Grammy winning gospel rapper Lecrae saw his name etched in history books today as he became the first gospel act to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 with his new album ‘Anomaly.’ Aptly titled for, in addition, he’s the first gospel act to see his name at #1 on the Billboard 200 & Gospel charts simultaneously.
The feat is all the more impressive when one considers that he has never had a single charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
With nearly 90k registered in sales for the week, Lecrae leads a cast of new entries who have made quite the impression on the albums chart. The week’s most anticipated debut, coming from longtime underground R&B soulstress Jhene Aiko, trails the rapper with an impressive debut of her own.
