past Sunday.
Nominated in the Best Female Hip-Hop category, Australian Azalea also took to the stage to perform with rapper T.I.
The social media digs flowed like water and literally gushed once “supposed” rival Nicki Minaj made a number of eyebrow-raising comments during her acceptance speech.
And while the latter has since gone on to clarify her words, Azalea has seized this moment to offer her two cents on the matter.
See what she had to say below…
Accompanying the post, which was shared on Instagram, the 23-year old wrote:
This is my mind state about everything & the only time I’m ever going to refer to this again so go nuts guys, Enjoy it. Ps. If you squint exxxtra hard you can see tiny elves having illuminati meetings between the lines in my notes app too.
Kudos to Iggy for holding her own. That said, it’ll always perplex as to why artists even bother giving the haters the time of day. It’s a generally fruitless exercise and only serves to intensify the “hate” – as the critics now know what buttons to press to provoke a response.
Anyway…
