‘Wildest Dream’ singer Brandy has apologised to media mogul Oprah Winfrey for lying to her during an interview taped in 2002.
Shot after the singer announced she was expecting a child with then boyfriend Robert Smith, Norwood’s interview with Oprah brought with it claims that she had secretly wed Smith before she was pregnant, something Brandy now admits was a lie.
Now watch the performer reveal why she felt having a child out of wedlock would ruin her image, and scare away supporters who saw as the wholesome alternative to R&B’s more provocative stars, below…
On this Sunday’s ‘Where Are They Now?’, Brandy tells Oprah:
I felt the pressure of having to be perfect. And I was scared. I thought that everything that I have worked hard for and everything that I worked to build — the image that I worked so hard to build — was threatened. At that time, being pregnant out of wedlock was not a trend. It was a sin.I’m really sorry for that. I mean, you just don’t lie to Oprah.

And Oprah is a flop with that bet/Tvone mash up style network of hers nobody checking for that nomore.
I respect Oprah for all of her hard work and career achievements but I think it’s plain sick how people think she’s “God” and that if you don’t share mutual feelings for her, you’ll be condemned. This is exactly why I cannot stand certain celebrities and how their image is projected.
She beats herself up for that, but at the end it was non of our business. She was 22 or 23 when she had her child, that’s not bad at all.
Motha Oprah! I love her network (despite everyone saying its a flop). Anyways, Brandy is a beautiful woman inside & out. I cannot believe Ray J has the same blood line as her… I hope she gets some kind of success with her next alubm/single.

Brandy should have declined this offer!! She is above a “Where are they Now” special. She is still very much current (a cast member on a popular TV show on the air, and a recent album within the last 2 years). I have to sideeye Oprah/her producers for even asking her to do it. She should have been offered a “Next Chapter” like Rihanna, Beyonce, and even Lindsey Lohan.

Brandy made a mistake by having her hands in too many pots while she was young and it burned her out…then she took that long break and the last image people had of her was this teenage girl with braids, so she comes back all grown and months later gets pregnant and lies about the marriage it was just all down hill from there…had her team handled things better she would be among the better album sellers in R&B still cause her talent has only gotten better over the years and that’s saying a lot cause we all know Brandy was always talented.
Funny , I couldve sworn Brandy was currently a lead character on one of cables highest rated sitcoms , The Game … , and did she not release a critically acclaimed album last year?

I definitely respect the big O, but Bran should not be on this show! She’s way to relevant for this type of theme. As for her mishaps in the past, it’s called life! We all make decisions we regret and I never felt like her mistakes were such a big deal.

actually it was 2002 when her multiplatinum album “full moon” then she went to oprah legends ball in 2005 and last time i checked that’s when afrodisiac came out you know the one that was critically acclaimed as well as getting props from beyonce rihanna and the red hot chilli peppers ….carry on dear lol

where are they now special is for people on the oprah show and last week nicole ritchie was doing an interview with her and she is still very popular. and just an fyi vocal flops don’t numerous artist paying homage to their craft (for example if it wasn’t your fav listenin to afrodisiac while recording good girl gone bad she wouldn’t have had a breakout album) #imdone 😉
