New Song: Aretha Franklin – ‘Rolling In the Deep’ [Must Hear!!]

Published: Monday 29th Sep 2014 by Rashad

Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin is back!

The 72-year-old singer, with the help of Clive Davis, is breathing new life into a number of classic “diva” offerings from the likes of Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, and more.  Unveiling news on her newest album ‘Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics,’ if you’ve ever wondered what Franklin’s thrilling gospel style would sound like over the instrumental of Alicia Keys‘No One,’ then wonder no more.

With 10 tracks of Re-re revamps aboard one album, the decision of choosing one to kick off the October 21st due set had to have been challenging.  Alas, the selection came in the form of Adele’s monster hit ‘Rolling In the Deep.’

Will Franklin see her version roll the song right back to the top of charts?  You tell us after you listen to this must hear tune:

Song suits her like a glove.

She is using too much auto-tune, it takes away from the grit and soulfulness of the song…But overall it was not bad, and i like d mash-up…..Dis bish at the age of 72 can sill out-sing most of these girls in pop tho….

  5. LB September 29, 2014

Career Ender, I don’t have to live in South Africa to know about it, that is just ignorant.

I don’t live in South Africa, I just have an interest in it. And even if I did, so what? What is so bad about South Africa?

This sounds like a YouTube cover. She sounds like she’s singing to be signed.
She sings way to good to have such crap production and the auto tune is just a disrespect in itself!!!!

      Lawd! I just about died!

  12. JOHNVIDAL September 29, 2014

I think it is a very good version (I´m not saying great cause I don´t like the last part). Remember this lady is not 30 years old, so anything that sounds very good is an achievement. She should have included a Mariah carey song on the album though. We know she loves her 🙂 But it´s an idea that could work for her, very Barbra Streisand like.

  17. LB September 29, 2014

Career Ended, you will have to be important for me to want to prove anything to you and as it stands, you’re not.

  18. Lolwha’ September 29, 2014

    smart move. those eyebrows tho.

  19. tits mcgee September 29, 2014

The production is kinda messy here. However,
Aretha gives me inflection and soul on this song,
more than I have had heard it sung before.

  20. Career Ender September 29, 2014

why would I seek importance from a BLOG? and especially a r****** like you?

  22. Mark111 September 29, 2014

I always thought Adele was a white washed Aretha and Rolling In The Deep had a Respect sound.
Anyway, the Queen of Soul! A real queen, not one of those self proclaim ones.

  24. Lettuce September 29, 2014

    Damn Aunt Ree!

Did ur mum not abort you

  26. The Truth Emeritus September 29, 2014

Truly icon voice. It’s a shame the artist of this generation can do songs from the past any justice, with the accepting of a few.

  27. Spunkypoop September 29, 2014

YESSSSSS Mother Aretha!! I love her so much and her voice is still soulfully energized and touching souls.

  28. eric September 29, 2014

I like the concept, but not the execution.

  29. Polo September 29, 2014

I hear lots of screeching and autotune. I don’t like this. I still listen to Aretha’s old music though.

  30. NOLIES September 29, 2014

    THE Queen of Soul

  31. Anne September 29, 2014

Pretty good but Aretha at her peak would have killed this. It’s a bit heartbreaking to listen to her perform at less than her peak. Still good though.

  32. Ha September 30, 2014

Aretha sounds a mess! Yes I know she’s past her peak vocally and she is 72,but this is a horrible cover.1956-2005 Aretha would’ve destroyed this song, modern drag it out over phrasing aretha sounds a mess as of late on record, but still sounds great live.
