Calvin Harris is renown for his quietness. However, the hitmaker is refusing to stay silent regarding comments made by ex-girlfriend Rita Ora.
As widely reported over the weekend, the singer’s performance of ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ at the Teen Choice Awards was abrupt axed – with multiple sources stating that it was Harris (who produced the song) who exercised his right to block the performance.
23-year-old Ora confirmed the story as true during a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest. The result? Intense debate among the public about the right and wrongness of her words and his actions.
It would appear all the hoopla has made for Harris to speak up and out to offer his take on the matter.

This is not petty as he has the legal right to decide who uses his music, she is just someone he doesnt want to. She decided to cancel the performance.
This is all so stupid. Him blocking her from performing that song at a nationally televised event was the ultimate “cutting off your own nose to spite your face” move. It would have given HIS song more exposure and HE would have reaped monetary reward from it. Just her performing the song would have given the publisher flat compensation. And if it spiked sales, that would have been even more money. What a fool.
Anyway, Rita and Roc should take this as a lesson to not depend so heavily on cocky and overused songwriters who think that they’re the rock stars. It would be to everyone’s benefit if she from here on out started being at least a primary co-writer of her own music so that she can better control how it’s used. And when she does record a song written by someone else, she should stipulate in the contract that she has free reign to perform it whenever and wherever.
