The songbird’s sophomore set hatches on August 25th, and while its preceding singles – ‘Problem’ and ‘Break Free’ – have assured that it’ll have ample “Pop” in its DNA, the singer seems keen to assure there’ll be soulfulness too.
Taking to Instagram, the 21-year-old shared a snippet of a new song titled ‘Best Mistake (ft. Big Sean)’ with her 12 million followers.

I honestly can’t wait to hear but I might get annoyed of it due to the amount of features the album has but oh well. I represent that #1993 Life! And Ariana is about that #1993 Life!

This sounds exactly like a Mariah song, especially those runs at the end. I tried to stop comparing her to Mariah but damn it’s like every time she does something you can’t help but see the …mmm “influence”
It used to be comical cuz it was so obvious and she started off giving MC respect in interviews. But now that she started playing dumb/India Aire is my idol bullsh*t…..its just approaching some single white female level. MC better start being careful walking down the stairs and locking her doors at night LOL
The comparisons themselves are comical now. Mariah fans can’t even think of anything to compare Ariana to so they just say it sounds like something Mariah would do. They even tried with Problem and Break Free. Since they can’t name a specific song ots now “her style/her sound” *rolls eyes*
ORIGINAL artists have signature sounds/styles… you can listen to any Mariah album starting with the first one and identify her signature runs, stacking vocals one octave under the other, and background vocal arrangement. Don’t act brand new.
Other than that I don’t know about the song… I need a longer snippet.

Seems like a nice R&B cut but I’ll need to hear the full thing. Its funny how no one cares when rappers have features up the a$$ on their album but its an issue when Ariana does it.
Ariana is talented, but this song is just reminding me so much of the E=MC2/Memoirs era: the layering, the beat, and the runs. Her producers are really dead set on following Mariah’s formula, but good for Ariana because this song sounds better than her two almost-EDM pop songs.
