Winning: Jessie J’s ‘Sweet Talker’ Debuts Within US Top Ten / ‘Bang Bang’ Bops Towards Double Platinum Mark

Published: Wednesday 22nd Oct 2014 by David

Flying the flag for British music in the US this week is Jessie J, kicking down the ‘Billboard 200‘s front door and placing herself within its Top Ten with new album ‘Sweet Talker.’

In the mood for good news?

Step into Jessie’s world below…

Despite moving an undeniably modest 22,000 units, Jessie‘s ‘Talker’ debuts at #9 on this week’s chart, pushed to the coveted spot by lead single ‘Bang Bang‘!

For, as if the success of the album wasn’t enough to put a smile on the chart-topper’s face, there’s no doubt ‘Bang’s sales will do the trick, especially now that they belt to the tune of 1,787,000 units!

Can you say winning?

  2. Beysus October 22, 2014

    • kkkllll October 23, 2014

just have patience y’all people will catch on to jessie j if this album is good….shell get it if she deserves it

  3. Realest October 22, 2014

So you had a whole manual full of suggestions to Mariah about what she had to do when her album sold almost 60k with ZERO PROMO, only one hit “beautiful” which came out a year previous to the albums release- yet 25k is modest with a current double platinum hit? Hmm. Corny

    • ASipOfBrandy October 22, 2014

      Zero promo? Let’s not.

      • Ariana’sGrand October 22, 2014

Did this girl say zero promo? Are you forgetting why did she Idol in the first place. And what about that special she shot at her house? Oh, and let’s no forget about the Clear Channel deal she got for Beautiful. Need I say more.

      • Realest October 22, 2014

Idol ended waaaaaaaaaaaaay before the cd was released, almost a year. That does not directly correlate with her albums release or constetute promo. She did 106 and park, good morning America, and her tv special(which was on Saturday the worst day for tv), all which were substantially before or after her album release. She basically did zero promo. And still did around 60k..
unlike ariana who is supposed to be this IT GIRL and did SNL, goodmorning America, MTV trl, iHeartMusic festival, various magazine covers and interviews and basically EVERY POSSIBLE MEDIA OUTLET POSSIBLE, plus “problem” “bang bang” and “break free” and still debuted only at 100,000 or so.. Not much more than mariah and is still yet to be platinum.. First or 2nd cd…Tragic.

      • Realest October 22, 2014

Eh basically zero… On a scale from 1-10 she did 1-2

    • TheElusiveLamb October 22, 2014

We shouldn’t let the haters and etc bring us down. It’s obvious Mimi is oneof the last legends in her last days, but we should try to directly lift her up until she leaves us with only her music. One/Fourteen isn’t bad.

  4. MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Them Iggy sales are looking mighty fine right about now…

    • DanitySlain October 22, 2014

      2 doesn’t become a giant when it’s placed next to 1.

    • NICKI IS QUEEN October 22, 2014

All you hasbeen Stan’s cling to iggy

      • AzealiaBankable October 22, 2014

      • NICKI IS QUEEN October 22, 2014

        Mmhmm smh

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

I don’t “Stan” for anyone… I’m a fan of Missy. Death at a Azealia Banks fan talking about anyone’s sales. She can’t even get an album out.

      • Realest October 22, 2014

But Misdemeanor will ALWAYS be better and looked upon in a higher regard than Nicki.. In rap.. In pop.. In creativity…. In originality and overall influence..
        She is Nickis superior.

    • Lana Del Bae October 22, 2014

What’s mighty fine about 50k? She couldn’t even outsell Feature.

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

And where is his sales currently Lana Del Killme?

    • KeriMeHome October 22, 2014

She says she’s a Missy fan but spells her name wrong all the time. That’s now how you spell Misdemeanour boo boo.

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

LOL… it’s Misdemeanor dumbazz and I spell MY name like I want.

      • KeriMeHome October 22, 2014

        No dear, you are illiterate.

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

For an ole gutter s*** m***** you “try” to throw a few jabs when the reality is you are just some snot nose w**** that is the result of a parking lot prostitution deal.

      • KeriMeHome October 22, 2014

You want to talk about prostitution when your mom’s been turning tricks for bundles and cheetos since Bush was in office? Oh girl, I can’t and I shan’t.

      • Realest October 22, 2014

@Keri :Missy doesn’t spell it the dictionary way lover girl, she spells it Misdemeanor … Google is your friend

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Bish your mother stuffs dog treats in her a** just to get someone to touch her fat a**. Fact when it gave birth to you she thought she was taking a $hit.

  5. TeenageDreamer October 22, 2014

Jessie has credibility, something Texas Bride Iggy doesn’t have so you can stop with your shade. Her sales ARE flopulous but she’s respected so will slay eventually.

    • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Honey MIlli Vanilli sold MILLIONS of albums… well we see how that went.

    • Commander of the RihannaNavy October 22, 2014

Lol @ credibility. What credibility is there in being a poor man’s Katy Perry? I dont see her album surpassing The New Classic or anyone else tbh.

  6. BadGyalRita October 22, 2014

Iggy’s label had to pay CC for her On The Verge Deal and she only did 50k. Hmmmphh? Shame upon shame.

    • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Good for them, him, or her…

      • KeriMeHome October 22, 2014

      • KeriMeHome October 22, 2014

What has that got to do with your p**** warts?

    • Commander of the RihannaNavy October 22, 2014

Receipts? Ironic for a Whora fan to cry payola when Rita has been using it from day one and is still a flop. TNC’s US sales>>>>>ORA’s sales worldwide. Have a seat

  7. Gio88 October 22, 2014

i don’t understand first you continue to say the new Classic from iggy azalea had poor album sales, but she is a newbie iaustralian white rapper and then you say that sweet talker from jessie j , an english singer with her third album debut ing with just 22.000 copies after the mega success of bang bang has had a Good result…..sorry but i don’t understand.

    • TruthAboutPink October 22, 2014

Because being a white girl with blonde hair is a disadvantage? Please, TF had to break the bank JUST to get US radio to support Fancy and the album hasn’t even gone Gold yet.
Iggy’s race and nationality are her biggest assets but she doesn’t have the talent to make the most of them.

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

October 2014, the song had sold a total of 3,754,296 copies according to Nielsen Soundscan

      • TruthAboutPink October 22, 2014

You poor b****, we’re talking about album sales.

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

You retarded r***** I know that.

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

I suggest you continue to snack on those fried m***** balls and not talking about anyone’s p****. You puss infested diseased half wit.

  8. AubreyOSlay October 22, 2014

Iggy fans do this fascinating thing where they pretend that being a 20 something white girl with blonde hair and light eyes is something that would have held her back. It’s totes hilaire.

    • BeyBeyKing October 22, 2014

I’m glad you said 20 something cos you KNOW her birth certificate is spilling all kinds of truth tea. #24GoingOn30

    • Realest October 22, 2014

In rap, an ALL BLACK GENRE AND COMMUNITY, that does work against her which is why she gets SO MUCH HATE. She’s not a singer, she’s a rapper.

      • K.Rebelle October 22, 2014

Lol. She gets hate from the black community because she parodies them when she raps. She also gets hate because she’s preferential treatment from the media because she’s white and pretty. An old white guy could never get away with the things she’s said.

      • Realest October 22, 2014

Oh please. Iggy doesn’t try to act like a black chick. I saw a few interviewers with her and she seems mad cool and chill. So what she is influenced by black culture? She spent the latter half of her life in the south. What’s the difference in a white girl who spent her teens in the south who raps like her surroundings or a ghetto ass black chick with fake teeth, fake hair, fake nails, fake boobs, fake b*** and goes around running their mouth like the hoodrat babies mom she is as a love and hip hop royal court holder. People just hate on Iggy just to hate. I’m not a particular fan of hers but people in the industry that actually know her (not just bitter black ppl giving their opinion before even meeting her) say she is cool as s*** and down to earth

    • Commander of the RihannaNavy October 22, 2014

Too bad that formula failed for Aubrey O Something.

  9. MadameMalik October 22, 2014

The black community is more than happy to accept and embrace white rappers when they are good (Eminem, Yelawolf, Mac Miller etc), but they’re not so accepting when someone LITERALLY uses a Southern accent, bashes their race and then has magazines like Forbes saying she runs a genre they built because she put one ONE number one single she paid to have played on radio.

    • Realest October 22, 2014

Eminem said he would F*** a black chick and but would never wife her. People that actually know Iggy say she is mad cool. Social media speculation will be the death of our world.

      • Don’tComeForKenya October 22, 2014

That’s not racist, that’s preference. Iggy made a direct REFERENCE to people of color when she dissed them. #TheDifference

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Please twirl yo a** up outta here.

      • Realest October 22, 2014

@kenya : oh please black people get on my nerves.. We say all kinds of “non harmful jokes about other races like it’s funny like “oh this dumb white b**** did this” or just go over to websites like mediatakeout and they have “white people do the dumbest things” post or various comedians talking MAD S*** about white people and various other races.. Not to mention there’s a movie out currently called “dear white folks” which is a parody stereo typing white people.. So.. Idk. There’s bigger fish to fry than a white girl rapper whos clearly cool with black people, by those WHO KNOW HER PERSONALLY

    • Commander of the RihannaNavy October 22, 2014

Dead @ Mac Miller being good! Gurl have several

  10. QueenPixieLott2014 October 22, 2014

  11. Realest October 22, 2014

I remember some ignorant black idiot talking about he was so offended by Iggy’s “Fancy” video because they had black people in the movie being portrayed as rasta potheads. I said “you do know that Fancy is made after the iconic movie clueless which basically spoofed every race as spoiled, rich idiots, potheads skaters and those Rastas were in the movie? Have you ever seen clueless?” His response?

” I don’t care it’s racist and as a black man I am highly offended”…. I replied “well as a partially black man I am highly offended by the lack of brain cells and comprehension skills you posess.. You should be more offended by your favorite show [love and hiphop] and Mona Scott young for making our people look like IDIOTS”…

    • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Some people will make an issue out of nothing.

    • EducatedLady (You Can’t Fool Me) October 22, 2014

Hmmm hmmmm. It’s all coming out today isn’t it. Of course you would use something an idiot said to defend Iggy because only an idiot like you would do that to prove a pointless point.

Iggy is from Australia and consumed Hip Hop without the context that’s around it and that’s not her fault. What she has to learn is that people take offence when they see someone being celebrated for something they get mocked and judged for doing just because they are black.

She truly is Clueless when it comes to sociology if she doesn’t understand why people are suspicious of someone who comes from a different country and raps in an accent that people who actually SHOULD have that accent are called ghetto and uneducated.

      • Realest October 22, 2014

She’s an entertainer. If she chooses to take her entertainment persona from the region of the south she spent the latter half of her life, I don’t see the big deal. People take inspiration from different cultures, time periods, ethnicities etc- Iggys just happens to be south. But she doesn’t walk around acting like she is a ghetto black chick nor does she pretend to be “hood”, plus last I checked there are plenty of twanged out southern speaking whites asians and Latins.. and again all the people in the industry WHO KNOW HER PERSONALLY have nothing but cool things to say about her. It’s only the people who don’t know her, have never met her and will never meet her that are hating on her. If everyone in the entertainment were these true organic talents who were perfect and repped them and where their from only.. But that’s not the case.. Everyone is doing everything these days so I don’t see the big deal

  12. OnikaSaidJump October 22, 2014

I’ve noticed something about society. When people want to they want black people to accept that they have a lot of problems as a community that are their problems and their problems alone. However as soon as black people have something in their culture the masses can enjoy they’re told to wash their hands off it and detach themselves from it.

If it’s bad it’s black and if it’s good it’s for everyone. How sad. Now people say “blacks don’t own Hip Hop” but isn’t it the same Hip Hop those people say is to blame for black on black violence?

    Think about that.

    • JanetXone October 22, 2014

    • VisionOfMimi October 22, 2014

What kind of flawless accuracy. Hip Hop only belongs to us exclusively when it’s involved in something negative.

    • Whettttt!? October 22, 2014

Dr King didnt preach about blacks only. He preached about walking hand in hand with every race and color. Coming from a people who were once looked at as a disease, blacks should be proud the world is embracing what we invented. We don’t own it. Every invention invented by a different race (cell phones, cars etc) we partake in. God wants us to share not separate.

      • OnikaSaidJump October 22, 2014

But the world isn’t embracing what we invent. It takes the inventions away from us and then tells us to detach ourselves from them as soon as they can benefit the masses.
But then when it comes to crime we’re expected to accept the stereotype that all of us are criminals and that all of us are ghetto and that all of us are on foods stamps.

      • Whettttt!? October 22, 2014

That isn’t true. That’s why Beyonce is the number one female entertainer, rihanna is one of the tops, one of the biggest names in pop is Nicki Minaj a black rapper, the highest paid athlete Floyd mayweather, is black, the richest woman in the world is Oprah a black woman and I could go on and on and on. Highest paid actors have gone to Will Smith Halle berry Denzel… Wendy Williams ,queen latifah Tyra banks and plenty of other black folks are doing just fine… Actually better than fine- at the very top actually.. Stereotypes are stereotypes and every race has them, and they will never go away. We’re stereo typed but we highly stereo type as well. Letting it having power over you is the difference between enlightenment and ignorance

  13. JanetXone October 22, 2014

Iggy will never be respected as a musician but she will become a huge star which is ok imo.

    • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Respected as a rapper… Musician entails a lot of different elements. I would rather be a huge money making star than be just a rapper any day. It’s did wonders for some so called “rappers”

      • BeachHouseBritney October 22, 2014

You shaded her without even knowing it. Who enters a profession and says “oh I may not be respected for what I set out to do but who cares because I’ll make money from everything else.”

Shows how little belief you have in her talent if you didn’t even bother to question what JanetXone said.

      • Whettttt!? October 22, 2014

Has Britney got back her dance credentials yet? Or she still on stage parading around like a Sims character? Britney Peaked 5 years after her debut and never had much talent. Poor dat

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Girl I haven’t her. She is an entertainer just like Nicki… If you haven’t noticed rappers are struggling these days. If I wanted to shade anyone all I would have to type is “Britney Jean”

      • BeachHouseBritney October 22, 2014

Nice try but Britney always gave 100% when it came to dancing and singing from the start. She slipped after her breakdown and her fans have accepted that. I can find you FIVE iconic performances from her first era. Can you find me two from Iggy’s?

      • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Lord Britney’s last hit came courtesy of an umbrella and a Ford Explorer

      • Whettttt!? October 22, 2014

Beach House Britney sorry but before BritBrits meltdown she had a whole inside edition special tributing and breaking down her lipsynching. She’s always lipped since day one 90% of the times.

      • Dem Lessors October 22, 2014

Micheal Jackson used to lip synch on stage, and he’s the greatest entertainer of all time. Beyoncé lip synchs but she’s one of the hottest artists right now. Britney came from an era where lip synching wasn’t as taboo as it is now. Thank god it was acceptable back in the day otherwise we’d just have boring breakthrough artists like Lorde and Megan Trainor.

      • Dem Lessors October 22, 2014

Get the attention this performance got, or rap her own hit song without features and ghostwriters?

      • Commander of the RihannaNavy October 22, 2014

Not all press is good press boo. But I guess press is all Brit stans can use. Poor dat

    • MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Honey let’s just leave Britney alone. She has enough problems. Poor thang can’t keep a man… vocals are garbage… Britney Jean… on the bright side the bish is paid!

      • Dem Lessors October 22, 2014

    • thevoicee October 22, 2014

      only 243,000?

That is good these days. He is a touring act and sells platinum so his career will be fine.

Jessie is a good performer too.

  16. thevoicee October 22, 2014

I feel bad for Jessie J b.c she is very talented. Spotify is ruinng CD sales.

I hope Nicki and Drake don’t put their albums on Spotify until a few months after the official album release.

  17. MisdamenorFan October 22, 2014

Truth is not just Spotify. There are tons of streaming services out there but they do get paid from streaming. Not as much as sales but they do get paid for streaming.

    • Rosie October 22, 2014

Most artists get their money from touring. Definitely true if they’re one of those “indie” bands. Some get paid ~$200K a night.

  18. Dem Lessors October 22, 2014

In my eyes Jessie still slayed, the album wasn’t cohesive to the single so maybe that’s why the sales weren’t as good. I just hope her label start treating her as an artist who could never breakout. They just need to keep trying, Rihanna only became a household name after GGGB so it’s possible to breakout long after your debut.

    • Dem Lessors October 22, 2014

      *don’t start

      • MisdamenorFan October 23, 2014

Uncle Jessie J sangs her face off! I thought the album was good!

  19. Rosie October 22, 2014

Mess, how is this slaying? This b**** could get Bratz and Arianators to buy a single but couldn’t get them to thank her for the hit by buying the album. And LMAO at this doing worse than Who You Are. Well deserved for one of the worst songs AND album of 2014.

  20. TheElusiveLamb October 22, 2014

If she keeps promoting, she’ll sell more. In this time, sales are very modest, and maybe 5 artists have gone gold, maybe 3 platinum. She is extremely talented and beautiful. I will be getting her album.

    • The Holy SPEARit October 22, 2014

She’s a two hit wonder babe. Her music sucks.

    • Rosie October 22, 2014

Actually no album released in 2014 has went platinum. Unless you consider Bey going 2x plat since her album was released after the 2013 year-end list cutoff for Billboard.

  21. Mimi Carey October 22, 2014

Her album is corny. She won’t get another hit out of it.

  22. Jamie October 22, 2014

Lol this post has nothing to do with her but quickly became about her. Iggy is truly running things. As for Jessie, I want to like her but her music is vanilla and she has no identity. I just cant get into it.

  26. RADARS77 October 22, 2014

So GLAD JESSIE Finally getting the recognitions here in the US she deserves!! SO TIRED OF PHONY Digitally created Pop Stars -And Jessie is anything BUT!! STILL LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE HER TOUR IN THE US (Not just the Jingle bell balls) Dont know what the hold up is since every show (although rare) sells out in minutes!!! Doesn’t have to arenas -of course that makes more money -but I would prefer to see her in the venues she has been in the past in the us -more intimate & Jessie seems to enjoy those more so why not give us that at least?? As for ripping the U.K.Im from the U.S.& I completely understand her pride in her homeland that’s a major reason she originally peaked my interest! It’s rare these days for some one to be proud of their home and I admire her for that -she doesn’t need to move here just visit URs several times a year & well be happy!!!

At leat she has talent, unlike some f**’s local thot fav who marries f*** for a number one, and can’t even sell 500k. B**** brag so hard about how it’s fav, and yet his hole is more famous than Cheryl Colocal. Dumb ass f**! Real talent makes The London Sessions, while others create The One Octave straining Sessions. B**** won’t even see Brandy’s Humans numbers and you only have to sell 300k to go platinum in UK. Flop c***. Deal with it f**!

The sad thing is there are more trolls in this site, than the total of albums Ciara has sold since Fantasy Flop.
